They tossed our luggage around like yesterday's garbage The inside of the boat was hot and quite uncomfortable. Crew all acted as if they'd never heard English in their life. The windows are so old and crusty you can't see anything out of them. And it seemed to have been oversold as several passengers were standing the whole time with all seats being occupied. Overall I'd highly recommend avoiding this ferry line. They get two stars as they managed to get departed on time. Everything else was a one star experience.

We took the "fast" ferry to the island with a travel time of about 45 minutes. The crew was very friendly and accommodating as we got on and off the boat. The travel was incredibly smooth, but we did have very calm weather. The ticketing can be a little confusing, when purchasing at the counter at the port of Naples. If at all possible, I suggest you book online and save yourself the hassle.

We bought tickets from their website in May and their site clearly states that changes could be made 4 hours prior to departure. We went to the ticket office at 8:00 to change the time of a return trip at 17:00. We explicitly asked to do it then, but the ticket cashier brusquely said that changes to the return trip can be made at the destination. When we arrived at the destination, the ticket cashier said that we had to call the main office to make changes. We called the main office and were hung up on twice because the staff couldn't speak English or couldn't be bothered to help us. We eventually found someone, who said we couldn't make changes because we checked in already. We had to spend another $50USD in order to get back to our home port on time. Caremar to the rescue!!…read more After all the ferries to Capri where preemptively canceled due to possible inclement weather and choppy seas, Caremar was the only ferry left standing (figuratively speaking)..partially because it is a very large ferry boat (not as affected by rocky waters) that transfers up to 400 passengers, luggage, and vehicles. After a 3 hour wait at the port, mixed with anxiety from uncertainty if the ferry would run, heavy luggage (sigh*) and a few glasses of Prosecco and wine, we made it unto the vessel. It was a rocky 20 min voyage..but we arrived safely and had plenty of seating choices due to the large area that was very clean. FYI: if you have any heavy luggage..you have to carry that bad boy up a set of stairs to the sitting area...the crew does not offer to help, or should I say, conveniently disappear when its time to embark and disembark. Special shoutout to the beautiful (and athletic) Italian woman in high wedges and cute white shorts, who helped a sista out...she put those crew members to shame lol. Anyway, we made it..and my new friends, who graciously offered for me to stay with them if the ferry canceled, gladly accompanied me to my hotel for a celebratory drink in Capri. yelp update: Actually, I learned on my return voyage that there's an area on the main (walk-in) level to stow luggage..but it would be out of sight during the ferry ride because the seating area is on the upper level, so its kinda at your your risk. But the chance of people stealing your heavy luggage (especially without being noticed) is slim to none. And 2 gracious crew members did help me with my luggage as I disembarked..so they do help!

The reason St. tropez is so exclusive is because the roads are too difficult and the best way to get there is by boat. Same goes for the "Italian Rivera". Roads are so tight you need to drive a Smart Car or scooter just to fit. Gescab is the best way to go from town to town. Depending on what time of year I believe effects the frequency of boat trips to each location. Positano, Amalfi come once a day. Naples about 8 different times a day. And it seems like they leave every hour, sometimes even twice an hour to the most popular of the bunch, Capri. I wonder how Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian got to Capri for their Honeymoon... Taking the boat can add up quickly, usually about 30 Euros round trip or as the Italian say "There and Back". But Gescab is always punctual, safe, and probably the quickest way to any location down Amalfi Coast. For the most part I found the staff to be helpful and friendly, though my dealings with them were minimal. Since I may not get the opportunity to yelp each town, here's my thoughts injust a few words on each: Sorrento: Good Home Base to take day trips, great restaurants, not very much beach to lay on. Positano: Beautiful Town, fairly calm, nice beach, perfect for doing nothing but sun and relaxing. Capri: HELLA busy. It's like taking all the people in the world who will be in line for the iPhone 5 on September 21st and putting all on a tiny island. But by far the bluest water and quite beautiful. Amalfi: bigger than Positano. Everything seemed a little more pricey there. Beaches are mostly private, so a fee is charged to lay down. They got a huge church if you're into that. Naples: like an Italian New York, but more dirty. But everything is reasonably priced. Best pizza you'll ever eat for 4 euros, beer for 1 euro, and bootleg everything. That's my take on the Campania region of Italy.

This company is the WORST ferry operator and employs the RUDEST staff I have ever had the…read moremisfortune to meet. We caught the 11:45 ferry from Sorrento to Capri. We were waiting patiently in line to get on the 11:45 ferry while the departing passengers were disembarking. A clear path was available upon embarking the ferry, which all passengers were using as they the ferry. A gentleman dressed in a white shirt then pushed the people in front of us quite hard so that he could instead walk through where we were standing. The man then pushed through us and used the palm of his hand to push my wife on the front of the shoulder to get her out of the way. I then yelled at him but he did not turn around or apologize. At no time did he say excuse me or offer any polite way to get through the crowd. The other passengers in front were just as disgusted as us. Once we were aboard the boat and it was moving, I saw that this gentleman was driving the boat! The driver of the boat pushed four paying passengers out of the way including a woman passenger in the shoulder! The boat was also old, dirty and smelly. It had only one toilet each for male and female passengers. These were located on the lower deck as the toilet upstairs is reserved for staff! There was no safety briefing as is the case on every other ferry I have ever travelled on. Our return trip was even worse. When we purchased our tickets, we were given the ones for 17:45. I asked if we could catch any ferry and was told that we were able to do so as long as it was 17:45 or before. On that basis at around 16:30, I decided to find out which platform the 17:20 and 17:45 ferry would depart from while my wife finished shopping. I wandered to the platform that we got off in the morning to see if I could find someone there to help. A young guy in a white Gescab polo shirt was on the platform and asked me and two others behind me where we were heading. I asked him what platform the ferry to sorrento leaves from. He didn't answer the question and instead stopped talking to me and then went to help the people behind me. I walked off in disgust to see if I could find someone else on the platform who could help. As there was no one else around I went back to him to ask again where it left from. He just replied with "it depends what time!". I said 17:45 and he said that it was on the other side. I asked which platform and he told me 21, which later turned out to be wrong. It was platform 3. Platform 21 was in fact the 18:30 ferry. He had told me the wrong platform on purpose! Once my wife was finished shopping, we asked the local info desk (who were really helpful) what time the 17:20 ferry left. They told us the platform so we headed back over there, where the same gentleman was checking each ticket. He advised us that the 17:20 was full and we would need to wait to find out if we could board it. We asked him multiple times when he would know if we could catch the ferry. He refused to answer and just said soon. He was not counting any of the passengers boarding the ferry so how on earth he was supposed to know if all the passengers with 17:20 tickets actually boarded and whether here would be room left is a mystery. Eventually our patience wore thin and we demanded to know if we could catch the ferry. He then showed us an app on his phone and got aggressive telling us it showed it was full. Another older man in a green polo then joined him who was immediately aggressive and started yelling in my wife's face, asking her what her problem was. I stepped in and yelled back at him telling him just how rude the staff at this abhorrent company are. He then got in my face, yelling and waving his finger. When I didn't back down, He then told me to relax when they were the ones who started yelling first. Apparently the staff can handle yelling at a woman but don't like it when a man yells at them. We then went to platform 3 for the 17:45 ferry (not 21 as I was formerly advised by the Gescab employee) and caught the 17:45 ferry. This boat was operated by a different company (LN) and was much cleaner and newer than the morning ferry. Gescab is a disgraceful company who employs rude staff who appear to routinely be disrespectful to paying customers. This includes a misogynistic attitude where they believe it is ok to yell in the face of and manhandle women. STAY AWAY - there are three other ferry companies that operate services to Capri!!!

They recommended a great place for lunch and we had time to ourselves for shopping and picture taking. From there we got back on the bus and went down to Capri where we were taken on lemoncello tasting, chocolate tasting and some other goodies. From there we went to the Augustus Gardens which were absolutely beautiful. A little more shopping, back on the bus to the ferry and back to mainland with wonderful memories. The station has sculptures, interesting mosaics and bright colors. Università is on Linea 1 between Duomo (towards Garibaldi) and Municipio (towards Piscinola). It opened in 2011 so it is a newer station and so you'll find a lift to the street. I ended up with the stairs. There is also the port and the ferry terminal not far away. Customers can also transfer downstairs to the metro (subway) line L2. Train tickets can be bought at the station or in advance online, I'd suggest booking earlier as ticket prices for regional legs to other major cities can increase closer to departure. Exterior and interior are modern, with triangular/diagonal/geometric design elements. Within the station several large overhead displays show arrival origins and departure destinations, scheduled/actual times, platforms, and special notes like notifications to board or delays. Travelers wait in the main lobby until platform numbers are published about 15-20 minutes prior to departure for regional trains, then head thru a preliminary ticket check (security checking that each passenger is ticketed), into the train platforms in the inner part of the station. Individual train info is also posted at each platform. Note for Circumvesuviana trains, they don't publish all intermediate stops on the displays so double check your departure time and destination are actually valid for your train route time. I inadvertently tried to get on the wrong train (following directions from Gmaps), only to be directed by a helpful train staff member to the next train on opposite platform arriving 20 minutes later. Inside the main train hall aside from ticket offices and machines, a tourist info center and currency exchange, there are probably two dozen shops and restaurants, not including a separate food hall with a dozen local and chain restaurants, bars and bakeries. From McDonald's and Starbucks to Toasthouse, Sushi Daily, Fresca Pizzeria Trattoria, Cuori di Sfolgliatella and Scaturchio Pasticceria. Within the rest of the station there's a grocery store, bookstore, souvenir, jewelry and trinket stores, cafes, fast food spots, bathrooms. Luggage storage available in station or in the blocks surrounding, which I'd recommend booking in advance. Overall the station was clean, functional and safe. I've no qualms about transiting thru here again!
