I really don't know how to feel about this place. Everyone raves about the company in general, and I have seen good reviews. It also reminds me of farmer's markets I've been to in other states. The people here are super nice on almost a Stepford Wives creepy level, where everyone greets you with a smile. I'm starting to feel a little scared. At least they greet you though if that's what you're into? The main problem I'm having is the lack of variety. There are almost no zero sugar drink options, and no matter what section you're in, there are tiny selections. It also seems a bit pricey? Also, I came in during the morning, and not much was stocked in a lot of places. I can also tell the overnight crew doesn't spend much time conditioning because the presentation is not good. A lot of things were just thrown wherever, which shouldn't be that way first thing. I may need to revisit this review at a later time but for now, I'm not feeling it. read more

Great HEB location right off the highway in Harker Heights. The HEB gas station is located directly in front of the store and usually has some of the cheaper prices in the city. Parking isn't the best and is probably the main reason why I don't frequent this location as much, but HEB is still HEB so there's no losing there. Having 3 locations in Killeen definitely helps when one location is out of stock of a particular item and the fact that they aren't too far away from each other also helps. Again, not my favorite location, but still convenient to visit at times. read more

I love HEB. Each location is different but at its core, they're the same. Items are usually fresh. Only once have I been to this location and the entire Apple bin was bad (it seems like one rotten one got to the rest) and when I brought it up to the associate, he didn't hesitate remove the bin and bring another out from the back. The bakery is my son's favorite! The bakers are always so nice to him and they seem to enjoy being back there with the baked goods. The fresh meat section also has good customer service. Like usual a bad experience. Our home store is Belton, once in a while when out in Harker Heights we stop in. We last visited Saturday the 23rd. Every single time we do we are disappointed. Three of our usual items not stocked, Belton does. Rotisserie chicken here, yuck. Belton tastes better. Asked an older fella behind the meat counter to please cut down a package of 2.5lb Tri tip to 1lb. as there is only two of us, he went back to ask the butcher then came back and said butcher simply said no. WTF?!?! We get that done in Belton alllllll the time without hesitation. You would rather sell no meat than some? Buddy you are LAZY! So even though this location is convenient to our gym, we and I will gladly drive all the way to the Belton location for more variety and much better service. read more

It's convenient to go here especially after work because it's on my way home. What I like about this particular HEB is that it's located close to the free way. HEB Plus is a cross between a Walmart and Kroger and if you are ever in Texas a visit to HEB is a must. They offer everything TEXAS; they have the famous Whataburger ketchup, spicy ketchup and mustard. Specialty nuts such as; dill pickle trail mix, Texas heat, sweet and sassy, pizza flavored almonds, smoked jalapeno almonds, mocha almonds, churro almonds, French vanilla flavor almonds, chips, cookies, Mexican snacks and candy galore! Why do I feel like there's one of these every other mile or so?! (Why am I complaining?!) It's bizarre enough that I've never been here considering it's the most convenient, but I found myself in dire need of a few things for some homemade cooking. Big Bro directed me to come here. I didn't believe him when he told me it was here. (I don't know why I never noticed it as often as I come through!) But what a delight to find it really does exist! There was ease finding what I needed. A little smaller than most HEB's I've been to, but nothing to complain about. They had everything I needed. Clean store overall and friendly staff. Ok for H-E-B. Guess I'm spoiled! The Waco H-E-B s are awesome!! You get so much savings there and a better variety. However, we're not there anymore and I have to say, Harker Heights H-E-B is not bad. They have a very friendly staff. If you find one in the floor, they are eager to help you. But the placement of goods ( many too high for a customer to reach) and the unavailability of certain brands really frustrates me. I have to go to other store to find everything I need. H-E-B is also higher in their prices, unless you buy their brand. Although most of their brands are good, I use many of them, I'm picky enough about taste that they have not quite matched yet. The experience here was over all good, the isles and set up here are a little different than others in the area. They enforce Covid-19 related standards , they also have wipes Available if you want extra precautions with the carts in the front of the store. The Staff here seem to be patient and very helpful. Visited this place twice so far, once to see the grocery store for ourselves and the second time was for picking up our groceries through the mobile app. Both visits were amazing. My husband and I loved how organized the store is, how clean it is and how all the employees are so welcoming. Due to Covid and our busy schedule the other day, we had to request a in store shopper to pick out our groceries for us. Mind you I was pretty skeptical because they are some careless individuals in this world. But I have to say whoever picked out my groceries especially the produce did an amazing job, I wish I could hug that person. They convinced me to do this more often when my schedule is hectic. I live less than 3 miles away from this location, yet I drive to the newer HEB on Stan Schlueter (which is 10 miles away) because of how poor this store is. I have given them chance after chance to redeem themselves, but they just keep failing at the simplest of things. For starters, no one in this store seems to know, or care about, the proper way to bag anything. Various employees have bagged my organic produce with raw meats, stacked canned goods on top of soft items (like bread or fruits), or just attempted to see how much they can stuff into one bag! The employees are also rude at times. I was in line behind another customer once and was shocked to hear the cashier and bagger complaining about "those people" who, "Insist on having their items bagged a certain way." They went on throughout the duration of the transaction about how those type of people, "Get on their nerves," and how, "The stuff is all going to the same house, so why did it matter?" The cashier was shocked when my turn to check out came and I told her that my kids would bag my items, because I was, in fact, "One of those people who gets on her nerves." I told her I expect that the food I pay for is packed in a way that won't damage or cross-contaminate the other food. I also told her that if they would pay attention to the way things are placed on the conveyor belt it wouldn't be such a big chore. Regardless, since I'm a paying customer, it shouldn't matter what THEY prefer, or don't, if I ask for my purchase to be bagged a particular way, they should accommodate me. My money pays them, after all. It's not just the lack of consideration in the bagging area, it's also the lack of quality produce they stock and the lack of products on the shelves, in general. The whole store seems to be under-stocked on a regular basis. I walked up to the seafood department on one trip looking to purchase some fresh Gulf shrimp that they had on sale. I was asked to "wait a minute" by the seafood clerk while she pulled bags of frozen shrimp out of the adjacent freezer. I watched in disbelief as she walked back around to the seafood department, opened these frozen bags of shrimp, and dumped them into the display case I was standing in front of. I walked over to the freezer she pulled them from and saw that the shrimp they were trying to pawn off as fresh, was not only two dollars cheaper per pound; it was also frozen. I asked her if that was something they thought was acceptable and she said she did it all the time. Nothing in the seafood section is ever fresh- not even the Gulf shrimp that they claim is. Well, it MAY be, it might not be, you just have to hope for the best. The store is also in desperate need of a renovation or facelift. It seems run-down and dreary. It's not a place I ever to looked forward to going to- and I'm a chef who loves grocery shopping! I've spoken with the store manager, the assistant store manager, and even with the CEO of the company about my complaints. They all seem to fall on deaf ears. With the profit margin of grocery stores, and the fact that there's so much competition, you would think that they would hold their partners accountable for their lack of concern for their customers. Things like bagging groceries or keeping inventory stocked is an easy fix. It just seems like they don't care. Hence, the reason I don't recommend or patronize this location anymore. It's a shame, too. I hate wasting the gas when they're supposed to be "My HEB." read more

I was looking for the best value for bathroom tissue and paper towels that were on the shelf. I guess my critical review of prices caught the attention of a very friendly manager. She recommend I try the H-E-B brand tissue and paper towels. She expressed that if I did not like them I could get my money back. I replied, will you put that in writing? She replied, what a minute. She left and returned with a coupon for free tissue and paper towels for the H-E-B brand. This action speaks to the high level of confidence she has in the quality of HEB products and I am glad she works in this store. read more

Worst experience shopping here! I'm not sure why it's voted "best in Texas!" The manager here is rude and condescending. I promise you, I will never shop at another HEB again. Every time I go, there is a rude customer, employee, or it is just busy and not enough registers open to accommodate for everyone shopping. They do not bag produce and bread correctly. They don't offer self check out for more than 10 items, where as Walmart does. It's too bad because I really enjoy their sushi but I guess I'll just get that at Sam's Club. read more

No longer a safe bet for organic produce in Harker Heights. The great setup they had for organic fruits & veggies has been changed - it's as if they've abolished convenience. Organic fruit & veg are now tucked in among the conventional stuff, so one has to be careful & double-check that you're actually getting what you want. The old saying goes, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it.' I am extremely dissatisfied with the teeny, tiny, tucked away "organic" section --- why even bother? The watermelons were covered in strange white powder and the fruits all looked iffy. Every single produce item looked old. For example, every avocado was squishy and I am shocked that the standard is so low. The good things: Location and hours are great. The service is great. The carts are gigantic. They have packaged and processed foods galore. Everything comes in a gigantic tub: A gigantic tub of ice cream. Butter in a gigantic tub. What's more bizarre? The person who writes a review about a grocery store or the person who read it? I'm not sure. As I'm writing this I've been in Texas for 1.5 years and I know HEB is a huge pert of Texas. HEB supports local, has a lot of great options, and overall is a great part of our Texas culture. This particular HEB, though, jeesh. The parking lot is a mess, the traffic pattern of the aisles (ie the store design) makes for a lot of awkward interactions with other patrons, and the carts are all dirty. The best thing about the store is the staff-- they're always pretty cool. The worst thing about the store is their 15 items or less area where you have to get in an awkward line by a felt-pen marker sign and there's no room for you stuff on the check out counter. This place is awesome it is so cheap and has great groceries. I like that fact that they close at 1am I just moved here from San Diego California and it's awesome taxes aren't high and they don't charged for plastic bags :). I always shopped in here , but the other day was awful experience. The old lady in the deli is very rude . I noticed that she's the only one, I'm having problem with. The other ladies worked in the deli were very nice . I asked her nicely to cut my cold cuts very thin coz my kids doesn't like the thick cut for their sandwiches. She asked me if, I wanted it to fall apart, I responded no, not really . So she just left and talk to her co-worker they're both looking at me and I just stood there watching them talking crap about me, it is very unprofessional. If you don't like to do it .
