If you are thirsty, they have bottled water. They have tequila samplings, though not all the time. I was there when they had a sampling with a scorpion in the bottle (ummm ... no). They have some small snacks near the cash register. The place has TONS of Corona beer clothing and souvenirs. They probably have a few hundred different Cancun t-shirts. They have caps. They have Sombreros for $17! They have beach covers. They have dresses to include white cotton "confirmation" ones. They have lots of ceramics and hot sauce bundles and vanilla in various sizes. They have souvenir magnets. Pretty much if you can imagine it as a souvenir, they have it. And, prices are much more reasonable than at other shops. Who has $10 t-shirts at La Isla? They do! Additionally, they have 2 benches in front of the store with 2 figurines that are good photo spots!

The mall was air conditioned, clean, 80's modern, and safe with mostly middle range shops. The Food court was easy to find. There were a couple sit down restaurants. We went to the sushi restaurant but the hostess said there was a long wait. We settled on Pizza Hut for my youngest which had a surprisingly long wait. The rest of us ate Chinese "Cajun" food which is similar to what's offered in all US malls. Everyone was fed for about $35. The food was a little greasy but filling. I had to use my Spanish to order everything. The staff were all very friendly and hospitable.

It has every store you can think of from dirt ass cheap to very expensive and upscale. There's TONS of food options, a 4D theater, cheap covid testing, and a huge discount grocery store. I could've easily spent a full day here exploring all the goodies! I'm most impressed with Calcium nails where I got my gel acrylic nails done for $14 USD. I was also amazed by the grocery store. It had clothes, food, shoes, towels, alcohol, literally EVERYTHING. Like a big ole even cheaper Walmart lol. It can be very packed in the mall and a lot of people just walk right into you. I thought that was weird but hey what can ya do? I'm definitely looking forward to going back and exploring the mall even more.

A tub of mango, pineapple, or watermelon was only two dollars each! They also had a lot of baked goods that looked yummy and a small food court. I also tried the flan, which was very delicious and not too sweet (which is how I like it). Overall, great grocery store! I would definitely recommend checking it out if you are in the area.

Gigante super mercado! This supermarket is huge!…read more This big supermarket has everything you'll need for a beach holiday! It's a regular supermarket, but I suspect that the locals don't shop here at all. The prices are pretty high, and much of the food isn't quite practical. This is a two story grocery store- not counting the parking. Be sure that you don't miss the top floor, where all the liquor and food hall is. Nom! Parking is on the bottom floor. They sell you validation at the cash register. Beware- the grocery bagger is looking for tips. My favorite part of the supermarket is all the cheap Mexican gifts they sell, with clearly marked prices. Actually, many of them are cheaper than the flea market down the way, because you don't have to haggle and deal with the cat calls from the clerks. Beware of the touts selling excursions and whatnot at the entrance. Just because they're in a supermarket doesn't mean they can't take advantage of gringos. This supermarket gets awfully busy in the afternoon. The aisles are narrow. It's best to come at an off time.

During our visit in Cancun, we decided to devote a day into exploring shopping centers and strip…read moremalls. We happened upon the Plaza Flamingo Mall that was located right behind Cancun Dental. As we casually walked past the many nice stores within, Joe K went over to a phone repair store while I checked out La Perla Tapatia. I was immediately swarmed by one of the sales people at the store. Even though I was only showing minor interest in some of the wall hanging displays, he wouldn't leave me alone long enough to make a decision as to whether I really wanted to make a purchase or not. When I asked how much the displays were, I felt they were too pricey and tried to move on. But then he decreased the price from $60.00 to $50.00. I really didn't think it was a bargain, but he proceeded to remove the decoration from high up on the wall so I could get a closer look. I kind of liked it's color scheme and appearance and after additional pressure from the sales guy, I gave in to the price of $50.00. Since I didn't have enough cash, I ended up having to use my charge card. As I walked out of the store to join my boyfriend, we proceeded to explore more stores only to have the same salesman running frantically towards us stating that he made a mistake and under charged me! It appeared he was being directed by this stern looking woman who was probably the manager of the store. We looked at my receipt and found no errors. It clearly said 1000 pesos which equaled to the $50.00 we agreed upon. But he kept trying to say that it said 100 pesos not 1000! He tried to take my receipt away, but Joe protected me and said that maybe he should call the police! That's when we decided that this mall was history and we took the nearest exit, only to have the guy follow us outside, wanting to look at the receipt once again. We actually had to count the number of zeros out to him. It hadn't changed. It still showed 1000 pesos, NOT 100 pesos! I don't know if he had poor eyesight or what, but we started to feel unsafe and quickly headed to the nearest bus stop to go far away from that mall! As soon as I got back to my hotel, I called my bank to complain and explain what had happened, just in case they tried to make changes to my charge. The bank representative was very helpful and made me feel at ease as they would closely monitor my charge card. I only wish that we didn't have to run out of there so fast, or I would have taken a photo of the front of that store! I really had a case of buyers remorse on that day!!!
