Market Street is on the wrong side of town for me. They are too busy, and their prices are too high. But I manage to be there almost every Friday. Why? It's $5 sushi day! They had a lot of selection of different brands of foods than I'm used to seeing in my local grocery store. horrible experience with first time picking up groceries. The total I agreed to pay was around $63. there were 4 items that werent in stock and i requested no substitutes. They have charged me three times in my account. An $80 charge, the $63 charge and another charge of $20. I also noticed that they did not apply my $30 discount as promised through a promo code for first time using pick up. i have tried to contact Market street but have not received a reply. Needless to say I am very pissed off and will not be using pickup again. i pickup at walmart once a week and i never have this problem. read more

Have purchased navel oranges 3 times frim Chile over last 2-3 years with BLACK MOLD inside. Buy only USA NAVEL ORANGES. Was the mold due to poor storage techniques at this store? Customer service acts like they care but nothing changes. Yesterday, 4/3/25 purchased blueberries by "berryworld" from Ontario 2/3rds of the berry were rotten. In 40 years this is the only chain that sells rotten fruit and vegetables. Talked with a man in HEB who said he ran into that at Market Street with potatoes. I only buy from HEB even though it's much further. I guess we are stupid for hoping the closer store would give a "damn." I have yet to call the health department. They probably don't care either. One employee at Market Street said that their employees are not trained to handle food. Oh well. Never saw this consistently until I shopped this store. I would recommend using another pharmacy. There is NO personal service from many of the employees and most of the pharmacist. Now I need to say they have some good, really good caring people. But when there Is a screw up it is never their fault and they will be no help fixing it. So if there is glitch in the computer system you are screwed. So if I can find a smaller pharmacy that takes Medicare, I will change. read more

I have been getting mine and my kids prescriptions here since 2018 today was the final straw they are always pretty unhappy workers and not very friendly but you will not be rude to my 19 year old son who is trying to be a adult and do it on his own. He went in for his precipitations today only one was ready but "insurance will not cover this" so he called me I called up there 5 mins later it's covered come on why couldn't you just help him and get it covered I should NOT have to call up there for him. I went in because at this point he didn't want that older lady with the black short hair to be rude and ugly to him again he had 2 other prescriptions that they said one isn't covered and they will have to call the dr and the other they don't have. At this point I'm pretty angry but we just pay and leave. And this is stuff he can't live without being a type 1 diabetic. I called HEB pharmacy to transfer within a hour his prescriptions were moved and magically he did have the prescription they said they didn't see. I will be moving all my prescriptions because there is absolutely no excuse for them to be so lazy and RUDE to us. Honestly I don't think I'll go to Marketstreet at all anymore I'm just over it. And now looking at their reviews they never address the bad ones only the ones who praise them so nothing with ever change there. read more

Although I love the grocery store, the pharmacy is terrible. My presctiption for eye drops was sent to them from the doctor at 5:20pm on a Thursday afternoon. I was told it would be one to one and a half hours. That was fine. I knew they were busy. At 9:00 pm (3 hours 40 minutes) later and it still wasn't ready. I finally left and drove home. As I live out of town, I will now need to call a local pharmacy to get it transferred. I chose Market Street so I would be able to start my medications that evening. I will not take a chance on Market Street pharmacy again. read more

Was getting prescriptions @ CVS before they cheated me out of $197.49 on a 60 day supply of 40 MG Omeprazole. I changed my pharmacy to Market Street, literally 1/2 block away from CVS. Sarah and Debbie at the Pharmacy processed my prescription. $12.50!! CVS Pharmacy, $209.99 for the same medicine. I refuse to ever step foot back in the Market Street at 4450 Buffalo Gap Rd, Abilene, TX. I will not NOW OR EVER be argued with by a little flip-tailed still wet behind the ears cashier. I know what my reward number is and I don't need for her to snap back at me with "that's not right" time and time again as she is not getting the number to work. Not my fault if the system is down and she doesn't know about it, the system is always down for some reason or other. I entered my number in the device, it didn't take, she entered several times , each time with her "I know you're wrong" attitude and then after each try saying "That's NOT right" I keep telling her it's right, like I said I know what my rewards number is. The 1 star rating is being very generous. No star would have been my first choice. This has got to be the absolutely worse pharmacy in Abilene (we live out of town). My doctor prescribed two (2) ophthalmic drops and these were sent to the Market Street Pharmacy. at approximately 5:15 pm today (12/05/2024). After standing in line for about 15 minutes I made it to the window. I told the clerk my name and DOB and she checked and said it wasn't ready yet and it would be about an hour to an hour and a half. I told her I lived out of town but that didn't matter. I was wanting to transfer the prescription but the clerk told me the new pharmacy would have to do that. I wasn't very happy at this time but my wife came up and I calmed down a bit. The clerk put my wife's number in the system and then said they had these drops and there shouldn't be a problem. She then said it probably won't take as long as they were saying. We left and checked out and time time on the receipt was 5:52. pm. We hung around Abilene until about 7:30 pm (close to the hour and a half they were quoting). its now about 9:50 and guess what? No, we haven't received a text advising us the prescriptions are ready. But it's only been nearly FOUR (4) hours after they told us one to one and a half hours. I guess that's acceptable to some folks but not me. I take someone at their word and I guess to expect we would have received notice it was ready in a timely is asking too much. NOT, honesty is an attribute which I try to convey and I expect others to do the same. I would fiercely, strongly, vehemently, suggest NOT using this pharmacy. In reading other reviews it seems a miracle this pharmacy is in business. I would like but don't expect an apology for the terrible (lack of) customer service. But, don't waste your time. We did some grocery shopping here and they had a nice selection of items. We picked up some cheeses here. Their selection wasn't as wide as we are used to seeing but it was fine. We also tried their glazed donut. It was a little dry and the dough was not as light but it had a good glaze on it. read more

The old Albertsons has been given a facelift. The store new Market Street looks great! Everywhere I turned there was a willing associate to provide assistance. I was looking for some "high end" cheese for a gourmet Mac N Cheese dish and went into that section of the deli. A nice young man went into great detail on the Boars Head cheese. He seemed to know his stuff, and offered a free sample. When I mentioned what I was using it for, another associate who overheard our conversation recommended a different cheese that she had used before in a dish similar to what I was making. So I choose that one! The. I had to find Panko (what ever that is). I asked someone who was stocking and he dropped what he was doing, not knowing what it was either. He found a supervisor for me, who also didn't know what it was...(don't blame him... Who gets this stuff anyway?) Turns out it's bread crumbs... And right next to the shake n bake... If I had known that... Anyway, as you can see my wife doesn't let me out to do the grocery shopping often.... The associates went way out of their way to make sure I got what I needed. I have always enjoyed the larger formatted grocery store. I suffered through the reset of the store about four years ago and have retrained my brain. I love the fresh fish section, and shop at that more than at others. I like the little flower shop area, and have used it on special non-holiday occasions. We are coffee nuts, and put creamer in our coffee. Thankfully the store stocks a wide selection and assorted sizes. Hate to have to buy the industrial barrel of creamer, we tend to toss the rest before it is empty. I love their beer and wine section, well stocked and well laid out. This store will convert to a United Market Place location. I look forward to greater selections and opportunities in shopping. read more

I love this chain of grocery stores and, though this one is smaller than others I've been in, it is just as nice. Their salad bar is fresh and clean and the Starbucks is convenient. Their hot food line is decent and the store is always well stocked. But I really go for the sushi. They have some of the freshest most delicious sushi! It's the best I've found in Abilene so far...their fr ah spring roll wraps and avocado wraps are amazing. read more

The curbside pickup on the other hand is a giant unpredictable mess (or adventure) if you have no schedule to be on or don't care if things are ready in the time slot you scheduled. Was told my order wasn't ready at the prescribed pickup time and to come back an hour later; did that and waited 20min to pick up my order again. Moro church orders fried chicken from the concierge regularly and we are always very pleased with our food and Nichole is always very kind and helpful. Today we needed a funeral spray. I called and spoke with the floral department and even though this was a last minute request they were so nice and accommodating. The spray that they made was absolutely gorgeous. They did an AMAZING job!!! Many were complimentary of the flowers. I will post a picture for you to see. Hands down the WORST place when it comes to professionalism. I would NEVER recommend working there unless you want to be treated like the dirt under their shoe. INSANE amounts of turnover, they can't keep a staff to save their life. Honestly, they're prices are overrated. It's just a boujee Walmart or HEB. You can get the EXACT SAME stuff for CHEAPER elsewhere. Their point system is a complete scam and makes ZERO sense. Not to mention how they want their employees to basically SHOVE monopoly down the customers throat. Instead of asking politely if the customer is playing monopoly, they have a sign in all caps saying "DONT ASK THEM IF THEYRE PLAYING JUST GIVE THEM TICKETS" how rude does that look?? I am a 63 year old woman. These are trying times for all walks of life and I respect and appreciate all the hard work the employees of the grocery stores are putting in. I will never spend another penny of my social security check in a Market Street (united) store again. The stores prices are way more than HEB but the circumstances of finding adequate food makes us try new places. I will do without before crossing a threshold of this store. I went after hamburger meat and hopefully chicken. Found both thankfully but had planned on making casseroles out of the hamburger which required Cheddar Cheese soup and another Beef Broth. There was a sign for the soup that stated 4 for 5 dollars. I put four cans in my cart. I then purchased two cans of Beef Broth. I had put less than 20 items in my cart. Before I reached the checkout I was accosted by a man that I am assuming was a store manager and he proceeded to paw through the items in my cart wanting to make sure I hadn't gotten over the limit. I said the soup was 4 for 5 dollars and a rather loud voice with sarcasm said OH WELL THAT IS JUST THE COST PER CAN like I was an idiot. Ok that's fine how many...OH AND YOU HAVE 2 CANS OF BROTH. I was shaken up by now because people were staring probably thinking I was trying to shoplift. I said that he needed to take the sign down and I was starting to shake (I have anxiety attacks some). I said how many can I have and reached to sort through and trying to figure out which casserole would last longer and he SHOVED my hand away saying you need to PICK TWO. I wanted to leave the store right then but I really needed the meat. I repeated that the sign said 4 for 5 dollars and he said WELL what if everybody bought 4 cans and we had to shut the doors? WHAT would you do then? I replied that I would go to HEB where I was treated as a human and not a criminal. The cashier was very sweet and gracious and he tried to calm me as I was visibly shaken and the manager (I assume) saw the cashier and his attitude and came and whispered in my ear "You can always walk out and then come back in and get the soup." Shopped here yesterday & today, for something special n the way of desserts. Special occasion & I need options for approximately 30 people. I picked up a red velvet cake, chocolate decadent cake, a lemon pie & snickerdoodle cookies for a variety. All were thrown away but the decadent cake. I do not recommend tho, it was the best of the worse. One bite of the lemon pie & n the trash it went. It was awful. Red velvet cake followed, usually my favorite, but zero flavor, old & should have been thrown out 2 weeks ago. Best produce for miles, but I do not recommend the bakery products. read more

I've been shopping at Albertson's in Abilene since the 90s, first at the location that used to be on South 14th (which hasn't been around for years now but as of this moment is for some reason listed on yelp) and then after that one closed, at their Buffalo Gap Road location. I take several dietary supplements and one thing I like most about this place is that there's almost always a large number of buy one get one frees available of one brand or another. And I've noticed that they don't raise the normal price of the individual bottles during these sales to get more money out of you while trying to trick you into thinking you're getting a better bargain than you actually are, which is what some other places who have BOGO sales are guilty of. Another thing they deserve credit for is stocking products they didn't previously have available or had stopped carrying, because I requested them. Something I was also glad to see recently were tear-away forms on shelves inviting people to place requests for products they'd like to see carried, which as a customer is a gesture I really appreciate. I would normally give this store 4 stars rather than 5 because regular non-sale prices can be significantly higher than what other places charge for the same thing, and because they got rid of the self-checkouts. However, I'm giving a rating of 3 stars, and deducting one star for the following reason. I was up early this Sunday, so I decided to get out to do a little light shopping. I've never really had any sort of major problem with employees here and the way they treat me, and in general most of them are alright. There is one lady in particular who's been with Albertson's for at least ten years now (which is as far back as I remember her presence, although she might very likely have been with them longer) who I'm always glad to see when I'm there. She radiates pleasance and niceness. Today, however, I had the misfortune of encountering for the second or perhaps third time an employee whose name, if I remember correctly, is Charlotte Peele, and it was enough to motivate me to write this review. Ms. Peele possesses one of the most poisonous demeanors of any employee I've ever encountered in this town. At the moment I can think of only one other (a woman with a grey cabbage patch 'fro who manages the Burger King, which I no longer patronize) who is as startlingly unpleasant as this person. After casually perusing the store, I ended up at the register with a bottle of juice, several boxes of various teas, and two six packs of New Belgium beer, removing them from my shopping cart in that order. Ms. Peele was the only cashier on duty and there were almost no other customers to be seen anywhere in the store. When she saw the beer, she said to me "You can't buy beer before 12 on a Sunday!", which I suppose as a simple statement seems odd yet innocuous enough, and normally it would be. But the tone in which she said it to me, as if I was a total moron and/or some kind of jerk trying to get away with something unseemly, was totally unexpected and left me suddenly feeling somewhat stunned. Being unfamiliar with this law (or its logic), and unaccustomed to such automatic hostility, I could only mumble something about how that seemed strange. Furthermore, the manner in which she spoke to me wasn't just short-tempered impatience; there was something about it that felt weirdly contemptuous. She then swiftly placed the beer away somewhere and quoted me the cost of the rest of my items. I swiped the Visa in the reader, and the subsequent exchange was as follows: Me: Uh... I think I'll come back after 12 so I can buy my beer then. Peele: (said in a normal tone of voice while looking straight at me with a smile on her face.) Ok. (At this moment, she was confirming the purchase as credit and completed the transaction.) Me: Um, what I meant was (that I wanted the purchase cancelled) Peele: (fangs out again, interrupting) WELL YOU JUST SENT IT THROUGH. Me: Yeah... There was no use in the subject being discussed any more at that point. She tore off my receipt and handed it to me, and I walked out of the store half-wondering what had just happened. The way this woman seemed predisposed to so easily and dramatically alternate between a tone of perfunctory detachment and borderline venom struck me as remarkable. The thought of Ms. Peele as my cashier and having to potentially interact with her is actually enough to make me avoid being a customer there. I did end up going back to the grocery store after 12 to get my beer. But this time I went to United, not Albertson's. read more

I arrived there at about 830pm and it was busy. The selection of produce was fresh and vast. I saw the reviews on the sushi and had to buy some. In addition the salad bar was fully stocked and clean. The down side was defiantly the prices. If you are on a budget, I suggest getting your produce elsewhere. The cashier and bagged were indifferent to my presence, just another person in line. No friendly smiles or small talk, which was fine by me. Overall, getting in and out of the parking lot was a bit cumbersome because I am new to the area and followed my GPS. Some signage by the store could really alleviate the traffic flow in the parking lot. read more

The AFC sushi place is legit. I'm a sushi snob and I really like their sushi. The rolls are all good, but the Dragon Roll does taste a little weird. My favorite is the Chilli Roll though. With the nigiri, I find that there's too much rice and it's a little too sticky/hard to go with the fish, but the sashimi itself is pretty good... acceptable. I lived in Japan for two years and have eaten a lot of bad sushi since. This place doesn't have bad sushi. I've literally had it 5x a week for the last 3 weeks and I'm going back today. We buy good ground beef in butcher case, good sales, friendly helpful staff. They will wrap several one pound packages, which saves time not having to repackage for the freezer when we get home. The thick - cut bacon is good, too. Their sales are good, but know your prices. I personally detest BOGO ads that do not have the regular price posted for comparison. They are often limited to 3 day weekend deals. They recently purchased the United stores and have one ad for both. The Valero gas station (buy American) is usually the cheapest or next, is located at the entrance off Buffalo Gap road. read more

I loved this store until today. I'm not a overreact or, but you would have thought this store did not know there was a virus that Abilene was dealing with. Kids bringing things to my car not distancing at all, employees inside and outside - no gloves and masks, even the checkout people. When nicely asking customer service, they said they had to order gloves and would be in on Friday. Really, where have y'all been while all the other stores were planning and caring about employees and customers. This store has a wide selection and a lot of gourmet or high end options in most categories. Prices are a bit higher so if you need a large bill of groceries on a tighter budget then United Supermarket would be a better option. Service was friendly and they carried our bags out for us. read more

Now that Albertsons bought out United and they're converting their store over to a system that marries both United processes and Albertsons process, I couldn't be happier. Talk about a collaboration of minds!! When I heard that Albertsons had bought out United, I thought great, now all the grocery stores in Abilene are going to be overpriced.... Not true!! Albertsons is taking advantage of United's distribution system which means that Albertsons will be getting better quality products and at decent prices... Albertsons does manage their stores very well; You have to hand it to them. Now with Albertsons management and United's style, we are really in for a treat. I look forward to the new changes to be rolled out within the next year! I have to agree with other posts that the store needs a serious update. It needs a makeover!! Hopefully with United on board this store will get the much needed love it deserves. The United stores are beautiful! They really put a lot of love and time into making those stores as comfortable and welcoming as they can.... Hopefully, Albertsons will get the same attention to detail... I recently had an issue with our insurance pharmacy benefits, and they let us take our prescription in good faith because he knew how badly my daughter needed it.
