This place is buzzing and lively but also laid back, perfect for a drink with friends. I recommend it to anyone finding themselves in the Willesden area.

People of Willesden (and surrounding areas)! A new and awesome burger place has arrived and we…read moremust support it. It's the best burger I have had in London and I have gone everywhere in my burger sampling (I am American, after all). Let's start with the burger. I went with the double bacon cheese; in for a penny, in for a pound. The beef was plentiful and flavourful, and thin, which is my preference. They used crispy, smoked streaky bacon (perfect) and a lovely tangy sauce to round it out. And the bun...the bun! It's a super soft brioche and it managed to hold together until the end, pretty rare in my experience. They offer an impressive, almost staggering, array of beers. Some are quite strong so be ready. The two I tried were fantastic and it seems like some thought has gone into the menu. The fries were also excellent and I look forward to trying the cheese and gravy version next time. The prices are very reasonable, though not dirt cheap, which is actually comforting. The ambiance was pretty humble but it's a burger joint so that is expected. The music was really cool so that really made it a nice place to be. The service was friendly and prompt. What more do you want?

So I found out about this place on Thrillist. It was pitched as a Brazilian burger bar and that's…read moreexactly what it is. On the Thrillist website, the pictures and video made it seem like a trendy spot, but it really isn't. It's located off Kilburn High Road, on a fairly modest street. Though the atmosphere was a little lacking, the food was great. You have a choice over ~15 different burgers - most come in 5 inch and 7 inch sizes. A friend and I split two different 7 inch burgers, a plate of fried polenta chips and a plate of fried yams. There was way more than enough food for the two of us. The first thing that stikes you about the food is how big these burgers are. One of these burgers almost fills an entire plate. Once you bite into it though, you might have the urge to go through the whole thing! We had what was described to us a classic Brazillian burger - it was topped with ham, egg, sweet peas and corn. It was unique and I loved the mix of flavours. The other burger we had was a classically topped and both the polenta and yam were really interesting substitutions for fries. The wait staff was really friendly and helpful and the prices made the whole meal a great value. It was a little bit a trek to get here but it was worth it. I highly suggest you try this place out.

As I was afraid to leave hungry, I went for the big burger option. At the end, I was happy that I managed to finish the burger at all! It was really big. The patty was surprisingly thin, but tasted very delicious. I also liked the fries I had with the burger. The chocolate truffle I had as dessert was also really good. :) I will definitely come back to X-Burger House to enjoy another tasty beef burger there. But I might go for the 5" instead of th 7" version then.

The Mayfair Chippy - My to go order was so tasty. Fries could have been crisper but the fish was on point!

The chips were thick-cut, properly salted, and tasted like real chip shop fries instead of frozen fast food fries. The place was completely packed, so I ended up eating on the stairs about a block away, honestly felt like part of the experience. One of those spots that doesn't try to reinvent fish and chips. it just does the classic version better than most places. Would easily go back next time I am in London.

(I heard the non GF version was also excellent.) Platter came with flavorful mushy peas, tartar sauce, and a spicy mayo (or currry for the non GF platter). Chips were large and delicious. Portion was huge, and easily shareable. Delicious!! Service: It was ok. We waited in line for a really long time (more than an hour) but we were checked on from time to time. Once we were seated and ordered, no one really checked in, but we asked if we needed something. Ambiance: Cute outdoor seating. In door seating was okay. Reservations get to go into a back room which seemed nicer. Lovely side street in a crazy busy popular area. It's a solid 4.5 stars for what it is because the food was so good. I'd return. Tip: Make a reservation a couple of weeks in advance, or be prepared to wait...a long time...Or, skip the line to order takeaway and go enjoy your food!
