Unfortunately, the Chicken Shawarma was noticeably dry and although there was a trace of sauce, it wasn't clear what it really was. In the Shawarma was a heaping amount of white onions, which I personally didn't mind however others may not. A key miss was no garlic sauce included, which is a staple with similar dishes. As for the Hadramout Home Bread, it was extremely dry and tough. Definitely more of a workout than a meal. I ended up tossing it! The fries were definitely the only standout. The Chicken Shawarma and Hadramout Bread definitely missed the mark, with their dryness. read more

You may think this place is not in business based on the parking lot but they are and have been here for 11 years. The building does show that 11 years but the staff are so kind and attentive. The chai is out of this world as well as the side soup you get. Our food was very fresh and flavorful. Excited to have discovered this long standing business and will be back. read more

This place is in the hood and you risk your life everything you pickup take-out (lol), but the food is excellent. Service isn't as attentive as they could be. The lamb soup is fantastic and every dish with lamb I've had there has been extremely on-point. The food here is good and flavorful. Everything comes out hot and fresh. The building exterior makes the place look like a hole in the wall place. It's not very nice looking and the patio is covered with tarps. However the interior is pretty clean and bright with LED lights. I really liked both of the main dishes I tried. The chicken ghallaba and the beef kabob. The chicken ghallaba with bread and their sauce is soo good. I'm not even a chicken person, but the seasonings with the sauces made the dish for me. The lemonade tasted fresh and I liked getting that fresh lemon leaves flavor. Service was okay. They had new staff the day I visited who preferred to speak in Spanish. Fantastic food! Everything is prepared in house and is absolutely delicious. The restaurant does not look very grand on the outside. In fact, it is located directly behind a used car showroom. However, do not be deterred, the food is so great. It will bring you back to an area of much needed attention. The food is priced extremely reasonably with dishes ranging from 12 to $20. Traditional Yemeni lamb stew for 24 hours is the highlight of the menu. I highly recommend the Mesa plate which is a combination of stuffed grape leaves, Bubba Hannoush, hummus, falafel with olives and tomatoes. The Yeini bread is a large 10 inch round, baked fresh upon ordering. With a serving of lamb soup, salad, burger, buns, rice, and the entrée you ordered. We ordered chicken, kebabs, and beef kebabs, or were cooked to perfection; moist, tender, and delicious. The service was great. There was a young man, who was highly efficient. He brought food out immediately, and within minutes all of our dishes were presented to us. One of the best items on the menu was in fact that homemade lemonade. I must have! This is hit and miss for me. I have had it multiple times. I love the grilled chicken but sometimes it is dry. The rice could be better but the bread is amazing. Sometimes they forget to give me the sauce which sucks cause that makes it amazing especially when the chicken is dry. Prices are pretty fair. We had a nice late lunch / early dinner here recently with good food, attentive service and comfortable surroundings. This place is attached to "Own a Car Fresno" and it's therefore a little confusing at first to see where to park and where to enter. All the parking spots that were in front of the restaurant were filled by cars marked "Own a Car Fresno" and so we parked in the lot that looked it was for the car dealer. There was nowhere else to park except in the gated Motel 6 lot next door. So it's not the best location and the restaurant does not appear to be updated since the 60s (I think this is the old Zlfred's location?) but inside it's cozy and clean with old fashioned booths and the people running the place are very friendly and seem to want to make the guests comfortable and happy. Even one of the kids in the family came to check on us -- very sweet. This is Yemeni food and seems like the specialty is the lamb dishes -- I usually try whatever the specialty is, but I just wasn't feeling lamb that day, so I got a chicken shawarma wrap and it was really good. My three companions ordered various lamb dishes, one of which wasn't available but the substitution of another lamb dish was fine. I asked them to remembered what they ordered and tell me later but...they didn't remember later. This is why they are not Yelp Elite ha. But the lamb entree in the photo was a big hit so if you want to try a delicious Yemeni dish, bust out this photo and ask them for that. I had never had Yemeni food before but this place has a new and delicious spin on Middle Eastern food. Beautiful interior with sleek black booths, an outdoor hookah lounge, and the flavors hit you as soon as you open the door. Great seasoning on their chicken and lamb combo, must try the Maza sampler for large groups, and the bread is fresh baked. Try their house chai tea made with cinnamon, clove, and cardamom. This is my boyfriend and I's go to for late night affordable cravings. They're open pretty late and you can get a lot of food for a decent price. The worst restaurant I have been to. I was looking for a halal restaurant and this came up. When I got there it is next to an own a car and a motel 6. Very run down and weird. Staff is not attentive and the seating inside is very dirty. The seats all look like someone tore into them and ripped them apart. Very weird location don't go here go somewhere else. read more

We called in an order to go at 8:00pm and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. Arrived at 8:25 and the order was not ready but we didn't mind waiting. However, it seemed as if they were just preparing the order. And when we finally got the food it was 8:45. Then as the guy walked up with condiments in small plastic containers, he dropped them on the floor. I was stunned when he picked them up off the floor and threw them in one of our bags. When we got home, starving by then, we were very were disappointed. The two orders of grilled chicken were completely burned and super dry! I tried to choke down a bite but it was just too dry. It didn't taste seasoned either. If I had looked at that chicken before I paid, I would have just walked out! There was a lot of very dry, bland rice. We also ordered a hummus. The hummus was in a small foil container spread very thinly on the bottom and up the sides of the container, clearly aimed at making it seem as if there was more than there actually was. The two small salads were very soggy and had way too much dressing. Between three people, we ate two pieces of the "Home Bread," which was very good, and the tiny portion of hummus. December 17 at 12 o'clock we drove up to this restaurant now I have to say that it's in a very very sketchy area of Fresno. The first order arrived it was an appetizer of hummus some of the best I've ever had in Fresno along with a large freshly bait flatbread that was over the top as we were eating this they brought two small salads. The plates were ice, cold, finally chopped onions, lettuce, cucumbers the dressing was delicious. Really a tasty salad then came a little bowl of soup of vegetable type soup. It was OK, but not my type not my cup of tea I think I've had better out of the restaurants at the same time. Anyhow, the Lamb came and it was a wonderful site because it was just a huge plate of rice, pilaf vegetables and four or five pieces of large chunks of lamb that fell off the bone. It was accompanied with two sauces which were delicious. Actually two people could eat one entrée than before. I think so far this is the best Yemen restaurant that I've been to. The service was unique and we liked the traditional decor. We ended up eating here three days in a row, and my friend said she never tried such good food in her life. The food is here excellent. We have not even finished and we're already thinking of coming back. I am not familiar with Yemeni food but everything felt very authentic. Highly recommend trying the Salma (picture attached), delicious combination of vegetables and a hint of ground beef served in a boiling bowl. The staff is very good about giving you recommendations and the place seem to have a good number of regular customers. The only reason I dropped one star is because the service was at the beginning a bit slow, they seemed understaffed which it's a common occurrence everywhere these days.
