I had a appointment for 6 PM today. I arrived at 5:30 to see if I could possibly get an early. They said nothing was available. Will see you at six, so I arrived at 5:50 PM. Once again told will see you at six finally at 5:55 a walk and came in and was taken care of immediately at 6:05, but I still was not welcomed I left. Appointments should come before any walkins. I went in to get a color refresh. Stylist said let's just do the new growth. Then she didn't have the same color I wanted so I chose the next closest color. Before she started coloring I asked her if there was going to be too much of a contrast by just doing new growth. She assured me it would not It was. I said I was not happy so she put a dark toner on all of my hair. Now the new growth is reddish brown and the rest of my hair is gray brown. She told me very quietly I could come back in a few days and she would do it over for free. I am not going back. Ever. read more

Mom had the best cut and color at the Germantown haircuttery. Judy took so much time getting my moms color just right. Sometimes since moms hair is all gray it is very resistant to color and some folks just don't get it right. They will leave some areas white and Mom would have 'skunk hair". Not this time. It was beautifully done. In addition to the color, Mom also had a cut and a blow out. The cut was just perfect. I showed Judy a picture of the hair cut that Mom had before and she executed it to perfection. Now my almost 80 year old Mom looks decades younger. read more

I received the worst haircut I have ever had when visiting the Hunt Valley, MD location today. Absolutely incompetent.

This Hair Cuttery is really aweful and not well managed. I got a terrible haircut by a senior stylist. I asked for 1" off, but she cut 4" and it was severely uneven. I had to have it re-cut by someone else so I wouldn't get her into trouble by complaining to a manager. Also, without asking or telling me, she did a conditioning treatment and then hit me with the additional charge at the end. This isn't right. I won't be back to her for a haircut again, guaranteed. The rise in Hair Cuttery pricing is ridiculous. $84 for root color every 4 weeks? WTH. It takes 10 minutes to apply. Over $200 for color, root touchup, and tip? This is crazy! HC advertises themselves as a "budget-friendly salon." But their pricing is now becoming the same as much nicer salons in the area . But here, you get no extras... No current decor, no coffee, tea, water, cookies, or other niceties, so though there are only a couple of stylists I like here, I will now check out out other salons. I would also like to point out that this salon is dirty and needs a deep cleaning. I see stylists when waxing eyebrows, double dipping the same stick into the wax after applying on to customers' skin multiple times (which sometimes bleeds). If Hair Cuttery is going to raise their prices like this the least that they can do would be to reward current and long-time customers by offering series pricing such as buy 9 root touch-ups, get 40% off the reg. price. - for gosh sakes, even PetSmart has that for their dog bath pricing. read more

I hate writing negative reviews in general, but this person should be fired!!! I would like to ask how do you hire your hair stylists? In particular this one who gave my mom an awfully HORRIBLE haircut and even told her it's her first time cutting hair ?!?! There were patches of unevenly cut hair and even bold spots and her bangs in particular looked like my 1 year old took scissors and went to work. Enough said. I create a yelp account just to leave this review. I brought my daughter to get highlights before she went back to school and this was the result. To make matters worse the stylist, Patrica, tried to convince me that this was "fine" and that I "rushed her" by voicing my concern about the bleach sitting for too long after she disappeared for 20 mins. After drying her hair, it was obvious that there were lines and a few blotches of orange. After showing the manager, not only did she ignore me, but did not apologize or give me any resolution in fixing my daughters hair. A nice lady offered to help blend but still, it looks terrible. I did not pay the 74$ and I will not be coming back here. Unfortunately, I had to take my daughter to a different salon to get her hair fixed. read more

Made an appointment and watched multiple walk ins get taken before me even after I was waiting for 30 minutes. 0/10

Completely unprofessional establishment. I called ahead made an appointment for 5:35pm, when I got there I was told the name of my hairstylist. Not knowing who that would be, I sat down and waited 10 minutes past my appointment and was told my stylist is running 20 minutes late. I said no problem, I will go next door and walk around. I come back 20 minutes later and I find out who my hair stylist was, and as I was waiting for my appointment that same hair stylist took a walk-in saying that she has time. Upon coming back to the salon she had a hissy fit saying she couldn't take me because she needed to be out of the place by 7. I was back at 6. My haircut should have been less than 30 minutes. This establishment does not care whatsoever if you have an appointment or not and does nothing care about customer service. Do not call ahead and make an appointment here, go to the Hair Cuttery 2.4 miles down the road. read more

My daughter, who had waist length hair, went in to get 2 inches trimmed. She has curly hair, and even the stylist mentioned that it would shrink further. She and the stylist agreed to a length, but when the stylist was done the hair was shoulder length. The stylist tookmit upon herself, without permission or communication, to cut an additional 4 inches!!! This is so thoroughly unprofressional, and I know how such stylist are allowed to operator in a professional environment. "Nothing can be done now", of course, but who will take care of the emotional pain and suffering my girl is going through? Unlike the previous visits, they were very busy and did not acknowledge appointment times that had already passed while taking later appointments and walk-ins. ALERT HIGHWAY ROBBERY!!!! I wouldn't even give them 1 star...they stole my money! I took my 2 girls for a haircut and asked if they can do a French braid and they charged me $84!!! Instead of $16 for kids haircut they charged $24 for a blowout for each and then they charged an additional $12 each for adult blowout and an additional $6 each for the braid. Thieves!!! I get blowouts regularly from Hair Cuttery locations in Moco and PG country and this location has been very disappointing in my two experiences. Both times I have come here with an appointment I have to wait 15-20 minutes because stylists are so behind on schedule. Today, specifically, I am in a rush and needed to be taken on time. When I was told it would be 10 mins I said I couldn't wait. The receptionist then assured me that someone different was finishing her haircut now and would take me immediately. It is now almost 20 mins post-appointment and she is still with her other client. The staff here regularly lie in order to cram in as many appointments as possible, I would avoid this location. read more

This is your typical Hair Cuttery - hit and miss on talent levels. You can get a good stylist or one that only knows what I call the 'standard' hair cut which presumably is what HC teaches its stylists. The standard is the same haircut no matter what you ask for, numbered electric clipper on the side and then blended in and cross cut scissor on top. You could ask to be shaved bald but if you get a stylist that only knows the standard that's what you get. You can request a specific experience level or by name on the app so it gains a star for that but it definitely limits your day/time choices going that route... read more
