The pharmacy is horrible at the Woodway location. They are totally incompetent. Always count your medicine before you walk away from the counter because they will short you & then say their count is right when you call to tell them. This will make the wait times even longer, which are already horrible, but at least you will get all of your medicine. They should be keeping track of their prescriptions. So how do some go missing, but their count is still right. And the manager will do nothing to help you. Totally incompetent. read more

I see a lot of the reviews are for the pharmacy. I just did a grocery trip here and was pleased with the selection and the prices. I found everything I sought and at prices cheaper than I am accustomed to. The only thing I didn't like about this location was the parking lot. The rows are too narrow. I was so worried someone was going to back out into me as I made my way down the rows looking for a space. The lot was packed. read more

The Pharmacy is such a mixed bag. They are typically accurate in the prescriptions (which I cannot say about other pharmacies in town), but their pharmacy staff are the SLOWEST in town and they do not seem to care about this. I have waited well over 90 minutes in the drive though before. And inside isn't much better. 20 people in line and 2 of the workers abruptly decide to goof off and no longer wait on customers, meaning 1 person is now waiting on everyone. So, unsurprisingly, it now takes 30-45 minutes to get a Rx. read more

Pharmacy is horrible. Plan on waiting FOREVER if you go here and it doesn't matter if you go through the drive through or go inside, either way it's going to take forever. I know they have received my RX but they will never fill it unless I wait in the long line just to ask them to fill it and then I have to wait forever for them to fill it and once it's filled go wait in that long line again. This place is so busy it's not worth it. I now go elsewhere because I'm so tired of have to wait........ and wait............and wait ......... and wait for my prescriptions. Been regular costumer at this HEB for the longest period of time. Always been satisfied and fresh produce and experience except today. Manager of the self checkout Dameon was extremely rude and disrespectful. He let himself talk nasty stuff about me, while I was talking to a store manager he ran behind me and yelled "I am not talking to you sweetie", while I was not talking to him and was talking to the manager. This dude is crossing a line from simply not being in a good mood and being extremely disrespectful. If you ever see him at self check out just walk differently direction. I know H‑E‑B has their loyal customers but being new to Texas and having been exposed to many other grocery stores in a few other states that I have lived in, I am not that impressed with H‑E‑B. Their prices are not anything special... pretty average & their online (App) coupons are confusing and not that good. I don't want to have to buy something to get a deal on something else. The store is usually stocked good & clean so that's a plus. But the Cashiers are almost always cold & aloof (rude). I have yet (it's been a year now) to experience a friendly H‑E‑B Cashier. The wrappers are always sweet though. I wish there were more Grocery store options in Waco. Aldi is gross, Walmart is not good for produce & meat.... So H‑E‑B is the only other convenient option. That's probably why the Cashiers are moody.... H‑E‑B is too busy ! read more

in response to Monique T re the id's for alcohol... I used to teach the Alcohol Sellers Class for this region of HEB. Unfortunate that your situation escalated to such an extent. I worked for this company 25 years. My husband also and still does. The point I'd like to make is that alcohol laws are strict and if there is a doubt the answer is no. better safe than sorry when dealing with the TABC. Unfortunately some managers don't know how to handle that properly. That's a shame bc no one wants to lose a customer. Sounds like a bad situation all around but please consider the liability they are under if the sell illegally. Sorry this happened. I completely understand the staffing situation around Hewitt and Waco, however, this location never has anyone bagging groceries (again, I get it)! But, when management stands there and watches all the customers bagging their own groceries without lifting a finger to help, it really pisses me off! read more

There was a lady at self checkout a older one and she was so RUDE! I forgot a item and she rudely says " Yeah you can go get it." I thought normally you should send a bagger to go get a item for a customer. She didn't even offer and yes there was baggers there Didn't welcome me to the self checkout, didn't even say have a good day, like any H-E-B employee is trained to do so Wish her name was on the receipt, I do know she had blonde hair. This took place on July 30th about 2pm. But on the other hand there was a lady in cooking connection and she was super nice. Better service in the back of the store than the front. read more

Manager called me and has started to address the self checkout issues. Last few times in I did not get forced into the self checkout. Manned Express lane was open as well or lines were short and we got out quickly. HEB: Best produce and prices almost always. Staff is typically friendly and helpful. read more

They do not take kindly to out of staters. We just bought our first house here in town. Had a horrible experience at check out trying to buy some groceries and a six pack of beer for my husband after a long hard day of work. The young lady working the self check out was super sweet and nice! She checked my ID and said they have a policy where they have to get "manager" approval for out of state IDs. No big deal right?! So was waiting at the self check out while they had my ID since they took it from me, and were huddled around it whispering for about 10 mins while I uncomfortably stood there waiting. Low and behold the new lady finally came back and said "I can't sell you that beer because your ID doesn't match our book" I was confused and asked what specifically was wrong with it and if she was insinuating it was a fake and she rudely responded- "Yes. I think it's a fake." I was shocked by her response! I told her it's a Legal Valid out of state driver's license issued through the DMV and they can easily have a police officer verify that it is in fact my ID and not a fake. I was already extremely uncomfortable and being treated like some sort of criminal; and told them I would have my husband come to purchase the beer since we live so close; so I waited where they asked me to. After I asked again for the specifics since nobody could tell me why they kept saying it was a fake ID- they (multiple managers came out) showed me the "book" they go off and said it was because my photo was on the wrong side and had a change of address sticker. They were going off the book for 2020 issued IDs and mine was issued in 2013 so of course it looks different! BUT WAIT.. it gets even better! My husband finally arrives to purchase the beer and ask what was going on; and of course because he has an out of state ID (different state than mine due to being military) and they dug themselves into a hole by this time, they also tried to find a made up reason (couldn't give any specifics) to not sell the beer. He served in the Military for 8 years so this extremely rude, descriminitory and harassing treatment is very disturbing and insulting! Not sure how they can say it's "policy" when they have no grounds to stand on for who they choose to enforce this with, or when. It's definitely harassment based off how someone was feeling that day and not legal or morally right to harass one person based off how they look or where they're from, but not the next. My husband and I have lived here since January and purchase beer and other groceries multiple times at this HEB and the Waco location- and managers always verified our IDs were fine and sold us the alcohol. But not today! Out of principle I called the police non emergency to have them come and verify our drivers licenses- once the managers heard me on the phone with the police non emergency they quickly said they'd take my husband's based off last years book(but again, not mine) and quickly ran off to the back. The officer came and was extremely nice and helpful he verified the IDs are in fact real and went to look for the staff to inform them. He went into the back to locate them. Of course they pretended to not be there and hid... literally HID from the police officer. If that doesn't prove they knew they're full of BS I don't know what does. He told the staff that was there to let their managers know that our IDs are in fact real and valid. Long story short-- will never be shopping at HEB again and issuing a formal complaint for the horrible treatment and harassment we received. read more

I love this H-E-B, however, recently I've been disappointed in the produce selection. I only like to buy organic and they only have a limited selection, so sometimes I have to buy outside of the organic section. The non-organic ginger I bought is disgustingly blue on the inside. I know they use root killer on ginger, but they must of used so much it turned the root blue! See pictures for details. I think this is unacceptable and not safe for consumption. Also, the organic berries they have are almost always moldy, and they are flavorless, especially the 'HEB organics' brand berries. It's a waste of money. The non-organic berries don't taste great either. I guess I can go to the farmers market, but they're only open Saturday mornings. I really wish H-E-B would step up their produce game and be my favorite grocery store again! read more

This store is amazing, I do all my grocery shopping there as much as I can. The customer service is top notch and they always have at least several check outs open, so I never have to worry about long lines normally. During this corona virus outbreak they have been amazing at having baskets ready to wipe down, offering hand sanitizer as people walk in, enforcing social distancing, and working hard to keep shelves stock and limiting items sold per customer so to try and make items available to more people. read more

This isn't a grocery store... this is a Wal Mart Wannabee Filthy Dirty And Empty Shelves. Multiple items on my list ... they didn't even have a place for on the empty shelves. No stew meat, No slab bacon, No ham hock, No cheesecloth, No frozen raspberries. And this was on Friday night before Easter. Ok, so sometimes I'm a little rough on some things in Central Texas, mainly because I've become a bit biased having lived in the Bay Area now for over 10 years. But this HEB Plus is definitely a bright spot in the local grocery world. For the last several years I've been coming to visit my family during the holidays, and always make it down to this HEB to grab food to make during the stay. As supermarkets go, this place is BIG. It's not just big, it's BIIIIG. The selection of stuff is pretty huge, although there are some limitations that left me wanting - namely no real fresh seafood (the Gulf of Mexico is only a half day drive away), the vegetables weren't always the freshest (for example, the bok choi looked a bit wilted already), and the Asian foods section is pretty tiny (one shelf wide) and laughable for anyone that's coming from an area with a large Asian community. But otherwise, this place is just big and jammed with all the regular fixins you'd want for most family dinners. Come to think of it, I've never been to another local grocer - that's how well this place takes care of a pseudo California food snob like me. read more

By far the best grocery store in Waco, TX. It has the largest selection and cleanest store of all your options. Prices are comparable to Walmart, but the quality seems higher. It's the only grocery store in town that carries some of the special diet, gourmet soda options that I can't find anywhere else in town. At peak shopping times the parking lot can get pretty full, but there are plenty of spaces, it may just be a bit of a hike in the heat to the front doors. The only reason I can't give this store 5 stars is that I've been to Whole Foods, and know what the pinnacle of grocery stores looks like, but for Waco, TX, this is as good as it gets. Full grocery store with organic options, full pharmacy with lots of generics to help save money, and just about anything else you could want (TVs, beach towels, the usual super store selection). read more

The fruit is always beautiful, the store is always clean, cashiers are friendly and helpful, bathrooms are very clean, lots of free samples and of course great prices. The only negative is that H-E-Buddy is always sick on Saturday & Sunday, so the kids can not use their H-E-Buddy Bucks. read more

Great HEB Plus! Nice, big store! Nicer than Walmart for sure. Reminded me a little of a Super Target but the prices are cheaper. The bulk aisle is awesome, was able to score my son some really yummy veggie chips. They had a great selection of pre-made sandwiches, salads, dinner sides,etc. but some of the sandwiches were labeled incorrectly. Bought a salad and half a turkey and Munster cheese sandwich to find out when I got home that it was indeed turkey and pepper jack cheese. That was a disappointment! read more

I love this store! They have recently changed the organic produce area so that it is consolidated. The HEB brand products are great, and I use them as frequently as I can. True confessions: my husband and I love the food samples! We shop early afternoon on the weekends to get ideas for meals. Today, I purchased pork loin based on the taste sample - never have purchased this before, but enjoyed it tonight for our dinner. Fabulous! We went to CVS to purchase non-produce specials only to discover they were the same at HEB, where we went for groceries. Live and learn! Employees are friendly and helpful, especially in the meat department. Love you guys! read more

They were smart to do this because most of the patrons are loyal to HEB and do not want to go to Wal-Mart unless they have to. I recently moved here and my only saving grace was the fresh OJ. This location had a part break on their machine in late July. It has YET to be fixed. A manager once said the wrong part was delivered and they are waiting on the right one, but coming from service industry 3 months is more than adequate time to get the appropriate part to fix the machine. read more

This is for the Deli section of ALL HEB Stores. I used to enjoy your Roaster Chickens, but now I find they are tasteless. This is true even when marked as "Mesquite BBQ" or "Lemon Chicken" and what ever happened to "Jalapeno"? I end up boiling the meat off the bone, adding sauce, and making my own BBQ sandwiches.. Overall, this is a good HEB. There meat dept isn't bad but wish they carried pork ribs (the country style kind) more often. I tend to have a hard time finding that here. The other issue that I see is that the checkout lines tend to be very long and move pretty slowly. Seems like they are understaffed at the peak times on the front end. read more

I love shopping at HEB. Their prices are reasonable, and there are usually good deals. The employees are not friendly. I was in there yesterday with my son. I passed several HEB employees in several departments, and not one of them said a word. I'm not trying to be best friends or anything, but the employees should be greeting the customers. The only employee that said anything was the girl running the register. I bagged my own groceries, which I actually prefer. She was speedy and pleasant. I did find everything I wanted, including some excellent prices on some clearance Christmas items. read more
