I needed an escort so that I can have a medical procedure done at Medstar surgery center. The surgery center had a couple of approved companies and I chose this one. You can't be flexible with the time. I was finished about 3 hours before my pick up time. The center tried to get them to come earlier but the earliest was 2 hours after finishing. I cannot attest to the quality of the transport services provided by this company. H&M is now Arise transport, same address listed with the Chamber of Commerce. It should be noted for potential users of this service that the transport company parks its vans overnight and for several days in residential neighborhoods. Their drivers leave medical and food waste on the ground near their vans. We have seen drivers relieve themselves in the grass. Neighborhood groups have asked for a company response but have not received anything. There is a commercial parking nearby with restroom facilities. read more

I booked a ride for my father to go to the doctor using the app. Got an automated confirmation call back, but they were a no-show for our ride. I could understand if it was a mistake, but when I called to sort it out I was hung up on twice. The only excuse I got for the missed ride was that appointments booked online aren't held unless you call to confirm. Totally unreliable company--look elsewhere. We had to utilize them to transport our dad to a doctor appointment. They arrived a little early to make sure we arrived on time due to traffic on this given day. I was in the process of having my dad use the restroom before leaving and they assisted me with getting him to the bedside toilet. J Rene and Christian were the best. They handled our dad with proper care transferring him over to the stretcher and moving him out the house. I highly recommend using H&M Transport J Rene and his team are a blessing. This occurred at the Richmond VAMC 11/2/23 Very unprofessional, condescending, extremely rude/ghetto like entitled attitude with no customer service skills apparent, was what I experienced from two Richmond VA "dispatchers" Andrea Green and LaShara and one driver, a Ms. Ann or Joann, who took a seat behind the desk and blatantly affirmed that they were retaliating against me for "refusing" a ride .To be clear, it is a false assertion made to justify their unprofessional and again rude/ghetto like behavior. I stated clearly that I would wait for the next available driver. That's when Ms. Andrea told me, i was exiting the van, and I quote, "Let me talk to You. I'm Tryin' To Help YOU Out."Her belligerent tone stopped me in my tracks, as i felt i was being threatened. I verbally responded, "No, that's okay. I'll just wait for the next driver." She then stated that in a warning tone, I'd hate to see you have to wait another two hours to get home." I looked at her and said, " Well, it shouldn't take another two hours, right?" By that time, I had reached the desk and told Ms. Lashara, I was going to charge my phone at the charging station.My previous engagements with this company had been positive. The dispatcher at that time was a Mr. Miles. (Shout out to Mr. Miles! Please get well soon.) Mr. Miles always put veterans first and worked tirelessly to coordinate the various destinations so it would make sense logistically. That is a talent sorely missed now. I'm hoping that the owner/higher ups will investigate this incident starting with my assigned afternoon driver as well as veterans in the vestibule as necessary to corroborate the facts. Also, the back and forth of unauthorized persons at any time that seat themselves arbitrarily behind the dispatch desk, as well as the dispatchers leaving the desk unattended for periods of time. My experience yesterday was that veterans are considered chattel/packages at best. To be seen and not heard seems to be the motto with no empathy for the veterans' needs. Being lectured that the veteran is secondary to the drivers' whims and location desires of the drivers' prerogatives. Being told by a driver that the wait was for retaliation. (proven by the fact that one of the last veterans to be transported was going to Mechanicsville, and they did not add me to the vehicle even though Mechanicsville was 20/30 minutes from my destination).It took a total of 7+ waiting hours to get home after these individuals retaliated for me refusing (their words) to keep adding more people to the van I had been placed on, hindering it before it could pull off...actuallyTSpoke with several agents at H&M telephonically. They promised to call the VA dispatchers. However, nothing changed. I was relegated to wait approximately 3.5 more hours.Spoke with Mr. John (supervisor?) and Ms. Nicole (supervisor?) and Mr. John stated he was going to Hopewell and that if I was still here, he would find someone.Ms. Nicole is sending back the original driver and stated they would be here shortly. Relayed by Ms. Lashara. Additionally, Mr. John said he would speak with the driver and individuals who admitted to retaliation. Hopefully, he will follow up and reprimand these individuals, proffer better training, and reinforce that this is a needed duly authorized service. It is not a privilege to be bartered for with no regard for the veteran. The majority of us veterans needing transport are physically/mentally disabled in one form or another. One other notable mention. The VA police were also involved due to another female veteran who had been transported at around 2 pm, and needed to return to Newport News. Another one escorted Ms. Lashara to her vehicle. A statement by the policeman was that leaving veterans stranded after the 6 pm locking of the doors was occurring far too frequently. Thank goodness between my driver, Ms. Beverly, the VA Police, Mr. John and Ms. Megan (telephonically) they were able to arrange her transport. I sincerely hope she made it. read more

Care was fair, people seemed unsure of where to go, had to follow me home and up the elevator to bring my husband home from Inova Loudoun Hospital. After taking a credit card number for the transport, then I received a bill for $185 more than the quote I was given. On top of that, I could find no way to pay electronically, and No return envelope in with the bill. Could they do anything more wrong? Denied service request. Extremely disappointed with H&M services... denied transport services even though they have provided the same service 4-times in the last 12-months for a 120lbs elderly bed-bound patient. The first H&M service was via wheelchair, and the last 3-services were via stretcher. Each time their team performed arrived on time and performed admirably. Their team maneuvered the wheelchair and stretcher in the TH stairwell without issues: 3 "flights" of 7-step stairs, with the first 2 flights reaching a landing before the next flight. However, our recent request for service was denied! When asked if they would at least provide wheelchair transport services, they denied and stated a wheelchair is TOO HEAVY to move the patient with. I informed them they have used OUR wheelchair to transport in the past without any issues - our collapsable wheelchair maybe 10-15 lbs. Disappointment with H&M is putting it mildly. read more

Used them for my cataract surgeries. After the right eye surgery, they were 15 minutes late picking me up. After the left eye surgery, the nurse called and was told they were going to be 20 minutes late. After they didn't show in 30 minutes, the nurse called again and was told it would be another 20 minutes. In total, they were ONE HOUR late picking me up. He called from downstairs and didn't come up to walk me down after my medical procedure. The truth is they took my money and then lost my paperwork. They would have sent no one if the nurse hadn't called. Now they had to scramble and find someone to pick me up. When they finally found someone they had to drive to 30 minutes to pick me up. Never going to use this service again -- you shouldn't either. read more

We had a short notice requirement for litter transport. I called four companies from among those recommended by the Rehab facility. H&M's office staff was friendly and worked with us to get a driver & vehicle to our neighborhood--so it wouldn't be so far the next day. This enabled them to beat the "next best" estimate by $300. The crew showed up on time--with all the proper safety equipment. Louis and Jimmy were experienced, polite, and proficient. They handled Mom's transport with exceptional care. Dad(Dr. Sivaramalingam Manickavasagar, M.D. F.R.C.S.), Mom (Dr. Marie Lucas-Manickavasagar, M.D. D.C.H.), and I (Ravi Manickavasagar - Dad's Caregiver) have used H&M Medical Transport Services since August 2019 for round-trips (approximately 15-20 trips) to Bull Run Family Medicine, Carient Heart and Vascular, Gainesville Eye Associates, Bank of America, CVS Pharmacy, Chestnut Forks Tennis and Fitness Club, U.S. Postal Office, DMV, Novant UVA Haymarket Emergency Room, Famous American Barber Shop. Usually I reserve appointments on the phone but I have also begun using the online forms to make reservations. Dad is transported by wheelchair(with leg rests); for some of the trips, we used our own wheelchair, while we used the H&M Transport company's wheelchair in other trips. Most recently, on August 25, 2022 ($257 round-trip), we went to Bank of America to deposit two checks, CVS Pharmacy(4th COVID-19 Pfizer shot, 2nd booster, pickup prescription for Freestyle/Abbott blood glucose monitoring system test strips), and Famous American Barber Shop(haircuts for Dad and me). On September 13, 2022 ($243), Dad, Mom, and I went to U.S. Postal Office(renewal of Mom's passport) and CVS Pharmacy(flu vaccine - two seniors and one adult). On the last two trips we requested Wendy who usually arrives on time and sometimes takes Mom on separate trips. Typically on these trips, Dad walks downstairs to first floor in our home, down a few steps in the garage, and into the driveway where he takes a seat in the wheelchair and enters the H&M Vehicle. Dad and I are in the backseat, while Wendy(H&M driver/employee) is in the front seat of the H&M vehicle with Mom. I request the cell phone numbers from the drivers so that I can keep them informed when we are finished with our appointments. We request that the driver remains in the parking lot vicinity and not to leave us even for a brief time. Wendy helped Dad to walk downstairs in our home, down a few steps in the garage, and enter the wheelchair, and to get in and out of the wheelchair to stand, walk, or get into the barbershop chair. I typically include 15-20% tip for the driver on each trip. On our earlier trips since 2019, two drivers would lift Dad in the wheelchair up and down the stairs and front porch steps, and I would add 20% tip. More recently, Dad walks downstairs without wheelchair, down front porch steps or garage steps, then I give 15% tip. On Monday, September 26, 2022, we have requested Wendy to take us to Bull Run Family Medicine(annual wellness exam for Dad and Mom, pneumonia vaccine for Dad) and then to Famous American Barber Shop for haircuts for Dad and me. Wendy(H&M employee) took a photo of Dad, Mom, and me, with Steve (Barber) at the Famous American Barber Shop in Stonewall Shops(Gainesville, VA) where Dad and I had haircuts since 2011. Wendy and the rest of the H&M employees were helpful to Dad when he gets into wheelchair, transferring Dad into vehicle, while Dad is walking, getting to appointments on time and early, providing business cards with the company's phone number, and are polite and professional. Needed a last minute transport for dialysis and was going to book through the website which was extremely easy to do, but CXL'd it and called because needed it the next day and it was already after 5pm. The phone system was slightly tricky but you have to listen for the option you need. Mine was wheelchair, so spoke with a wonderful person who clearly understood my ask, what I wanted and needed. They arrived 15 minutes before waited and helped me out to the van and took me to my appointment and arrived 10 minutes early PERFECT!!! Then pick up was the same way. They assisted my family helping me inside with my wheelchair, bags, and all! This was flawless and will use them again in the future. Payment was done by phone and my family received text alerts to know my status. Again nice touch so they didn't have to worry about whether I got there or when I would be back home. For the last minute wheelchair transport the cost I felt was high but it was VERY last minute. Booked at 6pm on Monday and needed it for 11:30am Tuesday for round trip there and back was $98 the distance is 10.2 round trip so like 5 miles each way. However again last minute booking was able accommodate and customer service and process was excellent. Covid mask on and items for cleaning, bravo and appreciate that. I am a Kaiser Permanente patient in upper Montgomery County. I scheduled a medical procedure that was to occur in their Largo Medical Facility. The ride was scheduled to arrive at 11:56 am, in order for me to arrive in Largo at 1:00 pm. I was called by their dispatch to inform me that the driver was running 10 minutes late. At 12:06 pm I call dispatch and asked where the driver was. I was told he would arrive in 10 minutes. He actually showed up at 12:27 pm. Since I wasn't sure that my procedure would take place due to my late arrival, I cancelled the ride. I didn't want to travel to Largo late and be told that I would need to reschedule my appointment. Not only would I have to experience the frustration of have to reschedule my appointment, I'd also have to wait on H&M to provide me a ride home, which would likely be during the afternoon rush hour. I had to do some preparations over the weekend for my medical procedure, and it was all for naught because H&M's driver was 30 minutes late in arriving. I have called Kaiser's customer service and registered a complaint with them, and suggested the employ a different ride service for its patients. I highly recommend H&M Transport for pickup services. The company provides excellent service and has courteous and professional drivers. The booking process was also extremely efficient. The driver arrived on time and delivered me to my appointment well in advance of the scheduled arrival time. The driver also picked me up on time when called for the return trip and made sure that I was well accommodated and had everything I needed for a comfortable trip home. My family members have used other transport services in a different state in the past. I can honestly attest that H&M outranks these other companies in terms of the level of service provided as well as the care and attention they offer to people they pick up. While the drivers and staff are friendly, they consistently arrive late to take you to appointments. As a result my wheelchair bound brother has had to miss urgently needed PT appointments. If I could give negative stars I would. My mother has been having medical issues for a while and has needed their service to get to and from DR appointments for the last couple of months. The first couple of times were great. However, this morning they canceled my mom's pick up and appointment without reaching out. When contacted they claimed they tried calling, but when we review our phone records there are no incoming phone calls at the time they claim they called. Jacob was very rude insisting that I had no idea what I was talking about. Told me that he would hang up on me if I kept saying I had no record of a phone call. When asked why they did not leave a message all I was told was that they tried calling. They even told my mom the driver that was going to pick her up, left to pick up a better paying long time customer instead and it would have been late anyway. First time using this service today. Pickup process was smooth and easy. I called for pickup about 30 minutes before the appointment was done to give the driver time to get here and minimize the wait time. Since my phone number is now logged in their customer database, I was given the option to speak to anyone. The automated prompts gave me the option to select that I was ready for pickup. I did that and trusted the process to be reliable. Big mistake. My gut wouldn't let me settle with the automated prompt so after waiting about 40 minutes, I decided to call again. This time I made sure I pressed the schedule a ride prompt and got an actual person (companies always answer the phone to get your $). The service rep said the automated system didn't notify I was ready. So, bottom line, I sat for over two hours waiting to be picked up. I don't recommend this business to anyone. My aging parent had just finished a procedure and needed to be home as soon as possible. The lengthy wait should and could have been avoided completely. read more

Do not recommend this company as they provide provide bad service, are always extremely late and will rip you off. First day the driver was 45 Minutes late and HM charged $85 to drive only 8 miles round trip. The second time we used the service, the driver came and the wheelchair they had was broken. I waited 45 minutes for another driver to bring a working wheelchair for my disabled mom. The driver ended up leaving without telling me. I called the Company to file a complaint and they said they told the driver to leave! I paid a premium for the service to be here on time and 45-55 minutes late is unacceptable two days in a row. The customer service is awful. They do not make you aware they do not furnish blankets or help the patient on the gurney. The driver Rick brought a high school student as a helper which they did not assist the patient in anyway. We also were not told they weren't an ambulatory transport company. When calling to make a complaint and was told the owner would contact me. I have not received any return calls. I have spoken with Daniel and a very rude supervisor Kirsten who seems to have amnesia and cannot ever remember taken a phone call.
