Jenny did my haircut (a trim with layers) and she was incredibly personable and talented. Even a week later, my hair still feels lighter and fresher and I've been getting a ton of compliments on the haircut. There were 2-3 other people having their hair done at the salon while I was there, but we were very spaced out and everyone at the salon was wearing masks. I have curly hair and some hair dressers don't know how to cut it properly, since it grows a bit differently. It kind of has a tendency to grow into a natural mullet - and that's just not cute! She's great! I ended up at Gina Maria's after the stylist I'd been seeing since I moved to Philly wasn't able to…read moregive me a decent short(er) hair cut. I called, talked to Danielle about my concerns and booked an appointment a couple weeks out with Nikki. A few days later, Nikki called me to talk to me about my needs and offer me an earlier opening. I wasn't able to make that appointment, but I appreciated her thoughtfulness. When I got there, Nikki was a delight - we talked again about my mangled (to me, at least) cut, and discussed what my goal was, sharing photos of the desired cut/style. I walked out of there feeling a thousand times better and happy with my cut/style for the first time in over 2 months. I had scheduled a follow up appointment for about 6 weeks out but a week or so before I got a call from Nikki saying she was leaving to pursue another opportunity, so they would have to book me with another stylist. I rescheduled my appointment with Maureen. Just like my initial appointment with Nikki, Maureen talked to me about my hair - what I liked, what I didn't like, what I wanted. She showed me several photos and made a few suggestions based on my hair type. When she asked if I had ever had a razor cut, my eyes lit up. I walked out of there once again delighted with my cut, and loved my color this time around too. The salon itself is fabulous. It's small, but it's warm and inviting. The music level is just right - not too loud. Gina and her staff are welcoming and make you feel like an old friend. It's priced just right - a little less expensive than the last salon I was going to and that was cheap compared to my previous salon in Jersey. They do take credit/debit cards, but tips are cash only.

This was, without question, the worst salon experience I've ever had…read more I went to Blush Hair Salon with a photo of the haircut and color I wanted. Jen told me the only way to achieve the look was with a balayage, bringing the total to $365. I explained that $365 was outside my budget. I also explained that I understood it wouldn't look exactly like the photo without balayage, but I wanted to get as close as possible by matching the highlight and lowlight colors while keeping my existing base color. I wasn't asking for perfection--I was asking for the closest result within my budget. Instead of working with me, Jen refused to do the color because she said it wouldn't achieve the exact look. At that point, I decided I would at least get the haircut since I was already there. Unfortunately, the haircut looked nothing like the inspiration photo. The picture had textured, choppy layers, movement, and curtain bangs. My haircut had very little layering and a completely different shape. The owner eventually stepped in and agreed to do highlights and lowlights, but he also refused to use the colors I requested. He told me the blonde in the photo was "too white" and the darker pieces were "too dark," and instead chose colors that he felt would look better. What bothered me most wasn't that they couldn't duplicate the picture perfectly. It was that every compromise I suggested was dismissed. Both the stylist and the owner decided what they thought I should have instead of listening to what I was asking for. People walk into salons every day requesting fashion colors like pink, purple, blue, or green, and stylists help them achieve the look they want. I wasn't asking for anything unrealistic. I was asking for blonde highlights and lowlights in the tones shown in my inspiration photo, adjusted to fit my budget. Instead, I was repeatedly told no and ultimately given what someone else thought looked best. The final color isn't terrible, but that's not the point. When I pay for a service, I expect to be listened to. I left feeling frustrated, unheard, and incredibly disappointed. In all my years of getting my hair done, I have never experienced so much resistance over simply trying to achieve a look I wanted within a budget.

For years, many many years, I have tried the best salons ~ from Center City to New Hope ~ and never had that wonderful feeling of an amazing haircut. I dreaded going every time I needed a trim. Salon Anna Noelle is a beautiful, super clean shop with the most friendly staff. Immediately I felt at ease. The decor is lovely and welcoming. Anna is nothing short of incredible. I showed her a photograph, and Anna knew exactly how to make it work for me. It's not merely a hair style ~ it's a true cut so when recreating the style at home, it falls into place. There's no struggle, no over drying, no bad hair days. When I say Anna is a miracle worker it still doesn't give her justice. Her talents and skill are honestly unbelievable. Thank you Anna!!

REPLY TO OWNER…read more Anna, I need to clarify the facts since your reply misrepresents what happened. I actually came back to the salon about 20 minutes after my appointment because the haircut was uneven, and I told you in person that I hated it. It didn't look like any of the photos I showed you -- I asked for long, blended layers - the length to be 2" below my collarbone, and instead my hair was cut into a much shorter bob. The result is at least 5" shorter than what I requested, and the bottom 3" of my hair is very frizzy from the thinning shears. I never get the bottom of my hair layered nor did the pictures I showed you have that style. You also charged me $240 instead of the $160 I was quoted for root color, highlight touch-up, and a haircut -- a 50% upcharge that you said was for extra product. It doesn't make sense that all three services cost $160, but "extra product" alone cost $90 more. This is not blackmail. I waited months hoping you would make it right, but nothing was done. In the meantime, I've had to spend hundreds of dollars on products and tools trying to manage a haircut I didn't ask for -- one I will now be stuck with for a year while it grows out. My review reflects my honest experience so others know what to expect. I would have gladly refrained from posting a review or updated it if my concerns had been handled professionally.

I spent part of a lovely gray Saturday morning at Sharon Brown Highly Recommended salon in Newtown…read more(Bucks County). First, a word about parking: I have a bad back and some difficulty walking any distance. I was concerned about where I'd park because Newtown boro isn't exactly known for its wealth of convenient, store-adjacent parking. But there is a small parking lot just below the salon that has about ten spots, including handicapped spots. From there it was just a quick walk up the sidewalk and into the alleyway to the salon ... perfect! Now for the experience itself. I have a mane of thick, curly hair that sorely needs cutting and styling. The night before, however, I'd decided on the spur of the moment that it would be a real treat just to get my hair professionally washed, blown dry, and flat ironed. I was searching through area salons on Google and noticed that Sharon Brown's accepts online appointment bookings! So at 10 pm on a Friday evening, I was able to book an appointment for 10:15 on Saturday morning. Score! That's definitely a service that more businesses should offer. The salon itself is bright, cheery, and unassuming. There is a main level, where I was, and there is also an upstairs loft. There's a big window in the front that lets a lot of natural light in even on a gray day, and there were slightly kitschy Easter egg decorations on the mirror at each station. You'd never feel as though you had to "dress" up a notch to spend your money here (unlike some other salons in our town). I was greeted with a big hello and smile by everyone whose path I crossed on my way to the reception desk; then I was introduced to my stylist, and taken right back for my shampoo. No waiting, I was taken right on time. My shampoo was fine; they used nice-smelling products that didn't seem to either strip my hair or weigh it down with too much conditioning gook. The shampoo chair-to-sink fit could've been a little better for a taller person like me, but it wasn't a big deal. My stylist asked me what I wanted done; I was a little surprised that I was being given an option, given that I'd specified my service when I'd made my online reservation. My stylist was nicely chatty vs unbearably talkative and over-sharing. She blew my hair dry without incident and flat ironed it. When she was finished, I was totally relaxed and my hair looked fabulous! It still needs a good cutting, but a professional styling by someone who knows what she's doing can work wonders! I gave my experience 4 stars rather than 5 because my impromptu blow-dry-and-flat-iron treat cost me $55, including the tip. I just thought that was a little pricey for that particular service; you may disagree. It was probably a little more than average due to the length and volume of my hair. If we could allocate partial stars, my rating would've actually been a 4.5. But I just wanted to provide a heads-up. Final verdict: Sharon Brown Highly Recommended IS highly recommended!
