This Hair Cuttery location is excellent! Much better than some of the other nearby locations. The staff is friendly and really takes their time and care. They also make great product recommendations. In addition to being an excellent salon, its location is very convenient and ideal. It's located right across from a Harris Teeter, with lots of restaurants nearby. So when I'm out running errands, it's easy to loop in getting a haircut while I'm out and be confident that I'll walk out looking great every time. My favorite stylist at this location is Patrick. He's been with this location for many years and does an excellent job every time. I would highly recommend booking your appointment with him, but every stylist here is great at what they do. read more

The stylists are all amazing except for one Jabit who is very rude. Overall quality is high however there is absolutely no manager and none of the stylists even know who the manager is. Apparently the manager who also manages the River Hill location only goes in once a week for an hour or two at the most. There are no visible prices posted in either salon which is a violation of UCC Code as well. The stylists say they have no one to guide them or complain to if they need help as well as they believe the manager looks like she may be on drugs and stripping for a living. Since she is never at her job she most likely is. Overall clean salon and good stylists. Minus Jabit who seems to be racist against white people. Hopefully they will find a manager who is actually available and working at the job rather than just showing up twice a week and avail only by text response within 24 to 48 hours. They are apparently hiring for a new manager something needs to be done about that situation a 24 year old showing up once or twice a week for an hour only looks very un proffessional read more

i had a terrible experience with funda this morning. i went in for a blowout. i have long wavy hair and bangs and it tends to get frizzy. she put zero product in my hair, nothing to protect it from the heat or to help with frizz. she asked me if i cut my bangs myself and told me the style "does not fit". she held them up and said they are uneven and crooked. she did zero style just a straight blow dry and did not do anything with my bangs at all and they ended up super poofy and chunky and just weird looking. she kept telling me "your hair is so resistant" as if that was the reason why a straight up blow dry with zero product was making it frizzy. when i asked if she was planning on using any products at first she said "i dont want to make your hair heavy" and then she said that the company is no longer giving them products to use on customers hair so she doesnt have any options, and the one cream she has, customers have complained about it so she doesnt like to use it (which seemed like a really weird and lame thing to say and a poor excuse for doing a bad job) when she was done she asked me if i liked it and i said "no" and she said to me well what do you expect?? your hair is resistant, i would have to use a straightener to make it smooth, theres nothing more i can do with a blow dry. then she tried to sell me products (which again she did not use on my hair) while checking me out. im not usually one to get emotional about my hair but i just had to cry after this!! she was so rude and unprofessional and insulting. i went home and got my hair wet and styled it wavy with my normal products and blowdried my bangs and they looked even and straight and smooth like they do every day. i had a fancy party to go to today and after doing my hair myself i felt great about it! i got lots of compliments on my hair so yea its not my hair that was the problem and my bangs are not defective or crooked like she tried to make me think they were!! and with the right product my hair is not frizzy its just curly and she clearly had no idea what to even do with that! bottom line funda did a terrible job and made excuses and seemed to be trying to make it out like my hair is defective and un-blow-dry-able in some way which is just ridiculous. im really disappointed that i paid $50 for an experience that left me in tears and having to redo it myself!! i wish i had not even paid for it but i just wanted the experience to be over and done with! read more

The girl cutting hair was free but said they had a person who requested her specifically coming in 15 minutes so she had to first see if they showed up. I typically stay away from Hair Cuttery-- I prefer going to a local or boutique barbershop. This particular Hair Cuttery has some rude personnel (especially over the phone) and a couple barbers in the past who simply don't listen to what you want in a cut. What irks me is that most of the barbers lounge around with their eyes glued to their phones. I get that there's a ton of down time and you have nothing else to do. However, there have been one too many times when I'm waiting at the counter for help and nobody notices me because each barber is on his/her phone. Still, I go here because Sonny is a decent barber with solid attention to detail. I would recommend going over to White's Barbershop over on Main St. in Laurel over this spot. read more

I have come here for a hair cut a few times over the past few years, they have always treated me and my son well. I made a hair appointment for 12/26 for a simple cut and go service. I've never been into salon service or any other premium hair care products, I buy what's on sale and keep moving, it hasn't hurt me in any way that I can tell. On to the latest experience. I met Funda, she was going to take care of today's cut. She was very personable during the initial cut, and I enjoyed her company throughout. She offered to wash my hair and do a quick massage, both of which I very much enjoyed. Note you will pay for the massage but I did feel great afterwards. The massage was for your scalp, face, and neck, a quick run over the upper back and shoulders, but again a huge bonus over the normal cut and go experience that I've always gone for. The hair cut came out great, the wife was happy, I'm happy, everyone is happy! I did buy some of their salon products; shampoo, conditioner, hair gel/pomade. We'll see if there is any realistic difference from buying what's on sale at the local grocery in the coming weeks. Final notes, go and see Funda. She will take care of you and you will feel great afterwards. Give yourself a few extra minutes for the appointment if you're used to being quick in and out of the barber shop. Be adventurous, get a massage and a hair cut from someone new, passionate, and professional. I think you will be happy you did. read more

I went in for a hair dye with Jabeen. Do Not book with her she barely knows what she's doing and only wastes time. She took two hours applying bleach into my hair and my hair is only shoulder length. Once she finally got color into my hair she sat me down to let it "process" and proceeded to take three other clients before returning to me. I sat there for 6 hours for a process that should only take 3-4 hours. read more

I asked for bangs but I guess she was either too excited/nervous/ or in a hurry that she messed up big time and cut off a chunk from the side of my hair that isn't part of the bangs. Compared to the opposite side of my head/face that part of the hair is still there at its original length! Now I have this short strand from my temple sticking out. It's been 2 months and the process for my hair to regrow is super slow so I have to deal with an odd strand sticking out until it fully grows to the full length it should've been at. AVOID this place! Impersonal and offensive staff,and inadequate service. I went for a shampoo and cut, took a total of 10 minutes from walking in to leaving. Shampoo job was rough and inefficient; the hairstylist (short-haired blonde woman) was not even slightly focused at the task at hand. For my cut, (I have long and thick hair= takes some time to trim). She trimmed my hair in literally 5 minutes!! I left with multiple dead-ends. The entire time the stylist was cutting my hair she was complaining and making offensive remarks about another customer! Very unprofessional. Don't waste your time. I went on a Saturday night and was told thirty minutes. I waited over an hour and people who came after me were given a chair. After asking the an older, larger lady at the front why another woman was being seen before me she couldn't give me an answer except that she knew the other customer. I like Hair Cuttery, it's very affordable and you usually are in and out in a timely manner and you don't have to make an appointment or call ahead. Tricia cut my hair and she did everything I asked her to do, so no complaints on her skills. Her hands and clothes smelled like strong cigarette smoke and that was not cool for a non-smoker like myself. She was nice and friendly, but for some reason they didn't have a receptionist, so she was the lucky one to answer the phones and greet the walk in customers all while cutting my hair. Aside from that, the floors were dirty. It appears that they may only sweep and not vacuum nor move anything around to ensure no left over hair is forming balls on the floor. She had done an uneven cut, didn't show the back of my head with mirror, left my neckline uneven and charged for a shampoo that I did not receive. I had to go home and fix the mess that she had left. Never had a more terrible experience at a salon in my life. I waited an hour because Funda took a walk-in client instead of me when I had an appointment!! I wanted to go from blonde to brown, she immediately told me no and that I shouldn't do it and that we can do semi permanent color instead and she did blonde anyway! I'm very nonconfrontational but she even tried to give me AN UNDERCUT and I refused. She stained my white tee shirt with toner and turned it brown, and instead of apologizing she laughed and pointed it out to me. I had hair all over the back of my pants and inside my shirt after my haircut. At the end of the appointment she insisted I needed to buy the entire Olaplex collection. After telling her I am a teacher and couldn't afford it, she guilted me by saying that that meant "I didn't support her, and how would you feel if people didn't support you as a teacher?" This was extremely embarrassing and unprofessional and I was appalled that someone would try and guilt me into buying products I don't want. I told her I would buy one Olaplex product but she handed me the most expensive one and snuck in another one behind my back! This was by far the worst experience at a salon I've ever had and Funda was beyond pushy and tried using me as a guinea pig instead of giving me what I wanted, but I left with basically the same color hair for $130. Went for a shampoo & blow out. The shampoo lasted like 3 minutes and the shampooer did not get all the shampoo and conditioner out. As a result there's a big greasy sticky spot on the back of my head where he blew my hair dry with the product not washed out. Totally gross. i booked a first appointment this morning as a walk-in for partial color (balayage) , root touch up and haircut. I was assigned Mary. I explained what i was looking for but she kept telling me i couldn't get a partial color but needed full all hair colored which is not what i wanted and then she kept insisting i get yellow highlights. I explained again several times what i wanted. After a few minutes she told the next hair dresser to come over Lorraine to help explain because we would understand each other since we were the "same people". I thought it was a very racial comment because i explained to Lorraine in English the same thing i explained to Mary and she understood. Lorrain explained it to Mary what i was looking for but Mary kept saying something else and Lorraine was saying "that's not what she wants". Mary was very angry and i told her if Lorraine could do my hair instead that i didn't want to argue with her anymore or trust someone that is angry to color my hair for the first time at this place. i am flexible for giving someone else a chance if it was someone else they would have walked out for receiving a racial comment.
