This HEB is on par with all the other HEB stores in the central Texas area. My complaint is that they allow these third party solicitors to harass costumers at the door. This has happened several times at this store for me, but today 1/10/2019 was the worst incidence. The guy trying to sell internet bombards everyone at the door on the way out. I will avoid this HEB from now on because of this. Everyone already gets the spam calls soliciting, now you get it in person at the grocery store too? No thank you! read more

I love this HEB. I don't have to deal with the regular Sunday crowd on a Sunday. But every other Friday it's a bit full. All the lanes are usually always open. Its also right down the street from me which is so convenient. I wish they had a bigger Asian/Chinese food section. They never have the fried rice mix packet I always look for. read more

I should start by saying this is my 'neighborhood HEB', which I live 1/4 mile from, and have been shopping at since 2006. Until recently, the service had always been great; and it seemed the store and its staff strived to truly emulate the 'here everything is better' motto. I am usually in the store 1-2x/week; and typically buy a pretty regular list of items. One of these items is a box of Quest Protein Bars. The store sells them individually for $2.50, and they come in a box of 12. I typically buy the box, which has a cost of $25 at several other retailers (i.e. Target, GNC, Total Nutrition, Bodybuilding.com, etc); and HEB matched the price (with a mgr override) as I was giving them all of my other business, and it was a mere difference of $5 in total cost. This has never been an issue, and has been a regular occurrence at least 1x/week for the last several months that the product has been carried. But tonight I was lectured about how it's not their 'Policy' to match prices, and nobody should've ever done that for me. After waiting an additional 20 mins for a manager to consult a manager, who consulted another manager...I was told that I would have to come back the next day to discuss with a different manager that was not there. All over $5; and a regular customer who had $150 in other items ready to purchase. Needless to say, I walked out and went to a Randall's down the street and gave them my business, where they did the price match. I am so incredibly disappointed with the service received this evening, and the precedent that it sets. There is zero consistency in their management or customer service, and I will never shop at another HEB again. I know they are a huge company that probably doesn't care about losing a customer. But that is $150/week; about $8k/yr, that they have had for 9 years. And they are 100% ok losing this business over $5, and a 'Manager' on a power trip that can't seem to understand the concept of general business and customer service. read more

Had to go to this heb since it's close to my family's house. Layout was completely different then a few other h-e-b's I have been too. Didn't feel the vibe at all at this place. Less selections to choose from... I'm always having to wait a while until service comes in the meat/seafood section. Long check out lines. Yeah.... Always seems like the people working checkout are nice. Certainly not every place is like that. It's easy to get around with plenty of parking. I also like that they carry a good selection of organic fruits and veggies. They have the best prices around also. read more

Lay out of the store is simple, everything is easy to find. Employees are helpful and the store isn't packed full of people which makes shopping a lot easier. read more

There appears to be a staff training issue at this store. Today my cashier did not know how to identify and charge me for a head of green leaf lettuce. Also today the bagger put two bottles of dish soap and a box of frozen waffles in the same bag. Upon arriving home, one entire bottle of dish soap (Seventh Generation brand) had the top pop off in the bag, soaking everything and also leaking within my vehicle. Perhaps my expectations are too high, but I have never had cleaning products bagged with food items--with good reason. Additionally, whenever I've seen the person stocking fresh cut meats in the self-serve beef section, he just chucks them about and twice I've seen packages of meat on the floor by his feet while he is stocking; it's like he doesn't care or has not been trained properly how to handle product. Although the meats have the plastic wrap over them, dropping them on the floor can split and or loosen the wrapping which can encourage spoilage so always check your packages from the meat department and watch how your purchase is bagged. read more

HEB Gattis School Doesn't Want My (VEGETARIAN) Business We loved this HEB, up until about 4 months ago. Now, if you are a vegetarian and like Amy's dinners, you better be happy with 3 Mexican dinners, one pizza, and maybe 2 hotpockets. That's IT. There are no longer any plain cheese enchildas in the other TV dinner brands either, unless you want meat sauce! VEGETARIANS DON'T EAT MEAT SAUCE. Company-wide, this is very unusual, because HEB over by 45 and Greenlawn hosts it's own, tiny, Central Market inside. So it must be the store manager at the HEB on Gattis School. Oh, the manager I spoke to did tell me that I could buy and whole CASE of one type of Amy's dinners, in advance, and they would keep them for me. Wasn't That Nice? NOT! This is my local HEB. Always very friendly. If they don't carry what I would like, ask a manager and he will get it sent to your store. Meat is always fresh. Fruits are always fresh. The line don't get very long at most time. read more

Same quality, price, and service as other HEBs - and HEB is the price champion compared to other grocery stores - BUT the product selection at this location is much smaller and slightly different than other HEBs in the same city. Also the aisles are skinnier than usual, which is really frustrating during the busy hours. It's usually good when I need to make a quick run for a common product but I have to do my weekly shopping at another HEB further away since this HEB does not everything I buy on a regular basis. read more

Grocery store seems adequate, however customer service should take a big ding. They have only one men's restroom that's shared by both customers and associates, with one urinal and one stall. I had to wait a long time for the bathroom to free up. That's ridiculous! They really need to upgrade their facilities! read more

Why shop here? THE COFFEE!!! ok here's the deal. You HAVE to try the Snickernut coffee at HEB. It's $6 a bag and will COMPLETELY blow you away. As for the store, the selection is wonderful and another reason to shop here over the competition. As for prices, grab their HEB magazine when you enter the store and make sure you check their coupon display for anything you might need. HEB also runs a weekly special offer that can sometimes be really good and other times so-so. Once again, TRY THIS COFFEE!! You will NOT be disappointed. HEB has the best "fresh" chips and salsa made at a grocery store. They usually have pretty fresh fruit and vegies too. The prices are fair. The store is always packed so be prepared to walk a little ways from where you park and stand in line for a few minutes upon check out. Other than that - it is a great store! read more

I LOVE MY HEB!!!!! I woke up this morning needing eggs (and a bundt pan, and a #6 candle to bake a birthday cake for my son) so I decide to order the items via curbside. I order everything for an 11:30 am pickup, but sometime between me ordering the supplies and 11:15 am I decide I just don't feel like baking a cake. I called and asked them to add cupcakes, any cupcakes, to my order because I just didn't feel like baking. The lady on the phone said that she hoped she wasn't getting to personal then asked was it for a boy or girl and if I cared if it was chocolate or vanilla cupcakes. I told her a boy and left it up to her judgement on what to get him and it didn't need to be anything special because he's just going to lick the icing off, lol. We get to the store and 2 team members come out to the car to deliver my cake supplies, a birthday card, a balloon, and the cutest cupcakes EVER!! They absolutely didn't have to go the extra mile.. But they did. They wished my son a happy birthday and we were both soo excited!!! THIS is why I shop at HEB!! Thanks Forest Commons HEB! read more

How many people can say they always have a smile when they leave their grocery store? I LOVE this HEB. HEB is pretty good all around, but the Gattis school store is consistent and they really listen to the customer. I have bothered the managers and front staff many a times to tell them how awesome they are. I love how friendly and efficient everyone is. I have only ever had one complaint, on a particular hot day with three kids in tow and no baggers to be found. They were going through a staffing issue, and have not seen it again since! Frank, the front end manager, was very receptive to my feedback, apologizing for the inconvenience. I go to this store about 5 x's a week, (3 kids), and I am never disappointed. Today I walked into the store in a bad mood due to a horrible experience elsewhere, and walked out smiling and laughing because of the staff. They are a huge credit to our neighborhood, so much so I hate shopping anywhere else. Good job Gattis School team!!! read more

I HATE this HEB! Unfortunately it is the closest one to my home, but I still try to avoid it and go to a different location. They are often out of the produce I'm looking for. They often have rotting produce out. I was always frustrated about the way it was "organized" before the remodel because the layout made no sense. Then they remodeled and I was hopeful, even though for weekS it was a disaster. The remodel has helped ever so slightly in the organization, except for the WORST scheme EVER!! After completely redesigning the layout of the store, some jerk decided to put cereal, peanut butter & jelly, and candy in the same aisle. REALLY???? What do kids eat.... hmmmm... cereal and PB&J! Now parents shopping with kids can't conveniently AVOID THE CANDY AISLE. Utterly ridiculous. read more

Sometimes I find the shelf empty. They have a good selection of fruits and veggies. The meat dept is meh only cuz the stew meat was packed with extra fats very disappointed. HEB plus on hwy 79 does not do that. I wonder is its bc they get better meat.....?? Giving them benefit of doubts. read more

I've been shopping this store ever since it opened.The employees are always helpful.If you can't find something they'll help you find it.The other day I was there and the guy running self-check was keeping up with the computer,helping customers that needed help at the machines,helping a lady and her kids.I don't know how he was able to do that and look so calm about it because I would've been stressed trying to keep up with all that.I always see the janitors out cleaning.Is it just me though or does this store look like it's slowly turning into a Central Market? read more
