Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely a new H-E-B fan, but... Maybe it was because I went to this Abilene, Texas location on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving (2023). Maybe I didn't like the hustle and bustle of hoards of folks at merely 2PM. Maybe I thought the employees could have been friendlier & more assistive. Maybe the store could have been tidier. The store was mostly organized and clean, but it could have been better. I know I'm probably harsh due to the turkey day frenzy, but I saw lots of employees to say the least. Their H-E-B line of goods was interesting. All of them are placed in the middle of each aisle. They have some of the same if not better products than the big brands at a lower cost. They had special items - tons of them - for sale. My purchase... + HEB three cheese and shells mac n cheese ($.88) + HEB mac and cheese ($.88) + HEB easy melt shells & cheese ($2.28) + HEB natural crunchy peanut butter ($2.38) + 14-oz cranberry & thyme hand soap ($1.49) + Cowboy Santa ornament ($5) Overall, I have a feeling there are better H-E-B stores in Texas.

Had everything I needed plus More. They also sell fresh made sushi that was good! Will come Back for Sure

    NOT PD A DIME YET!!!

HEB truck drove through my fence on Nov 17 2023. The driver tried to leave the property without contacting me the land owner. I had cattle in this pasture close to the road. This Jan12, 24 and they have not and have not paid me anyting for damages. I had to repair the fence so the cattle did not get out on a very busy hiway and kill someone. HEB really cares about livestock and those who make a leaving off of them.

Giving me some pretty good ideas! Yummy!

Best grocery store in town, but overcrowded, not enough checkers and why oh why don't you build a bigger, better store in far South Abilene?

I love this grocery store! It has so much more variety than united or wal-mart. Always good samples, fresh food and great prices!

Huge selection and cheap prices. I left here with a cart full of food for under $175. The store is clean and check-out is quick.

Popped into this ALDI on the Tuesday afternoon before Thanksgiving 2023…read more It's a decent ALDI. Been to several in California. This is the first Texas store of its kind I've shopped. The usual setup applies: bring a quarter to the locked carts out front. Shop. The cashier uses your cart in a hurried fashion to reload the groceries NOT into bags after they've been scanned. You bag them yourself at the long counter near the exit. All of this cuts back on prices... which inflation has still affected ALDI but not nearly as bad as I thought it would. If I had a cooler with me, I would have picked up a few fridge & freezer items. Their specialty section was a bit in disarray. Pretty normal sight actually. Then I think to myself, I'm glad to not be going to those folk's houses. Lol. Thank you to the nice lady who gave me her cart in the parking lot. I tried to give it away again, but got a no thank you. Ha!

As I shopped today, I paid attention, and yes, they are cheaper on most things, if not everything. And they have SO many things that other stores don't have. When I walked into United Supermarket side entrance today in effort to reach their Deli. I asked, an employee sitting where I normally sit, "Is the Deli still open?" The man responded, yes, it's on the counter ready to be served. Upon approaching the counter, I encountered a clear reluctance to be served. The female employee present ignored my presence in effort to enjoy a meal and instead turned to another male employee sitting nearby to ask if the deli was still open. Despite my own uncertainty regarding the current time, I found the behavior of the staff to be unprofessional and exclusionary, reminiscent of college hazing. The employee appeared to find humor in my presence and further escalated the situation by suggesting there might be a better time for me to visit the restaurant. I found this behavior dismissive and entirely inappropriate for a customer service environment. For this reason, I asked for the store manager but ended up speaking with Roy Silva. As a senior citizen with a disability and at one time, dedicated to serving this community, I found the behavior displayed to be both cruel and distressing.

Is that necessarily a bad thing? I suppose not. However, it is a strange choice for a grocery store and I did notice that the store is already getting a bit of a foul odor. For that reason, I believe the carpet was a mistake. The fresh produce section was decently stocked. While he produce is all things you can find at other stores, I would certainly label this produce section as ample. The meat section is bit small. They have the very basics, but certainly nothing special. And although I did purchase a few meat items, some of the beef appeared dark brown in color and it was off-putting. The rest of the store is a bit disorganized. We take for granted that most stores follow the same pattern as far as what items are stocked near other particular items. That was not the case here. What struck me most--and please forgive me for sounding pretentious--was the rowdiness of the customers. I would normally chalk these instances up to isolated incidents, but at Cash Savers, I encountered at least three annoyances. First, there were a couple of kids--maybe 10 or 11--who got their hands on a motorized shopping cart. They were driving around the store, goofing around, crashing into carts, and when they got bored doing that, they parked the cart sideways in an aisle blocking it. We also encountered a large family with young children, the kids were walking down the chips/snacks aisle and smashing each bag that was within reach to crush the chips. Then in the parking lot, several cars were not following the lines and it threw off the entire parking lot. What did I like? The prices on items are darn cheap, including some items that are fairly expensive at HEB or Market Street. For those few items alone, today was worth the hassles. I would come back here, but would love to see them expand their meat selection.

So I'm in a habit of bringing in only cash on hand when I go to an establishment such as this. Normally I'd pay attention to how much I'm spending so as not to exceed the amount I brought in, but I guess the freezing cold outside froze my brain and did not pay much attention to what I was doing. So this time around I did exceed the amount of my purchase by 62 cents. I offered to go back out to my car to retrieve some change, I even offered to put back one of my items, but she wouldn't have any of it. Instead, without much thought, she reached into her purse and paid for what I was lacking. Now, 62 cents may not sound like a lot, but 62 cents may mean a lot to give to a stranger, not knowing her situation. She could have taken me up on my options to come up with what was lacking, but instead she chose to be kind, to be understanding. Donna, if you ever get a chance to see this, I want to say thank you and that we need more people like you. Blessings to you!
