I decided to try out certified pre-owned Rolexes and met with John over at that location. We found the watch that I have been wanting for years on the pre-owned listings. He said he could have it to me in two hours if I decided to purchase it. My fiancé and I also decided that we were going to be buying our wedding bands through them as well, so we had a budget of about $12k for everything. The pre-owned Rolex was advertised as the 116613 submariner with an MSRP price of $13,400. The pre-owned sale price was $10,700 and I negotiated the price down to $8711. It was a done deal. John promised me the watch would be there in two hours and I was stoked. I persuaded my fiancé to stick around for this huge milestone in my life and she did. Upon arrival of the watch, we opened the green case and I immediately noticed the off-colored date. I mentioned to John that this should be completely white. He said it was "bad lighting." Then we tried putting on the watch and realized it didn't have the adjustable band. He swept my objections under the rug and promised he would get me another link to fit my wrist and I agreed and walked out of the store with my watch. The certification card said this was a 116613 model and the msrp read $13,400. I walked no more than 20 feet and sat down at a table and was confused. I did more research and come to find out, the submariner I had purchased wasn't the 116613. In fact it was the 2004 model 16613. Off colored date, non-adjustable clasp and an aluminum bezel compared to a porcelain bezel on the newer model. This watch retails for $11,200. Sale price can get down to $7449. I felt cheated. I didn't pay for the older model. I paid for the 116613 that retails for $13,400. Pure example of bait and switch. This defeated my trust in Daniels Jewelry and I immediately returned the watch and canceled our idea of buying our wedding bands from Daniels Jewelry. This is NOT how you do business. Buyers beware.
