We had an GREAT experience with MTS Transportation during a challenging situation. A family member recently underwent a medical procedure that required a designated person to pick them up. Unfortunately, a major snowstorm hit that day, and it was difficult to find someone available given the road conditions. Thankfully, MTS Transportation stepped in when we needed them most. Our driver, Natinael, was outstanding--professional, courteous, and genuinely kind. He ensured a safe and smooth ride home despite the harsh weather and made the trip stress-free. I had no idea a service like this existed! Most assume only family can pick up a patient since rideshares like Uber aren't allowed. It's a huge relief knowing MTS is an option, so you don't have to ask someone to leave work just to provide transportation. Highly recommend MTS for their reliable and caring service. They have kept us waiting over one hour waiting for a pickup. This is over the one hour estimate. And then when I called they told me another 1/2 hour. Completely unacceptable when you are with a senior citizen who is in a wheelchair and unable to use one without an aide. They have lost me as a customer. They were also $100 more than another service that picked us up within 10 mins of our request for pickup. read more

I contacted MTS Transportation to arrange medical transport with a wheelchair for my husband's discharge from Virginia Hospital after knee replacement surgery on December 12, 2025. Everyone at the office was very courteous, informative, and professional, answering all my questions as a first time user of medical transportation. I found it easy to arrange the pick-up, which was instantly confirmed via email. They were also flexible given that the discharge time was only an estimate and worked with the hospital staff for a prompt pick-up when it was a bit later than expected. The medical transport team was very kind and took great care to insure my husband's comfort on the trip to our home. They also knew all the short cuts to avoid rush hour traffic. I used MTS for a non-emergency transportation trip on May 30, 2025. The young lady I spoke to on the phone (Dirrie) was very helpful and professional and getting me the assistance I needed. My mom had been transferred to a rehab the night before. Once my sister and I got there, the place was inhabitable, and we wanted to move her right away. I called MTS and they were at the facility within 2 hours! The driver and the attendant were courteous and professional; they went above and beyond to make sure that my mom was comfortable. They had both the stretcher and the chair to get her up the outside steps and into her bedroom with no issues. They ensured she was placed comfortably in her bed before leaving. MTS has been a lifesaver for me for several years, taking me to and from medical appointments all around the DC area and NoVA. They've been very reliable and on time, with a friendly staff and top quality care. The drivers and dispatchers communicate very clearly to set up and carry out the transport. I have a big weight problem and need wheelchair transport service, and each crew has been helpful and able to get me from place to place safely and on time. Do not use this company if your loved one requires a stretcher transport in there are stairs to get in your home. Despite requesting a stretcher transport for my 90 yr old father with contractures that limits his mobility , they arrive expecting my father to be able to get into a wheelchair. When scheduling, I informed them that there are 3 steps to the front door and six to get upstairs and that my father cannot be transported my wheelchair, they asked. The transporter put his supervisor on the phone while trying to figure if a transport was possible. The supervisor stated it wasn't safe for my father to be transported by stretcher because that would require 3 people and he only sent 2. My question was why didn't you send 3, no answer. I have used 3 other medical transport companies who came prepared and skilled and had no problems using a stretcher with stairs. I don't believe these transporter had much experience. My father had to reschedule his surgery because of this inept and extremely inconsiderate company. read more

I used MTS for non-emergency transportation from a colonoscopy. The two staff members to whom i spoke on the phone were professional and very kind. The driver and attendant were prompt, kind and competent and the vehicle was comfortable. Everything about the experience was excellent. Cost seemed reasonable, although since the alternative provider did not answer my e-mails or return my phone calls, I have no basis for comparison. read more

Updated: Was told it's standard that it's 30 minute to an hour before they pick you up. My doctors office said this is an ongoing issue. My main problem was I was done at 8:45 am and I was fine waiting for 15 minutes til 9 am but because the service was late I had to move and sit in another room to await the driver. I informed the service weeks ago I needed a 9 am pickup, told the driver this morning who had a different time and then had to call the service to figure out why they told my doctors office it be another 30 minutes before they would arrive. FYI my doctors office called them at 8:30, 8:45 and 9 am. They didn't arrive til 9:15 am and I didn't get home til almost 10. Just a long day. read more

Cons first: Their billing process is awful. However, that works in your favor. It takes them a while to get back to you about payments, so the money is earning interest in your account. Pro: They are very flexible, from the setup of the transportation at the last minute to the drivers waiting for you. We had to take a patient from Clinton to Walter Reed (Bethesda, MD) who needed a stretcher. Not only did the gentlemen move a very fragile person from a bed to stretcher gently, but they also stayed with us when we got to WR because it would have been too painful to move her from the stretcher to a gurney. Mr. Morgan helped the X-ray specialists get her situated while I chased down another issue across the clinic. I cannot say enough about ELMORE MORGAN - what a gracious, kind, and considerate person! He was so gracious to our family member that when she saw him on her second ride, she visibly relaxed! He is awesome (everyone else was great also). read more

I called for transportation for my elderly mom and he cut me off & said we dont have any availability ... i began to ask when is the next time they will he yelled and talked over me saying he don't . I then asked can he please stop talking over me and being rude and he then said this is rude .... he slam the phone down ... I REPEAT....DO NOT USE MTS.... UPDATE: I will be reporting this horrific company to the better business bureau. I called to speak to a manager who I thought was professional she put the same RUDE & NASTY MAN on the phone. Here's the dope: they know they've got a captive audience because lots of doctors require "medical transportation" for their patients; they won't just let you get in a cab after some medical procedures, even if you're pretty much ambulatory. (The doctors are worried about liability, that you'll sue them if you don't get home safely, or if the taxi driver robs or ravages you while you're in a semi-stupor, etc.) So.....you're stuck with a service like this, and, IMO, these services know they've got you where they want you: in a corner. And they proceed to ream the hell out of you. Try as an alternative to pay an acquaintance to collect you from your doctor's office visit. Or see if you can get a ride by calling in a favor from some friend who owes you one. If you need transportation round trip, go to the doctor's office by cab or train or by foot, so you only get gouged for the transportation taking you home after your doctor's office visit. Worst case scenario, get a hotel or motel room near the doctor's office, and arrange for a staff employee to walk you to the room after your medical procedure. Considering what many of these transportation "services" are charging, an overnight room can be a cheaper option. In the old days, neighbors helped neighbors. "It takes a village," and all that malarkey. Well, folks, the village ain't there no more. It burned, and it's every man for himself. With a little planning and strategizing, you'll still be okay. Just get your plans in order earlier rather than later, and remember the value of self reliance. And march onward and upward. read more

Just go with another service. MTS might only charge you half price after being an hour and a half late, but is that worth it? These medical transport services should be a cut above. I'd have taken an Uber if the medical facility would have allowed it. Addendum: MTS staff called to apologize for their poor service. I made suggestions about how they could at least contact the customer in case of problems. I also suggested that they be honest and not just say "they'll arrive in 15-20 minutes" every half hour for 90 minutes. There was no "we'll consider those good suggestions", so I expect that they went into the void. The caller said that the charges would be refunded. Nothing showed up after a few days so I emailed MTS to test their sincerity and I received notice of a pending refund. You have choices. Choose a reputable provider instead. read more

I called several days ahead to book a sedan ride home from surgery. My doctor preferred I have a person I knew or a professional bring me home rather than a Lyft. I was promised a sedan (with a wheelchair) that would pick me up at the surgery center and deliver me from the car to my apartment. The assigned time was 12:00 noon. Noon passed so the nurse called and was told they would get there in an hour or so, not the 12 I expected them. Imagine my surprise when they started calling from downstairs asking for the staff to bring me down--and to discover a van, not a sedan. I was put in the front passenger seat because the rest of the van was full of junk. I was then taken a long route up B-W Parkway (one of the bumpiest roads around) instead of the beltway which was right at National Harbor. The bumpy, uncomfortable ride took an hour. I had to walk to my apartment because they expected my apartment complex to have a wheelchair! When I called to complain about getting a bumpy uncomfortable van instead of a nice sedan the "rude, disrespectful" man mentioned in other reviews offered me $25 off. I told him with all that went wrong he should not charge. When I said I would give a bad review he reneged on the discount. Cheap but not worth the price. read more

My dad received stretcher service from this company three times a week for dialysis. He was also on oxygen 24/7. They are very professional. My dad was bed ridden and the staff always treated him well. My dad was very difficult to lift to the stretcher for medical reasons and MTS handled him with care. They were kind, caring and very responsible and even picked up my dad on time. Most of the time they arrived early. The staff at the main office Naty and Veronica are very helpful with paper work and following up with Medicare requirements when needed. MTS communicates with family members often and had to transport my dad to the emergency room. He wasn't feeling well. The drivers stayed with my dad until we arrived. If you have any questions the staff is very helpful answering them. We used other companies in the area before we found MTS. I just wish we found them sooner. read more

MTS provided the service of a lifetime over two days for my 99 year old mother!!!! My mother lives in Pennsylvania, and I wanted to arrange for her to see her beloved city of Washington, DC where she was born and lived for the first thirty years of her life. However, she is wheelchair bound (with two aides in attendance), so I wanted her to be comfortable for her "homecoming." I also had a special itinerary of places that I knew were important for her to see because they had special meaning to her life, and I knew that frequent stops and/or slow "drive-by" driving would be the order of the day. I knew that this would probably be the last time my mother would ever visit Washington, so I wanted everything to be perfect for her. I explained what I needed when I called MTS. I live in Boston and had not heard of them before, so I just went on line and started to make calls. To make a looooong story short, I have nothing but pure gratitude to express for the beyond outstanding service that was provided for my mother and her aides! The van was clean and comfortable, and the driver was just fabulous -- on-time, nice, courteous, patient, helpful, and very knowledgeable about the city -- just everything you would want in a driver!!!!! Both days worked out like a charm, and my mother was so happy and content. Just what I had wanted. So, all I can say is that the MTS service that I contracted for September 11 and 12, 2018, was SUPERB. Last year I used JNA wheelchair transport company but they have since gone out of business... Royal bummer because they did a great job and only charged $85 for one-way transport. I hired MTS to transport me one-way from the hospital to my Mom's house after surgery. The guys from MTS seemed to be in a hurry which stressed me out a little bit. Okay, a lot. They got me down and loaded into the van no problem. Since there were steps into my Mom's place, two men had to physically lift me up, step by step, in that wheelchair. Scared the bejeezus out of me but they did it. I was so doped up on pain meds so that was probably a good thing! Nice guys. I think if they would have slowed down a bit I would not have been so worried. Total cost was $250 (because of needing an extra guy and going up steps) but in hindsight, a good method for getting home from the hospital. read more

I used MTS twice in the past year (from Virginia Hospital to locations in Fairfax and Arlington) and had no problems at all. Hospital staff were used to dealing with MTS and seemed to think highly of them. $48 for four miles - considering that the hospital couldn't tell them exactly when I'd be ready to go, hence waiting time, I don't think the amount was excessive. I cannot recommend MTS. The only reason I used a service was because my doctor made me for the procedure I was having. The original company was a small company and had a driver illness. So they had to cancel and I had to use another service. I was stuck with MTS. The nurse called for my pick up and was told it would be about 15 to 20 minutes. After 45 minutes, she called a second time and was again told about 15 minutes. After another 30 minutes my ride finally arrived. When he drove me he did not seem to know where he was going and asked me if he was going the right way. He also took a call from someone at the company during my ride which to me is unsafe. He did not make sure I got into the house safely or assist me in any manner. I would have been better off with a Lyft or Uber but the doctors office doesn't permit it because these medical services are supposed to provide an extra measure of safety. MTS certainly provided me with nothing but frustration, a cost of $40+ more than a Lyft and a long wait when I could have been at home resting after my procedure. read more
