I don't usually shop at H-E-B. And when I do, this isn't the one I go to, since I've got one closer to home. That being said... I actually like this one better. I usually end up here when I'm shopping with my sister, and it feels like a field trip. Now, H-E-B is not what it used to be. Sure, they still have solid products, and those yellow coupons dangling from the shelves like little golden tickets are a nice touch. But it's getting harder to find anything that's not the H-E-B brand. I don't mind their brand--it's good!--but sometimes I want something different, you know? Like sometimes you want Dr Pepper, not "Dr. Practically Pepper." And when they do stop carrying items, they don't always replace them with something even remotely similar. RIP to the snacks I'll never see again. As for service... I can't really say. I don't usually need help, so I'm not hunting for employees like they're Pokémon. That said, I did notice at least five workers a couple trips ago, busy restocking or doing mysterious cooking-connection things. This last trip, they were EVERYWHERE. It seemed like every person who works there was on duty and everywhere I turned there were people restocking and pushing large carts full of stuff. There were a few times when I felt like we were in their way since there were so many people stocking shelves and moving things around. It was kind of chaotic. The store itself is big, which means if I'm with my sister, I'm in there for at least an hour while she roams every aisle like it's Disneyland. Thankfully, the aisles are roomy, so you don't have to do awkward grocery-cart bumper cars just to get by. It's open, airy, and surprisingly refreshing for a place that sells raw chicken. And yes, I always leave with more than I came for. But isn't that just the H-E-B way? read more

I did a grocery run for my elderly diabetic disabled neighbor which consisted of 18 specialty diet items that I wasn't familiar with and HEB employee Blayne was so kind enough to assist me in locating said items and that was huge because he saved me so much time and really appreciated all his effort, attention and courtesy. If you want great prices but limited selection you have to go to their Joe V's. This you get the modern clean new shopping experience but you have to shop the sales and coupons for good prices. Great pharmacy. Good produce section. Big on wine and beer but not great prices. HEB, on the whole, is great for fresh Texas products and good at supporting the community, so occasionally Republicans get mad at them. read more

This place is awesome. My wife needed a scooter and they got one for her. These are the largest scooters in the world. Large aisles and super well lit. Met the beer wine manager Cyprus who was vrry friendly. Not just the food items but every thing is in its place. My husband purchased me chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine's from this HEB. As soon as I bit into them I noticed growing live bacteria due to spoilage. This bacteria causes foodboren outbreaks of salmonella, e.coli, and hepatitis A (all leading to possible cases of death). Never visiting this HEB again due to their food health negligence. Pretty disappointed in your grab and go section, paid $5 for the Thai chicken wrap and it looked full from the package. When I opened it the tortilla was falling apart from not being wrapped tight together because they wanted to give the illusion that the wrap was full. It was falling apart, and half empty. Had to rip off the back half of the Tortola where it was empty like the picture. So basically I paid $5 for half a wrap in total. Don't buy their wraps just go to chic fil a, like I should've in the first place. read more

New store. Only open a few weeks. Customer service was ok. The store is much larger than the store they closed on Center St. My big disappointment was that I felt the prices had gone up more (probably did as they moved to a newly built building). I felt the selection wasn't quite as good as the older store. The bread aisle seemed much smaller, with not much of a selection to choose from. The bakery area.. well..... you walk through there and they have all the doughnuts out in a bin, but they aren't covered!!!! They are out in the open air! Such a BIG turn off for me. (I will be posting a pic). They are in a bin like a self service salad bar. I'm sorry, if a kid is tall enough to lick the doughnuts, they need to be in an enclosed case. For the merchandise I bought there today, I could have gotten so much more than that at the Kroger I go to. Yes. my primary visit was to check out the new store. Overall good HEB which also houses a large outdoor section which is the biggest difference between this HEB and others. The variety is average compared to other HEBs especially comparing to the other larger HEBs but better than some competitive grocery stores. They could expand on their healthy food options and pre packaged foods. There is plenty of parking and generally many cashiers so getting in and out is easy. Bottom line...good grocery store overall but could be enhanced with more healthy food options such as organic snacks read more

This store is good for produce and that's about it. Last Saturday I went shopping here.. and spent $300...and I was very disappointed in the quality of ALL of their bakery goods and meat, seafood. The bakery cookies, you pay $4.98 to get 6 cookies were past their due date. They just put a new sticker on the box not even bothering to cover the expired sticker! When I'm paying a dollar a pop for a cookie, I at least expect it to be good for a couple of days, not expired. They didn't have any bakery goods that were fresh. And to top it off, all the old stuff now contains GMO's! Everything in the bakery has GMO's in it! Do you mean to tell me that the owner and CEO's of H-E-B that made a 61 BILLION DOLLAR PROFIT LAST YEAR have to resort to "let's see if we can chintz down on that flour and sugar and butter and put the stuff out of the test tube that causes cancer"?? Look at the labels folks if you don't believe me, "contains a bioengineered food product" is on EVERYTHING in the bakery! Even the $25 cakes!! So, if they've resorted to putting the GMO's in bakery products I can't trust them to have "clean" meat or seafood either. The only organic hamburger they had was from Australia!?? Isn't this Texas? Doesn't HEB brag on getting their beef from Texas? The chuck roasts that used to be $8 are now $20 and have so much fat in them that it's like chewing a big stick of bubblegum! Their prime ground chuck has no flavor at all PLUS now I have to worry that it's going to be near spoiled. All of these bad changes have happened in the last 6 months or so. The HEB meals? Family size. $14. You better use it the next day because you don't have any choice, that's when it expires. Their cage free eggs? The yolks are a pale yellow. They're supposed to be almost orange. Not overly pleased with this location, too many self checkouts all that does is screw someone out of a job. When they first opened they had none. If they really wanted people to use these they should offer a five or ten percent discount on the entire purchase to offset me having to do a checkers job. The selection is good and the sales are good and the produce is usually fresh so I'll continue to do some of my shopping here but I will not use the self checkouts. read more

I love this H‑E‑B! They have adjusted for COVID, and have added wipes for the carts out front and regularly spray them down with disinfectant. The store still seems new and is overall one of the cleanest grocery stores I have seen. My favorite 3 places to shop for groceries are this H‑E‑B and the clear lake Sam's and Costco... so yes this is the one time I will go to a regular grocery store to fill in the gaps between my visits to buy in bulk at the club stores! It is the holidays so Christmas trees are lined up outside and there was even an oscar meyer weiner van parked outside. My first experience at an HEB was about a year ago (I'm island girl so this is pretty exciting for me) I went to HEB to buy cheese. I walk in and spot the fresh fruits and produce, gotta get some, then I walk in a little further and bam there's the bread and the lady making warm tortillas, gotta get some, keep going and this guy says " would you like to try our margarita mix?" I was like yes sure! After that all I know is that I tried 4 different sushi, had some pie and left with two bottles of wine, bacon, a cheese party pack, bread, flowers, trail mix, juice and some beauty and pharmaceutical items. So basically I attended a supermarket party and got to take home party favors that I payed for. See, the supermarkets I am used to have the basics; cash registers, unfriendly faces, deli meats, milk and eggs. HEB is an experience. One thing I love about any HEB is how they consistently come off as clean, spacious, and provide a great mix of products across a seamless sea of options for the casual shopper or those who are in and out in a matter of minutes, but each store has a personality that reflects the needs of it's most loyal customers. Having been to a good number of HEB's in the Greater Houston Area, I can say that the design of each HEB provides a certain "shopping flow" that provides for the optimal shopping harmony for those who pay attention to the pattern. Of course, all stores do this, but there is an HEB way. You know fruit, vegetables, meat, bakery products, and other food stuffs will be on one side of the store while beauty products, pharmaceutical items, and other related stuffs will be on the other. No different here. As I walked in, it was easy to access the restrooms which were located on the hallway to my right as I walked in. No paper towels to wipe my hands, but there was an environmentally friendly air dryer that you pass your hands though. I like these way better than those dryers you place your hands under for like 2 mins, they never get dry, and you feel like your hands may acquire more germs just by pressing the silver button sometimes. As I walked out, I noticed there were also like 2 family restrooms. No need for me, but just fyi if you have kids. Since this is my personal review, I will use this next part to describe the items I was looking for that pleased and displeased me. I was pleased to see bananas on sale $0.39/lbs. I bought 2 for like $0.33. Since I eat a few of these a day, I won that round of item shopping. Having a taste for some gluten-free, vegan crackers, I wanted some crackers made with flax seed, quinoa, and other natural ingredients to go with some vegan cream cheese. I found the crqckers for a good price. When I asked for help finding the cream cheese, I was directed to a section I had thoroughly checked only to let the staff member know I did not see the "cream cheese" there. I looked on the other side of the store, but no cream cheese in sight. Since cream cheese without crackers is like a sandwich without Miracle Whip (for you lactose tolerant folks), I had to put the crackers back. Feeling like I was missing something to go with my bananas (B-A-N-A-N-A-S), I was able to find a granola blueberry mix on my way out for a good price. $2.52 total for everything. Although I spent a heck of a lot of time here only to leave with $2.52 worth of food, sometimes it's good just to hang out at Club HEB when you have time to spare. The only downside of this HEB is that there did not seem to be a lot of staff around. I think I only saw like five people around the store doing stuff while a few more were located at the cash registers. There's a part of me that thinks there should have been more employees walking the isles to help customers as opposed to being at the registers. Isn't that what self checkout is usually for? Oh well. Good HEB though...except, for a person with my lifestyle, I wish they had more vegan options. read more

I stop here often after work, usually 3-4x per week. The olives at the Mediterranean bar always look unappealing. They are wrinkled and have salt crystals built up on them. I even saw mold growing on the mushrooms once. Either take the bar out completely or keep it up better. The Meal Simple selection is usually picked over by the time I get there after 7:00pm. I wouldn't advise shopping on the weekends since it's the busiest time. They do OK getting to keep the crowds controlled and they are well staffed which you won't find at other competitors. Also all of the registers are open. My only critique would be a lack of selection. They are not as big as others and it does seem that prices here are higher than older Hebs like the one on center street. read more

It was wonderful to have another grocery option beyond the Super WalMart across the street. This HEB remains well kept and service is attentive. What has not happened at the Deer Park HEB is they do not have the small businesses selling cellphones or doing mani-pedi inside the store like has happened at other large HEB's. The access could be better, but I am sure it will improve with the construction of a new shopping center immediately east of the DP HEB. read more

This review is for the Bakery. First off, this HEB has an amazing bakery from what the eye can see, and their cakes are tasty (someone once got me a bday cake from HEB), so I was excited to order a birthday cake for a coworker. I ordered a marble cake, which was what my coworker requested. I was told on the phone that marble cake only comes in a full sheet or half sheet. We have a small office, so I didn't need such a big cake BUT if that's the only sizes... I said sure, half a sheet it is. When we cut into the cake at work, we discovered that it was not marble - it was chocolate cake with vanilla cake stacked. There was nothing to hold the stacked pieces together, so as we cut (very carefully), it fell apart with each cut. People asked all day, "Why does it look like someone destroyed the cake pieces?" Well, y'all... that's what I paid for. A fall-apart non-marble cake. And hey - the cake tasted delicious. It was pretty before we cut it. But the birthday girl did not approve, so I called and politely asked what "marble" is, and they explained that they were "out of marble", which is why they stacked the vanilla and chocolate instead. I'm not a professional baker, but I do know the process behind making a marble cake. When I asked the employee what marble was, I asked to see what they THOUGHT marble was. They couldn't combine the two batters and swirl? Either I am missing something, they are missing something or someone messed up. I paid EXTRA for a bigger cake than what was needed just for marble, and I didn't even get a marble cake. Also, the birthday girl did some research by going online to the HEB website and discovered that they actually sell quarter sheets for marble. This I was not told when I called. Lesson learned for this customer - I'll stick with the Kroger bakery, where I have never had any issues. read more
