Water Keg - JACKAROO, the best fresh juice drink in Abilene. Photo stolen from Google.

Water Keg

I keep forgetting to add photos of this place, but before I forget to write a review, here I am…read more Supposedly this place has pure water, I'm going to guess reverse osmosis and all that jazz. But the reason why I stop here 2 to 4 times a week during the summer, is they have a secret concoction that will not only cure you of any lack of vitamin C, and craving for a cold FRESH SQUEEZED CITRUS JUICE/DRINK which is a rare thing in Abilene. I'm sorry but a fruit smoothie, is NOT the same as fresh squeezed juice drink. If your hot, thirsty, and crave citrus, come here and ask for a LARGE JACKAROO. You read that right, JACK A ROO, its almost like lemonade, but it has something else besides lemon juice in it, whatever the hell is in a JACK A ROO, is the most refreshing and addicting summer time non alcoholic drink, that EVERYONE should try at least one time. I'm sure they have great non fluoridated water, and can make other drinks, but honestly, the JACKAROO is the only reason why you should stop reading this and go get one! You will not be disappointed. Stole the following from Google. INFORMAL*AUSTRALIAN noun noun: jackaroo a young man working on a sheep or cattle station to gain experience. verb verb: jackaroo work as a jackeroo. Also, the best damn juice drink in Abilene Texas.

"The Water Keg" (or what I've always called the "Purified Water Store" as per the sign above the…read moredoor) feels like the little sister of the Natural Food Center just down the street, even though it might have actually been here first. It's small and quaint with a shelf of natural or local foods (the local honey especially catches the eye), but a majority of what is sold is... water. Water containers and water. I know we're made of 70% water, but it seems a little odd to me to have a store that is too. It's apparently 9 times filtered and reverse osmoted, though, so if you're gooooing to go to a store to specifically buy water, I guess this is the place. The real gem, however, is their fresh squeezed juice, and this is the sole reason I come here. They freshly squeeze lemons, limes, and/or oranges into their pure water with just enough simple syrup to take the sour edge off. Order a "jackaroo" if you want all three juices. It's delicious and worth a stop by for a tasty, refreshing drink.

Circle H Meat Market & Mercantile

We heard great things about Circle H but what a disappointment! We purchased 2 top sirloin steaks (…read moretotal two pounds ) and they were very tough and had little taste. We ate less than half and threw the remainder away. We also bought some fajita beef so we're hoping it's better or at least good enough to eat all of it. We won't be returning.

Came across this place when I started to take my dog to the dog park across the street. Came here…read moreabout four times (every week since I saw it) now and every time I come, I usually have a really good experience and the quality of meat is always pretty good. I spend almost couple hundred dollars each time I go and this last time I bought a seasoning and when I got home to use it, it was unsealed and the seasoning was pretty hard so I assumed that maybe some moisture got into it. I went back to go see if I can exchange it for a new one and the blonde lady that was working there, not sure if she's the owner or whatever but stared at me as if I was just talking out of my ass, then walked over to the seasonings just to then talk to me like I was stupid and acted like I didn't know what i was talking about or I was lying about it being opened and then tried to convince me that all of the seasonings Are like that. She also said that the lid most likely tore the seal off itself, which that has never happened to me before but either way, the seasoning was hard, and there was no telling how long it had been open on the shelf. Some of them did stick closer to the top, but once you shook it, it all easily broke apart, the one I have is almost completely solid from top to bottom. EITHER WAY, I would've loved a seasoning that was completely sealed when I open it. Instead of just exchanging the $12 seasoning after spending almost $200 there just a couple days before, she gave me a really hard time about it and was super rude and basically told me none of the other seasonings were any better like a "too bad, so sad" attitude. I just said OK and she just walked right back to the front without saying another word to me. Her facial expressions and the way she quickly dismissed me was just so uninviting and disrespectful and me and my toddler just walked out. We won't be going back there. I'll find a new place to get our meat.
