Sigourney had the cheese spatzle that came out piping hot in a mini cast iron skillet. The cheese was perfectly melted on top of the spatzle. I had a bite and I can frankly say it was the best spatzle I've ever had in my life. No other German restaurants I've been to in the States compares to the spatzle in Germany, and especially at this restaurant! It was superb...well flavored, cheesy, and definitely a treat to eat. Sigourney thought it was very good. I ordered the schweinhaxe, the roasted pork knuckle--which one of Bavaria's signature dishes. It too was absolutely delicious. The skin on the outer pork knuckle was perfectly crisp, while maintaining the soft, juicy, tender pork meat underneath. For those who have never had schweinhaxe, it's a lot like Chinese style "pig's feet" (it essentially is the same pork body part), but crispy, salty, and well.."European" tasting. We couldn't really read most of the menu, and fortunately for us, Bavarians are very nice and willing to help. A jolly, tall German man content with his beer in hand helped us translate some of the menu items and recommended certain beers on their EXTENSIVE list. I was really glad he was there since we got to eat some of the best items on their menu, as recommended by him. Next time I'm in Munich, I'll probably swing by here again to eat some hearty Bavarian food! Delish!!!!

Paulaner is the beer of Munich. So is their beer halls. This one has some unique different plates…read morethan the other traditional ones and why my colleagues and I always stop here. It was renovated from a previous hall and the decor is very nice, not to mention the Christmas decor. They even added a nice sitting area for groups of 5-8 where you have your own self serve beer tap at the table. What more do you need? They also have multiple private rooms. It is one of my top favs in downtown Munich. Will be back with larger group to try that table tap.

We got right in after maybe a 5 min wait and we were seated quickly tomorrow private table upstairs.There were 5 of us so it was very spacious and not too loud. We enjoyed beer and wine first and then we enjoyed several dishes that are in the pictures here. All were very good as most food in Munich at these restaurants is. Our server was very polite and she took our orders and suggested some items as well. Food came without too much delay and was very tasty. We stayed and enjoyed for at least 2 hours then back to the festivities once they cleared the bomb threat and started letting everyone back in. The coastline WCPA was a nice taste of home for me. I'm a bit bummed that they didn't offer flights as I would have loved to try all the beers. They were cool about giving tastes though. The space was super cool and from photos the food looked amazing but I was there too late and full to eat. Where they lost the star for me was their Helles was a bit boring. It tasted like a textbook Helles from any of the big breweries you could get at any restaurant in Munich. I was hoping for a bit more hop character like the Tilman beer "Das Helles" that inspired me to seek them out.

At the beginning of November 2013 the family Abenteuer opened the "Isartaler Brauhaus" after a…read moresuccessful renovation. The old brewery was replaced by a new brewery. Since the building was built in 1890 and is under monument protection, the new construction of the brewery was a real challenge. The brewhouse and each tank had to be built and developed in such a way that they not only brew the best beer, but could also be brought into the building and fit into the available space. They have their own beer as well as offer Hacker Pschorr beer here. It's a gorgeous old building that used to be a train station and the interior is spacious and warm. I assume they have an outdoor Biergarten for summer and so on. The menu is fairly extensive with most classical Bavarian food on offer. They also have a selection of drinks besides beer. I settled for the Wöllner Schnitzel which was made with pork that had a mustard coating. It was really good and I loved it. The Kaiserschmarrn we had was also quite ok. The service was good and friendly and overall it was a great experience. I would happily come here again. It's great beer and the food is also quite good here. It's just a stones throw from the S Bahn Station. A great find recommended to us by a friend who lives near here.
