I can no longer recommend this place to anyone for anything! This used to be a nice place but my, how things have changed. Something is wrong here, very, very wrong!
As you may recall, a Macon police officer exposed himself in a hair salon, allegedly, and that's when things got weird. Many of the employees were paranoid, nervous and quite obvious that this was a subject not to be discussed. At the time it hadn't come out in the paper of WHAT shop it was. You can do a simple google search for this and verify it, if you wish. I then noticed a lot of male customers dropped this place. Finally, I did too. I believe many men were now uncomfortable with being in there after this happened. It appears to me that most of their clientele that is left is older white women.
There are several problems with this shop that need to be addressed, fixed before they become unmanageable, or maybe it's already too late. The tension in the air is usually fairly obvious there now.
They used to keep up with trends and new color styles and products; now I wonder if they buy their hair products at the dollar store.
The woman who cut my hair was good. Notice I said WAS. She had customers for years. We all went through her divorce with her, her ups and mainly downs. But, enough is enough. She's about 49 going on 24. There are younger women who work there and face it, she's never going to fit in with a crowd that young (or skinny jeans for that matter).
There is a personality problem within the ranks. Not sure what's going on there but they used to be chatty cathys and now silence.
I have family in the Mid West and my mother was very ill this last winter. I was there much longer than I anticipated or wanted to be. But, when your mother is in the hospital with a life-threatening condition, who can pack up and leave knowing that she could die at any moment? She was in the hospital for FOUR times. Fortunately, I was able to stay and fortunately, she recovered but it was very emotionally draining for our family and me.
I come back down here and call this woman for a hair cut. And, as I said, she had cut my hair for years. Finally, back in town where there isn't an accent and hopefully a friendly, familiar smile after a long and difficult trip.
She has caller ID and answers the phone with an icy hello and greeting. She's mad. She's mad because I am a commodity to her and when I'm out of town, she's loosing money. I'm not going to leave while my mother is deathly ill just so that she can start making money off me again. That's what it amounts to.
Now, I'm not being overly sensitive. I Walked in and she walked over with an angry sneer on her face, harsh tone in her voice and a brush ripping through my hair roughly. That hurts! Oh, she was mad, no question about it. Then all she could do was complain about how poorly they had cut my hair, this and that. And she was cussing. She wasn't cussing me directly but what they'd done to my hair and how what they said was a lie but used words that mean a lie but shouldn't be used in a business setting. You know, BS. But, she didn't say BS but the whole words again and again, among other four-letter words.
The owner is sitting ten feet away from her. This woman's getting loud. You'd think that the owner would have said something to her in private that her actions are inappropriate. But, the next appointment same thing. On one visit, I had an Atlanta Falcon's ball cap on and she literally yanked that off my head before I had a chance to remove it. How's that for unfriendly behavior?
This went on for FIVE visits. It's as if she were punishing me because I wasn't there to let her take my money and she's suffering because of lost income, and I tip very well 20% to 30%! After the fifth visit, she had gotten out it of her system but I'd had enough this attitude. She's done this for the last three years when I'd go out of town and she'd loose money from me. I'm not married to her. I'm not dating her. I'm not getting anything from her but an attitude and I decided it's time for a divorce. Her ex husband is now happy and I am now happy. Although, please understand that we're not happy together. :)
I believe other people are now happy too as when I would walk in for my appointment, most of the employees would be just sitting around playing on their cell phones. Hmm, idle time means no customers. read more
