My go to rug cleaner! We have wood floors in our home so that means we have a ton of area rugs. Never had them clean before and felt it was the time to do them. Called and was told that I can bring the rugs to the store in Oak Park or the truck will come to my home and pick them up. I opted for the truck coming to my house to get them all. If you drop them off at the store they gave a discount. Be prepared to wait though! Lots of waiting for a phone call for them to update you on the progress of your rugs. I think overall from my first phone call to the rugs being re-delivered took over a month. Their communication was pretty good - they called to let know the status of my rugs and if I wanted certain extras like a stain resistant coat. The guys who came to get our rugs were professional and quick. They took 4 big area rugs and a hall runner. They never told you a price until the guys put all of your rugs back where they go in your home. So I wish they were more upfront about the price. The price was worth it based on how clean my rugs looked - they all looked new. All the stains and marks were gone! The guys who came to put the rugs back were patient with me trying to remember how the rugs were laid. Pro tip to take pictures of how your rugs were laid before they take them. They also would move my furniture so my husband and I could shuffle the rugs back in place. read more

In a situation I still don't even want to talk about, I ended up with cat urine transferring red DYE (not a stain, but dye) onto an almost-new 10x14 cream-colored wool rug. I was sure my rug was ruined, but I called Hagopian just in case. Their chemist is an absolute genius. Somehow he removed the dye without harming the rug in any way. It looks wonderful--you can't even tell where the stain was. And they picked up and delivered at no extra charge. This company really is the best. We had our 8' x 10' Burgundy hand tufted wool rug cleaned in early July (purchased from Hagopian) but we were not happy with the results. When they returned it the colors appeared faded in various parts. When I called to talk about the appearance, Brad in Oak Park said we should have had a detailed evaluation before they cleaned it. But that did not happen. They picked it up to try to fix it, but when returned, it was no different. I also talked to Howard Appel and he said it could be brushed to change the tones, and what we saw was normal. I said I should have been notified of the condition before they cleaned it. We got our 5 rooms cleaned on Sept. 15th. We paid extra for the "3M Scotchgard ... $100 and another $100 for the disinfectant. Yesterday, I bumped the table and sent a coffee cup flying. We immediately got our carpet cleaner out and tried to clean it to no avail. Today when I called them, they informed me that the Scotchgard is NOT to protect the carpet, that it is only to make it easier for them to clean it next time they come out. They would come clean the room again for an additional $62.00. If my carpet cleaner would not clean it, I know there's would not either. To us, they only claim they added the Scotchgard and charged us the $100. They just kept saying, you caused the stain, not us. I told them the Scotchgard is supposed to protect against that. These two employees TROY and LAVONTAE from Hagopian on 8 mile in Oak Park, came to my house to clean my carpet and stole my son wallet out of his room. My son, wallet was on the wall shelf under his TV. When the two guys left my house my son wallet left with them. My son had $240 in his wallet his two debts cards and his house key. Very dissatisfied with the unprofessional nature of this company. I trusted/used them because of their name. I called in advance to get the estimate for my basement and sofa. I was quote $250 and knew it was an estimate and had assumed there could be some variance. My dad was at my house when Hagopian came and when I returned I had a $600 bill!!! I now have scotchguard on my already scotchguarded sofa and stain resistance on my Stainmaster 6 month old carpet and got nickeled and dimed to death. I was furious they would up-sell and take advantage of my my elderly father since the homeowner wasn't there. I called was very polite with the customer service person who was very kind and she said she would have the manager call me. No return call ever, but of course the check was cashed the next day. I've got a sofa bed in storage at a self storage center on it's 3 floor. Unfortunately, but understandably, the storage center does not provide electricity. I figure no electricity means there's no way for these guys to plug in their cleaning machines. it's for that reason that I called the Oak Park Hagopian location and asked if i could bring my couch cushions in to that location, not unlike dropping off a rug. I was told that upholstery is something they only do "in home". The receptionist left no room for debate. Mike Gibson and Kenny did an awesome job cleaning my carpets. They were attentive to all my special needs and paid attention to all the small details . They took the time to find out which cleaning solutions were okay for me due to my chemical sensitivities, and made sure that any hoses they brought in my home had been sanitized inside and out before they brought them in. I would highly recommend them. Because of some of the work being done in my house, I recleaned the carpets shortly thereafter. This time I had Mike Gibson and Nolan. Both were very helpful, professional and accommodating. They moved some items around for me to help make the process more efficient. Nolan was Johnny-on-the-Spot whenever I needed help with something. And Mike gave me good advice about the furniture and other issues. People with health issues and chemical sensitivities should know they have a rinse option that is a simple baking soda based solution. I used to use them all the time. The last time they came out they did a terrible job. Didn't want to move any furniture and when they finally did they turned my sofa and loveseat upside down to rest on the back side. Who does that?? I had to tell them to put furniture protectors under all the wood pieces. Hurried through everything and now that it's months later there is no nap on my carpet and it is blotchy. Almost like there is still solvent in the carpet. My carpet is not the same. They missed an entire area behind a chair and had to come back in when they were ready to leave. Somehow the price is always more than quoted too. Won't recommend them and won't use them again. Oh and by the way they came an hour early so time shouldn't have been a factor. If I could give this company 0 stars I would. The crew showed up at my home and "cleaned" my entire 2100 sq ft home in under 15 minutes. I cant even vacuum the entire house in 15 minutes. When I called this afternoon to speak to someone about the terrible job they did the woman on the phone ( I believe her name was Kara) could not have been any less caring and told me she had the same authority as her manager and would not allow me to speak to a manager. I asked her if she had manager authority then why did her comapny even have managers. She told me she would have to fill out a complaint form and a manager would call me when they got to me ( but it would be several days) because they had other complaints to deal with. How many complaints does this company have? She refused to refund my money stating they do not give refunds and told me all she could offer was to have the same crew come out and clean the carpet again. Then she told me the stains in my carpet didnt come out because they are pet stains. I have never had an animal of any kind in that house. I have never been so disappointed in a company in my life. Do not use for rug carpet cleaning! They took our rug and said it would be about $300 but then called about two weeks later and said it would cost almost an additional $400 to "restore the original colors". During the cleaning process, the colors of our rug bled so you are held Hostage and if you don't pay the up charge, you end up with the destroyed rug, albeit perhaps it smells better. They make no mention of this on the phone or when they come in to pick up your rug, but buried in the language of your receipt, it says that there may be an additional charge from the chemist. When they call, they chastise you and say "you should've read the fine language" In the receipt, they honestly just throw at you as they're walking out with your rug. They make no mention of this doubling cost when you talk to them on the phone and make the appointment. Highly recommend you do not use this company and you somebody who is more Honest and transparent and cares more about their customers. I don't see any scenario where a customer would expect to pay close to $700... When they were quoted $300... If you don't pay it, you get back a rug that is essentially destroyed read more
