Finally, a CPA firm that truly cares. We moved to Round Rock a few years ago and tried a couple of…read moredifferent accounting firms before finding Steadman Tax Services. Our financial advisor recommended them, and we could not be happier with the experience. Their team is professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly friendly. They have detailed processes that make everything organized and stress-free, and they always take the time to answer our questions. It's clear they genuinely care about their clients and providing excellent service. Highly recommend Steadman Tax Services to anyone looking for a trustworthy and dependable CPA firm.

Our experience with Steadman Tax Services was extremely disappointing…read more We dealt with poor communication, multiple handoffs on our account, inaccurate bookkeeping, and a defensive response when we tried to get answers. We were told monthly bookkeeping emails and financial summaries were being sent, but we did not receive them on our end, including in spam. Their explanation was that the emails showed as sent or delivered on their side, but that does not change the fact that we did not receive them on ours   There was also no consistency in who was handling our account. Within about a year of working with Steadman Tax Services, the bookkeepers assigned to us changed multiple times. We started with Sam, who left abruptly and shortly after we became clients. After that, we were moved to Alyssa, then Daniella, and later Keri this January, with no communication about those transitions. That constant turnover made the process frustrating and made it hard to feel like anyone had a full understanding of our books or the history of our account. The bookkeeping issues were even more concerning. Our 2025 P&L showed many American Express charges categorized as Thumbtack advertising, even though we did not use Thumbtack at all in 2025. That significantly distorted our marketing expenses. We also found other miscategorized expenses, including business subscriptions being placed under office supplies instead of a more appropriate category. We had also already provided information about a cargo van purchase, yet it still was not properly recorded as an asset months after the purchase. When we reviewed the QB audit history, we also found long gaps with little to no bookkeeping activity, including stretches of roughly 29 days, 81 days, 49 days, 35 days, and 27 days with only minimal or administrative changes. That matters because this was supposed to be an ongoing monthly bookkeeping services that we pay for.  The audit log did not reflect the kind of steady monthly review, cleanup, and follow-through we were paying for. Instead, it looked like work was being done in batches with long periods of inactivity in between, which helps explain why issues sat unresolved and why so many things were only caught much later. To make matters worse, we had repeatedly clarified that my wife does not work and has no separate income, but that continued to resurface as if it had never been communicated. That showed a lack of attention to detail and poor account management. What was most frustrating was how the firm responded once we raised these concerns. We were not rude or hostile. We brought up specific issues, pointed to documentation, and tried to get clarity on what had gone wrong and how it would be fixed. Instead of taking accountability and working toward a solution, the response felt defensive, dismissive, and focused on shifting blame back onto us. Rather than treating our concerns as legitimate, it felt like we were being talked around and told, in effect, that the problems were ours for not catching them sooner. Then, after we followed up in writing to document those concerns and ask for a resolution, they chose to disengage immediately instead of addressing the issues professionally. That made the entire experience feel even more disappointing and unprofessional. We were not asking for anything unreasonable. We wanted accurate books, clear communication, consistency, and accountability. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this firm.

Believe the bad reviews…read more We worked with them for a few years and each year the problems with our returns got worse and worse. They make mistakes then charge YOU to fix them. Avoid this team at all costs or pay for it later.

I then called back and did get a return call and an appointment was set up. We spoke with Mr. Ray and stated that we were looking for a CPA to complete our tax return as we had some new items that we were unsure how to handle. We discussed all the information needed and we emailed all the information to him. We then get a call stating he didn't get the information. I told him we had gotten a confirmation and he then realized he did have it. I then get another phone call asking for a form that we missed sending and I explained we had no type form. They realized then that the form was needed for another return and not our return as they had all they needed for our return. I was given a quote at the first meeting in March. Then we get an email stating they would try to get it done by April 15th but would probably need to file an extension. Followed by an email that an extension would have to be filed. We had several questions about this and was told it would cost another $120-$180. We were actually charged $300 more when completed and there was nothing extra added and it appears when original quote was given they knew an extension was going to be filed. The return was completed the middle of March but was told it had to go through a recheck process before final release. On July 10th we received the return stating it was ready to be sent to the IRS and we signed all the forms. On the return we were to receive a refund, now imagine our surprise when we just received a letter from the IRS stating the return was incorrect and we now owe over $2000. I contacted Mr. Ray and a phone meeting was set up. Mr. Ray acknowledged that they had made a mistake and the IRS was correct in the return. Mr. Ray stated that they failed to check a box to count the Social Security and that was the error. He continued to apologize but felt their only responsibility to "make us whole" was to refund the amount of interest the IRS was charging. It was the manner in how their error was handled. When I expressed that I had paid over $1000 for them to complete our return and that I trusted our return to be completed correctly and professionally, he stated we signed the engagement letter and also that we signed that the return was correct and that we should have reviewed it for accuracy. If I know exactly how the info should be then why did I hire a CPA? I hired them because this is their job and they are supposed to know how to file this. Many, many individuals receive Social Security and they need to process these returns correctly or take responsibility which isn't just I'm sorry.
