While some who visit the area may enjoy eating at one of the fancy, high end restaurants in town,…read morebut for us, we look forward to heading to the gas station, grabbing a pizza and some drinks and having a tasty meal. When some hear me say that a gas station is our goto pizza place when visiting the area, they may think I misspoke, but the truth is, the Meredith Station, aka Mobil, has the best pizza in the area. If you're not in the mood for pizza, their subs are also really good. They also offer coffee in a variety of flavors, a huge assortment of soft drinks and other typical goodies that are commonly found in convenience stores that one may need for a day out on the water or for a quick refresh when passing through town. In addition to good food, the staff is friendly, and the store is clean. During holidays they decorate the grounds with season-appropriate items, such as scarecrows and mums in the fall and pretty flowers in the spring and summer. Overall, the service is quick and shopping here is a great experience.

Also, COVID friendly as there was a single outdoor dining table with a view (across the street) of the lake. We liked the sub so much, we came back later for the pizza ("The Works"). Yum yum yum!!!! Bonus - all store employees were friendly as well. We will be back!

This guy, must've been the owner, came out and started yelling at him and telling him he'd bring out a shovel for my boyfriend to clean it up! There was hardly anything even noticable because the ground was already covered in dirty snow as it was! Then this guy continues to trash talk and called my boyfriend a "homo" and made comments about out of town Democrats! He's not even close to being a "homo" nor a Democrat, (not that it would be a bad thing either way!) and what does that have to do with anything any way?! And his cronies hanging out inside talked trash to him too while he's trying to pay for the gas! He took our license plate number as if he can do something with it! Uhm police, yes I have a man here who dropped snow on my snowy gasoline and oil filled gas station lot...yeah I think that will go over well bub. What a joke. We'll never stop here again and nor should anyone who is against homophobic bigots who clearly don't appreciate the paying customers that keep him in business, even if they are from out of town considering this station is in a major route of tourism!

It's still the 603 Marketplace, but in October you may have seen the "under new management" sign and "Haffners" on the sign and pumps. A neighbor told me that Haffner's is a mid-sized business based in northern MA that does oil, propane, gas station/convenience stores between MA and NH, so at least this company has the experience to run a place like this. You may have noticed the gas is now more competitive for the area, not 5-15 cents less per gallon. I went in and it has the same craft and branded beers, some beneficial changes to the deli in terms of quality of meats, and they still have pizza. It may still be too early to figure what changes they will make, so let's watch this carefully. We know the last owner really ran this place as a political action office, not a business, but a hobby. Gone now are the political signs, the disparaging cartoons of politicians at the pumps, the front-door sign saying "we love freedom so take your mask off". As you can see in the below reviews, they unapologetically urged many of us to go elsewhere. The thing is, how many other places are there in town with gas, food and groceries? - actually 4 others, and we went! So now the old owner can publish his business plan: (1) Buy a run-down business in a prime location in a town of about 5000, and pay to bring it up to modern standards, improve grocery options, offer food and pizza. (2) Alienate 40% of the townspeople with your "in your face" politics, and (3) go out of business in 2 years. Oh yeah and (4) Think about "What could have gone differently here". We have a right to our politics and it's a sacred right, but incorporating it into a business is never wise...
