Not even worth the one star honestly. Let me just say that I never leave bad reviews. If I have nothing good to say then I leave it be usually.
I have a massive list of problems and will surely not return to them to have my taxes done in the future.
Had a man named Benny "help" us. I use that term loosely.
First off his computer was sjowing an error and it would show on our screen as well. He asked if we knew what it was. (Should have walked out then) finally after no luck when he restarted the computer we moved to another office and tried again. Same error popped up so when we shrugged our shoulders he finally went to get help. Okay great.
Then finally got started. He repeatedly mispelled words I would spell out for him multiple times.
I kept having to tell him to go back and fix things.
Me and my s/o are not married but have a baby on the way and he has stepped in as a father for my 1 year old. We do have marriage plans. I say this because of the following that took place.
He kept putting me and our daughter in the dependents as "other". It was not saving for some reason. He told us my s/o could not claim head of household since we were not "unmarried"
Say what?!
Told us our amount and I walked out. I was frustrated at this mans stupidity. Wouldn't even trust this man to be my cashier at a grocery store by this point.
I went back and sat down. I wanted to try as married. So he went and got what I assume is his boss lady. She came in and gave us a spill. Told me "once you file as married you are common law married and you do not get the white dress, the flowers, the ring, none of that" I responded with "yes I know this, we have talked about that" she proceeded to tell me "we will not throw rice when you walk out, you will be married at this desk"
Okay? First off, you don't ever tell a lady that. Especially a pregnant woman. It didnt scare or upset me. It pissed me off.
Then another lady walked in and said to the guy preparing our taxes "you needed me?" Little late there ehh? Then looked at me and basically said "you sure you wanna do that", gave a disgusted look and winked at me on the way out.
Then the other woman that gave us the spill walked out and said "well congratulations on getting married" in a sarcastic tone. By now I am fuming, trying to hold my tongue and hand. Finally we get going again, agreed to file this way and started electronically signing. Only to have to repeatedly sign the same documents 4 (yes 4!) times because this guy didnt know what he was doing. The entire time he kept asking us questions as if we knew. Things he should have known being a tax preparer.
There were plenty of other things that went wrong and that we were very disappointed with.
Will never return to this H&R Block. read more
