I took my son and daughter in for haircuts today. While both stylists did a nice job, I really dislike policies where surprise charges are added only after the service is done. At checkout, my stylist was about to ring me up when the manager (or someone else) told her to tack on an extra $13 just because my daughter's hair was slightly below her shoulders -- even though it was only trimmed by about a quarter inch. I've gone to this place a total of 5-7 times between 2020 and 2023, and I kept telling myself that my mediocre haircut was just a fluke and kept giving them more chances. I was also just too stressed and short on time to properly research hair salons, so I went with this Hair Cuttery because it was cheap. I typically get my hair cut medium length (for women) with moderate layering, side bangs, and I also like to have the front gradually get slightly shorter. I pretty much always get a mildly uneven cut here with random chunks of hair being much longer than the surrounding hair. It really shouldn't be that easy to see uneven haircuts on me because my hair is a 1C or 2A (i.e., mildly wavy), but it's obvious to me, and I usually end up having to trim those random bits after each haircut. I somewhat dislike how a stylist has told me before (when I seemed unsure of the haircut) that I could come back anytime and get it fixed "for free." I'd prefer to just have it done well the first time. Also, I got a mild burn one time when a stylist absentmindedly left the hairdryer aimed at the same place on my scalp for too long. I dunno, the staff generally seem like they're in a rush and/or stressed, and I don't think it produces the best results. read more

VIBE - Place was incredible busy, chaotic Stylist respectful of eachother. Clients are thankful. Could use a good cleaning service, water stains in ceiling. This is more of a landlord issue. Walked in and asked if anyone was available to do a shampoo blow dry. Without checking the schedule hair stylist NUNU shouted NO we are booked. As I was walking out a kind stylist asked that I wait a little and that she would be able to help me once she finished which would be in 5 min. I waited and once it was my turn the kind hairstylist started to approach me but NUNU shouted that another customer needed to get their eyebrows done. (NUNU wasn't doing anything) The kind hairstylist asked NUNU to start washing my hair while she did the eyebrows. NUNU said she was busy and started making phone calls to her clients to confirm they were coming. I continued to wait as i realized I was a "walk in"' the kind hair stylist finished doing the eyebrows and asked NUNU why i had not had my hair washed, NUNU responded that she was waiting for her clients. I thanked the kind stylist for her willingness to help but informed NUNU that it was clear she never wanted to help me and purposely kept the other lady busy. Waited for 30 mins and walked out. I believe the other stylist wanted to help, but NUNU prevented her and was annoyed that she had already said NO to me and the other lady said yes. Please get it together. I will not be back here. Dropped in because my hair was quite long and I wanted to donate it to Locks of Love. The receptionist was very friendly and helped me check in. My stylist was friendly and did a wonderful job. I have never written a review before but I'm actually pissed about my hair cut. I showed her a picture as a reference. The picture I showed didn't have any layers at the back that I could see, and even if they did, it is very minimal. And again, the layer (or side bang) in the front is only one small section. She gave me multiple layers and was not very nice in the way she cut my hair either. She didn't even ask where my part was, so now I a haircut where I should he parting my hair down the middle even though I part my hair on the side. I am very unhappy with this haircut, but I am one of those people who never say anything about it so it might also be my fault since I said nothing. And I also know my hair isn't straight in the picture, but even if my hair was straight, it would not look like the picture at all. read more

I was a regular customer with this location for years since I moved to South Ridjng in 2008. I have to say that the service and caring by the staff has sharply declined in recent years. The lady who cut my hair was very nice to me and my son. But other than that, it's always been a bad experience. All she did was shampoo my hair, combed it, sectioned it in three and cut one inch across the bottom of my hair and that was it. She wouldn't cut my layers or front pieces. Meanwhile, the manager was screaming, I'm not exaggerating, screaming at her employee and kept telling her, you always do this. It was so unprofessional and killed the mood for everyone at the salon. My hair stylist had to explain to me why she was mad because there was no avoiding the screaming, something about too many people asking for days off for Vietnamese new year. I had the worst experience at this Hair Cuttery and I will not return again. The check in was a disaster. No one assisted me and the check in machine was broken. Then when I was taken back I told them I wanted a simple trim while keeping my length. The stylist just went ahead and started chopping. I even told her I wanted a trim only but she kept chopping away. By the end I had half of my hair left. Also she didn't let me place my bag anywhere so I was holding it in my lap. The cover to protect my clothes wasn't placed right so I was completely covered in hair. When she finished she didn't even move my hair from my face and said she was done. She never showed me the finished cut. When I went to pay I had a coupon so I showed her and she said no I can't use it today bc it's busy maybe next time. This was the worst experience I have ever had for a haircut. I usually go here only to take my son for his haircut with decided one day to join him and get haircut myself. I walked into a disaster. First and foremost the customer service was horrendous they were talking about tips out loud in front of my son and I and how much they made that day or didn't make. Not so classy but not absolute train wreck yet. Second we had to fix my sons hair two or three times. And then when I went to pay for my haircut they brought my son out of the chair and told gave me tips about how to make the sides of his haircut more even at home if I wanted to. I was astonished. My haircut was horrendous and the lady went around and cut the sides of my head only once and didn't even bother to shape up things or anything like that like most salons or barbers. So I had to show her places where she needed to go back over and make things even. Really? Anyways, I can't even give this place 1 star. I suggest nobody go there. Few days ago I visited this Hair Cuttery and I left absolutely amazed. Personal super sweet and helpful especially Sharon who cut and colored my hair. At first I just came in for cut but after we talked (Sharon was super chatty so I felt super comfortable) and I told her what my hair been true and what I wish my hair would look like she recommended me what she can try to do. She wasn't pushing my to do anything and she even tasted products on my hair how it will look and if it will make any damage on my hair. So when I agreed we started. Everything end well I finally have my dream color and perfect cut and I also bought shampoo and conditioner that smell amazing and will keep my hair icy blond longer and I payed less then 100$.
