After years of mercilessly teasing my hair up into a mohawk without having any dead ends trimmed, I walked into Hair Cuttery because it was the only place open the day (sunday) I finally got fed up with my frizzy look and decided I needed a change. Glad that's where I ended up. Despite being quite busy, the staff there maintained a relaxed and friendly atmosphere which I really appreciated. (no one wants a hurried or stressed person wielding sharp objects near their face) The stylist who did my hair, Ashleigh, was very kind and has a great eye for detail. She transformed my shaggy unkempt mane into neatly styled look with precise edges and smooth locks. Seriously impressed. read more

Got a fantastic haircut and had a great time in the salon with a really pleasant atmosphere. Hailey was so understanding and was able to compile my jumbled ideas into a really cool haircut. I've been going to this salon for years even though the staff is really never around long. I found someone who was a nice fit for me and I always asked for her. I had an appointment for 9:00 am on Friday. I walked in and they told me Rachel called out. They tried putting me with someone else. I don't trust anyone else!!! That's why I ask for the same person each time. They didn't even have the decency to call? Instead they wasted my time and gas. Will never go there again!! They can send me a half a dozen emails to get me in just to waste my time. read more

Went in for a classic blowout feeling confident bc I had an event to go to , came out looking like I just hopped out the shower and dried it myself . I didn't think a blow out could be messed up and they charge close to 50 dollars . I had to go home and do my hair myself , very disappointed. I took my 7 year old son in during one of her cancellation times. After sitting him down and asking what we'd like done I stated we wanted to go a bit shorter than normal but that we have a kallick in the back of his head that we have had to deal with and have grown it longer to this point. She blurted out "oh yeah it's reall bad, he'll have to keep his hair long, even as he grows older he will have to have long hair with a kallick this bad." My sons face and head instantly dropped. I talked tried to brush it off saying that we have went shorter before and he had liked it. She was shaking her head no saying no way it will just stick up and continued with more unkindness. I asked if we can just do a spiky hair. She continued to shake her head and said no that the Kallick is too bad. I told her to just go ahead and do a trim and whatever she felt comfortable doing and if she wasn't comfortable I can take them elsewhere. She sat him down to give him a trim and I stepped outside to call my wife and let her know that I was uncomfortable with this stylist. My wife came back to the store and walked over. The first thing she blurted out was how bad his Kallick is and there's nothing she could do about it. A man standing by the reception desk thought she was talking to him and asked what she said. I then walked up to her and asked her if she could stop talking about my sons hair and just cut it. My son had long hair until he was five years old. I have been getting his haircut and dealing with this Kalika since then. This is the first time I've ever had a hairdresser feel comfortable enough to encourage self-consciousness into a seven year old. I can show several pictures of him with short hair looking great. Halfway through the haircut she asked why he looked sad and if he was upset. He said yes. He has always loved getting a haircut and today that changed. It doesn't take much to think about what you say and how, especially to a 7 year old. I'll be sure not to come back and to share my reviews everywhere I can to let people with children know to stay away from Pam. Ok, I'm done with them. When we make appointments, they aren't honored. Today I went for an appointment and realized they'd booked one 15 minutes ahead of me (the only other time available) and she needed THE WORKS. When I showed up, I looked back and saw her, and was told "Oh, she'll just be a minute." Yeah, right. 15 minutes later, I walked out. What's the point of having an appointment if you get bumped by a walk-in? And why are appointments only booked 15 minutes apart when a typical woman's haircut takes twice that long? Never again. I'm going to try "The Old Goat" in Winchester, which gets rave reviews and costs only $20. Bye bye, Hair Cuttery! read more

Every time I or my Boyfriend come in they have never given us the haircuts we've asked for. He asked for a small trim and was given a Very UNEVEN bowl cut. It was slanted and not even and they cut off far to much. I've asked for layers and was only given a trim. read more

I have long, straight hair. I told her I needed 2 1/2 to 3 inches taken off. Cut off all the dead ends and make it look healthier again. I'm not sure she cut anything off. It looks exactly the same. My husband asked why I didn't get my hair cut. If this her way of getting me to come back in earlier, forget about it. Never coming back and I will post this on every social media I know. I have been to this Hair Cuttery from many years as evidence from my 1st review posting back in 2012. I came in today to do something simple like an eye brow waxing and there was one person waiting in the lobby and the lady in the front ask older lady white short hair with colors in it told me it's gonna be over an hour wait because people may come back. This place will never get my business again I don't understand how she can place "people may come back" over customers who are sitting in the lobby physically waiting there were 4 employees in the salon doing hair and I asked for something simple but it seems like it was a burden to her. I have ran business has management and I currently work in customer service, but I have never said "others may come back so you'll have to wait behind them". If I could give negative stars I would, the woman who had cut my hair today would not listen to a single thing I said. I would ask to have something one way and she would say i should have it another. She was constantly coughing and grunting while cutting my hair, and she would constantly say what every time I said anything, asking to repeat what I said like she wasn't paying any attention to me at all. I've been growing hair out for about 2 months now and I asked for just a trim to keep the dead ends off and this lady buzzed my sides. I specifically asked for the sides to be kept long. Worst haircut I've ever gotten and I'm never going here again. If you have something specific you want done don't go here because they just don't listen. read more

My first experience with Hair Cuttery was great. I cannot remember who cut my hair, but she was very accommodating, and understood how I wanted my hair styled. This most recent visit was disappointing. A hairstylist that barely understood English cut my hair, and the end-product was not what I wanted. My heart goes out to her, since she clearly was determined to provide good service for me, but the fact that she did not understand good English made it nearly impossible to communicate effectively as to how the haircut was going. I mentioned a few suggestions to improve the haircut, and the response was a somewhat confused, incorrect interpretation of what I was trying to say. I expected a lot from this place, since the price is relatively high for a basic haircut--$19. If I am going to pay $19 for a haircut, I would hope the salon ensures their stylists meet the needs of their customers. read more

I have been going to hair cuttery for a few years now and have never had a bad experience until now. I am trying to grow my hair out so I went in to get a trim to get my split ends cut off. The women I had gave me a wash, trim, and blow dry at the end she told me the price was $35. When the pricing for a wash, cut, and blow dry is only $25. They charged me $10 extra because I had long hair (what it says on receipt). The women never told me upfront nor should I be charged $10 just because I have long hair, I only got a trim. Safe to say that's the last time I will have my haircut at this place. read more

Today marks the second time that my boyfriend and I have left this place with his hair uneven. Seriously how hard is it to do a high and tight. Its not that its crooked theres just on the top some spots are longer than the others. Its not hard to shave someones head. I guess this is something stylist dont learn at beauty school because two different stylist have managed to screw it up. The service here has gone down tremendously. I went in to get my bangs trimmed and a little off the bottom. I specified that I was growing out layers and needed to put my hair in a ponytail for work. I was also on a time schedule and needed to be out by 2 pm. Felicia told me she could wash dry and style and have me done on time. At 2:25 she finished (late for work); I had to remind her to cut the bangs (she wanted to just "style them to the side," I needed them cut short enough to be out of my eyes). Then it turned out she cut several new layers in the back and sides so I can no longer do a ponytail. I will not go back. If you go be sure to say exactly what you want and keep a close watch the whole time that your instructions are being followed. read more

I've never had a bad haircut here. The Master Stylists cost a little more but take extra time to consult with you before your haircut. I do recommend having an appointment as walk-in wait time can be long. Great for men's, women's, and children's haircuts. read more

Very slow service. I showed up as a walk-in. There were 6 stylists, and only 3 were actually working on clients. The others were running around and playing with the radio. I was told it would be an hour wait. I ended up waiting over an hour because as a stylist finished a client, instead of taking the next customer, they would take breaks in between. If you offer walk-in service, want returning customers, and rely on tips, you may want to offer better customer service. I will not be returning. The prices are cheap but not worth the wait. read more

I went into this salon, and it was immediately evident that the stylists like each other and get along well. They created a welcoming atmosphere. I had been looking for someone to cut my hair the way I wanted it cut. I have short hair with many cowlicks, and stylists I've seen at other salons just can't cut my hair right consistently. I was so happy to find Barb at the Hair Cuttery! She does a wonderful job EVERY time I see her. I find that I have to make appointments ahead of time because she is so popular. Horrible experience. My associate was great and friendly but my hair turned out absolutely horrible. Asked for an ombre but turned out like a two year old did it. Left me with embarrassing hair and a rash I had to go to the ER for. Would not recommend going in for color. The color outcome was exactly what I was afraid of. I spent $80 for me to only have an extreme allergic reaction and for my hair to be completely ruined. Disappointed because the staff was so positive about the ending outcome. I've had my hair colored before by a different salon and turned out great with no allergic reaction. So disappointed and was looking forward to the outcome I was hoping for. read more

My mother and stepfather got their cut at this Hair Cuttery today... My stepfather got a regular mans haircut which was fine BUT my mother wanted her hair styled... First off the stylist that cut my mom's hair kept running to the phone to answer it and make appointments..Second the style my mother got was a effin JOKE!!! When my mom turned around so I could see the finished cut..my mom's hair looked like Dora the Explorer's cut....and this lady was acting like this was the greatest cut she'd ever done.. I drove straight to another salon and the stylists that worked there showed us all the mistakes. Two of the stylists said they wouldn't even call that a haircut....No layering, tapering...combed straight down and cut straight across the front and sideways on the bottom. The right side on the bottom is about 1/2" longer than that the left...I'm happy for the folks that got decent haircuts at this place.. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place..... read more

I will never go back to this place. The customer service is awful and I have had long waits every time I have went here. I'm typically told that it will be 20 min or so then it turns into me waiting for an hour. My worst experience was when I was one of the first ones to enter as soon as they opened and I was told that it would take 20 min. No big deal, so I waited, but the 20 min turned into 40 min and at that point I had watched 3 other people who came in after me be seated and attended to. It looks like the other people might have had appointments scheduled even though I was told that it was walk on only but from my perspective I watched 3 other people come in without signing in and get in front of me even though I was there first. I would have felt a little bit better if the stylist would have let me know what was going on even if I had to wait a little longer. Every time I have been there I feel that the people that the stylists know are treated great but if you dont know them then you are asked to wait and are forgotten about. Acknowledgement of customers is something that this place needs to learn if they want to keep customers. read more
