A stand out grocery store. A step up from your standard fare Freddy's or Safeway. You'll find specialty butter, fresh milk in glass, finer wines. And, of course, the prices to match. Personally, I like that they try to focus on carrying NW brands as much as they can. Just don't expect fine dining in the deli section. That area is a real disappointment, all things considered. The baked goods are also nothing to write home about. However, they do have a wide selection of cheeses and assortment of crackers to match. They will also give samples, as long as it's not a manufacturer's packaging. They do have excellent customer service. We've had a couple of issues over the years with bad products, and they've always gladly taken care of the issue no questions asked. read more

Great bakery those cake ladies are wonderful ordered a cake and both girls helped with the cake idea turned out great

Most employees are friendly, but some of them really looks like they don't want to be there. The cashier and the one who helped bagging treated me like I was invisible, they just kept on talking and completely ignored my being there. They should install those self check out registers, because it's no difference! read more

This is my first stop grocery store, then I go elsewhere if they are out or don't have it. Their meat department is to die for and they have a lot of great organic foods. I really like that their organic is embedded throughout the store. read more

If you're looking for a custom cake from the best grocery bakery in town, look no further. Also, their customer service is 10000%. I've ordered all of my families birthday cakes here (custom order) and I went to pick it up today for my child's party tomorrow. Somehow my cake order went missing, and not only did I not get charged for the new custom cake, but they were able to make the new cake incredibly quickly. They were incredibly apologetic, kind, and rectified the problem immediately. Very satisfied! read more

Love that it's open 24hrs and can always find what I need. The crew is full of quality people and their customer service is top notch, by far the best in Olympia! A pleasant atmosphere to shop in. I love how on special occasions they will have a live musician or pianist. Their pharmacy also has a well educated professional crew. read more

I've been a loyal customer for over a decade, and generally this is my go-to store. They have a very good produce section and meat department. Be warned, however, their prices are high for comparable things elsewhere (like general grocery items). In the meat Department hope you get Jerry or Rick. Good luck if you get Clarice - I try to avoid her but sometimes you can't. Also for some reason they have one person working meat after work when the place is busy, and four people mid-day when its slow. A union thing maybe?? The wine selection is also above-average, and Craig is helpful in that department. Also an above-average deli, but very spotty service there. Sometimes prompt and cheerful, sometimes maddeningly slow. If Trader Joe's carries what you are looking for, it will be cheaper over there across the street. read more

Best store in the Tumwater, Olympia, Lacey area. Clean. Good quality. Variety. Good bakery. But, expensive. Can't afford to do all of our shopping there. read more

Great meats and seafood. Best meatloaf in town by Clarice. Mushroom and onion...yumm. Great produce and very courteous staff. High prices though, but when I need top sirloin or meatloaf I always come here. read more

I'm also surprised by the negative reviews. Staff are responsive and friendly. I've always found what I'm looking for in stock. Produce and meat depts are good. Deli has so many good options it's hard to choose. I wish they hadn't closed the store in Lacey. read more

This is by far the best grocery store in town. Its clean, lots of organics and local products. They have fresh quality meats and a butcher there everyday. If your not happy about something, they do their best to make it right. Some higher end stuff as well as lower priced items. Great ads and coupons. The check out is also quick. Never had a problem all these years I've shopped there. read more

If they didn't have such great gluten free items and produce I'd probably give them two stars. I shop here a lot for events I host at my job and we serve our clients primarily veggies and select gluten free items. The gluten free cookies from the bakery are amazing. People who don't eat gluten free love them... And that says a lot for a cookie. The price is steep though - $5.99 for 12 cookies. You can get a bag of 18 cookies for $4.99. They're about three times the size of the g-free cookies, too. I used to love the guacamole until I read that they put sugar in it? WHY would they do that?!? They used to have a really great selection of kombucha and somehow it's dwindled to three brands. Boring. They do have a great selection of cheese and local products that range from granola to dairy to pickles and krauts. The wine selection is pretty great. Overall, if I wasn't buying with the company card, for company events, I wouldn't shop here. In fact, I never shop here on my own dime. Toooooo pricey! read more

I have many good things to say about the store but the pharmacy is over the top great. The pharmacists and staff are helpful, smart and responsive to their customers.....we have been offered assistance in finding alternative and often more affordable prescriptions on more than one occasion. In addition, the meat department is friendly and helpful in filleting fish and other needs. Not to mention the nice wine department....very nicely organized and complete, especially for a grocery store. We love this store and staff! read more

What a joke. This place has gone downhill since being rebranded. How the hell do you not have any chicken at noon on a Sunday with football on???? Disappointing and a waste of time. They also scan your license when you buy alcohol. This is a terrible practice because it takes all of your info off your ID. read more

I would recommend this store for pretty much anything. The bakery is outstanding! I saw on another review where someone said the donuts weren't out by 6:00 am, any regular shopper knows that all you have to do is ask someone in the bakery because they will gladly go back and bring some fresh ones out. I have dealt with the manager(Jamie) and an employee named Lyle and they both seem extremely knowledgeable in their field. Oh and don't let me forget to mention the amazing cake displays. They are awesome! On a whole, my only complaint in the store would be that, so many days the smell of the fish department is overwhelming before I ever get near it. The produce department always is stocked with very fresh products. I appreciate that. read more

This place is great for family's and couples that want to shop here and get stuff for the months worth of food and stuff but the way you are looked at, made fun of and talked down to is not okay. Went in here and I did not feel respected or welcomed. One cashier even judged my own dad and acted as if she was hot shot and acted all Coporate. Not okay at all! Management needs to change read more

This is not the high end full service store they claim to be. Store products are wonderful especially the juices I cannot live without them and hope they never discontinue or change the recipe. HOWEVER, the fact that you do NOT allow us to preorder fresh turkeys and that you only stocked up to 20 pound turkeys was shortsighted and inconvenient. I spent my $300 thanksgiving budget at a store that sold bigger turkeys had more visible staff and sent my husband to buy the juice. For that you get two stars the juice is that good. I like the store nut staff is hard to find unless I go to the front of the store wait in line just to have the checkout lady call for assistance. Twice I have been told you have a theft ring that for some odd reason likes electric toothbrushes which made you stop selling them, that's ridiculous and an obvious overreaction to an issue easily solved by moving them to another location other then the far corner of the pharmacy where everything seems murky and understocked. Does your family use electric toothbrushes I asked my friends they all said they did so that's a lot of customers you are sending to another store over a product that no other store in the area seems to have panicked over. Perhaps if you moved the ridiculous amount of booze that you make us trip over at the front of the store, to the pharmacy area where they have locks on them therefore saved from your theft ring. And allowed us to purchase those items we need monthly. Stock more Amish butter it's always out, reconsider your theft ring solution because frankly I don't care you charge so much money for everything that I expect all my favorite standard products to be there and I expect common sense to be used when ordering Holiday foods 20 pounds will not serve a standard sized thanksgiving celebration 25 pounds is small 28- 30 is high end and should always be an option when striving to be better then every one else. When I called Bellevue offfice she said she just orders turkey breasts for her family as if that's even an option when entertaining.. what is wrong with this picture and that response sums up my experience with customer service. read more

Honestly I am baffled by the negative reviews here, and I have to wonder if they are coming from people who are either employed by other grocery store chains, or take it personally when a cashier is distracted and busy. I can tell you that Haggen is exclusively my grocery store; I shop here at least 2-4 times per week, and I have never had a single bad experience. In fact, I have only had great experiences. There are plenty of other stores for us to choose from, but we go to Haggen for EVERYTHING now. Here is a list of the great things about Haggen: - Integrated organic goods. You don't need to go to a separate organic/natural section (i.e. Fred Meyer) and then struggle to navigate. Nope, you simply go to the regular shelf and find the products you are looking for, then choose from the (massive) organic options available. - Speaking of organic goods, really, Haggen has all of the natural/organic stuff that we love. Our favorite brands for kombucha, sports drinks, yogurts, meats, every flavor of la Croix, breads, cookies... I even recently discovered there is a Canadian snack section that has maple cookies! It is rare to find these anywhere! - Local items. Haggen stocks awesome stuff made by local Washington-based companies, like Chehalis Mints and Alaffia beauty products (made in Olympia). Side note: if you want to switch to natural deodorant without stinking, you have to try Alaffia. - Floral section. I always get great quality flowers and clippings here. The selection is not quite as big as Met Market in Tacoma, but I would readily use Haggen's floral department for low-key gatherings or holidays. - Deli and food court area. I can't rave about this enough! We genuinely stop in here for dinner on a regular basis. The salad bar is full of fresh ingredients, and well-stocked, and has loads of variety. The Asian food section is better than Panda Express. The best part of the food court though are the pre-made meals that you can grab. I get these a few times a week. They are basically a meat, veggie, and a starch, though sometimes it is all vegetarian. Even reheating these in the microwave, they always turn out great! Outside the food court is the seating area, which is open for anyone and actually a great meeting place! As far as the employees and customer service goes - the same employees have been there for years. They clearly are compensated well and find the job rewarding to stick around for a very long time. I have asked a few employees how the job is, and they say it's the best grocery store in town to work for. I also have never had anyone be rude to us (as other reviewers say). I DO happen to know that this store is inclusive and some of the people who work there from time to time are disabled, so perhaps that is what other reviewers perceived as "rude"? It is hard to say with so little detail. However, I can confidently say that we have always had great customer service from all sections of the store, including the deli, meat counter, food court... etc. read more

Awesome selection of food, great organic options. This is basically Olympia's closest thing to Whole Foods. Problem is, the prices are sort of insane. I just spent 60 bucks getting some ice cream, a few vegetables and some chicken. I can't exactly tell how they get ya because the prices seem reasonable when you look at them, but by some strange magic they turn into roughly 20 dollars more than you should be paying by the end of it. read more

I love this store for it's organic options. They usually have good prices and great selection on those items, which are the only things worth eating imho! I love their local produce, which profits help the local community. They have great selections of organic icecreams, canned items, breakfast items and more! You can even charge your electric car here. read more

I have never been treated so rudely in my life. The cashier kept giving me dirty looks and then she refused for no reason! Don't ever shop here. read more

Use to shop here all the time. Will no longer shop here... Experienced to many expired products in the deli. The product just doesn't seem to have the same quality it once had.. Will now shop at the new haggen a in lacey instead... You can also see the multiple fruit flies covering the walls behind the deli meat... Very dirty. read more

I love this store. I've been going to this store since before I was born. (Literally, my mom was shopping there when she was pregnant with me) Their deli is always top notch, I really like their pasta salads and everything else. The donuts are unbeatable. And they have everything you would or could need in groceries and wine and beer. Great local selection. Olympia wouldn't be the same without them. read more

My family had a bad experience at the bakery. There was a big man giving out food samples at a table. He had a hand written tag with the name "Fin" or something as it was not clear. He had a black ear gauge on the right ear lobe. He was giving customers samples of the bakery food. When we got there he noticed we were Hispanic Americans and he gave us a ugly look. He then picked the worst piece of food and scraped some crumbs on top of the food to give us. We were upset by this and noticed that the other non-hispanic people got better cuts. My family was so angry we left the store without buying what we needed , so we went to safeway. Why does Haggen hire such hateful people? read more

I came in earlier tonight with a friend. I am from out of town so this was my first interaction at this store. I am pleased to say that the customer service I received was fantastic and the outstanding service I received from Hollie during our check out will keep me coming back for my weekly groceries. Great job, and thank you Hollie. read more

This place is pretty pricey, but that's what you pay for their incredible selection of specialty items and produce. People are friendly here and I almost always find whatever weird ingredient I'm looking for after doing my cheaper shopping at Safeway/grocery outlet. read more

Haggen is our 'everything' grocery store! Fresh veggies, fruits, sushi, baked goods, and a great butcher counter. Oh yeah, deli too. Staff is friendly and helpful. They do it all! read more

Best grocery & deli in town. Friendly & efficient pharmacy. Great meat & fish sections, produce too.

This place is WAY overpriced for the products they carry and they are NOT a gourmet grocery store, just trying to be one. Shop at Bayview Thriftway for gourmet and specialty items. Recently I had to return a plant because it did not take to the ground. I exchanged it for another plant which had the same problem. I also had to take back some seriously overpriced cinnamon rolls because they were soaked in gooey syrup. The customer service manager Anne and some other lady with curly dark hair decided to approach and harass me about "habitual" returns. Those were the only items I returned in the 20 years I visited that store! When I asked how many returns would be considered "habitual", they had blank looks on their faces. I used my EBT card to make some of the purchases so I assumed that they had an attitude towards low-income shoppers. Perhaps they prefer that low income people put up with inferior products that they sell rather than ditch suppliers that produce them. I only shopped there because it was convenient to pick up a few things when renting a movie from the DVD Express machine. THAT was the draw. Other than that, this place is just a glorified and now a to-be-avoided Albertson's. read more

Wonderful store, great produce, and friendly staff! My 3 year old loves this store! He waves at all the staff, gets his free cookie, and sometimes a sticker from the checkers. I totally disagree with past reviews, I saw little change with the new name as it is still the same company....it was always run by the Haggen company out of bellingham. And, just for the record....I've never had my ID scanned, just my age checked. read more

I've never left a yelp review before. But your employee PATTY that works in the evenings has drive me to sign up and leave a review. I love Haggens, I come here often but I'm feeling pretty fed up with Patty. She is the rudest person in customer service I have ever encountered. The judgmental look, rolling eyes, and the rude comments she makes when you buy alcohol are getting out of hand. One occasion I bought alcohol she says "rough day?". Another occasion I bought a bag of chips and alcohol and she goes "that'll be 22 dollars for your cheap date". Like what??? Today is thanksgiving day. Went there to buy some alcohol, my husband says "hi how are you today?" She literally doesn't say anything or look up. She didn't greet us in the beginning either. After the transaction is complete she goes "have fun". This lady needs a training on customer service or needs to leave. I don't know if she's Union or what, I assume so because I don't know what manager with any skills or common sense would keep her. I think I'm done shopping here for awhile until you get rid of her or she learns basic manners and keep her mouth shut about what you're purchasing. In case you haven't noticed, there's a lot of reviews specially about her. Not good for your business. read more

They really have good selections in the health, deli, butcher's and bulk-food sections but they are so expensive I hardly ever go. I'd need to be rich to shop here all the time. read more

Having just moved down here from Bellingham, I was super excited to see a Haggens here! I find some really great local items here, the staff are friendly, and the pharmacist has been amazing! He tried to help us find my husbands insurance information after my wallet was stolen so we didn't have to pay $400 out of pocket. He even called us on Christmas Eve after he found the answer to a question I had asked him the day before! Would highly recommend The Pharmacy and the grocery store! read more

This evening on my way home from the Urgent Care on Cooper Pt Road, I stopped at Haggen Pharmacy to buy some Nyquil which was recommended by the doctor I saw for severe coughing that was preventing me from sleeping. There was some creepy guy in a blue blazer with a badge watching me as I read the labels and compared ingredients of the different brands of cough syrup. It was around 8 pm and I know that this area is frequented by vagrants and drug addicts, but I look nothing like any of these people. I was wearing a pair of jeans, a nice waterproof jacket and all weather boots because it had been snowing earlier in the day. He stood over me and stared at me which I believe is a violation of HIPAA laws. He had some kind of electronic device that he was using to communicate with someone. It really creeped me out, so much so that I will never go there again for my over the counter medications. Not only that, when I tried to fill a prescription on another day, they refused to do it after making me wait 45 minutes, which made it too late to go to another pharmacy. The reason the pharmacist gave is because the prescription did not have a unique identifying number for the provider. No other pharmacy has asked for this number, and I have brought the same prescription to many other pharmacies including Safeway, Walmart and Fred Meyer. They told me I had to wait until the following day so they could check with the provider. It was a Friday evening so what that really meant was that I had to wait until Monday. This was medication that I needed because I was completely out. This pharmacy just does not care about its customers. Stay away, stay far away. read more
