Located in the Arroios Market this quaint spot was a full house! The very gracious husband and wife hosts were eager to describe and recommend the wonders that they prepare here. We felt a strong urge to become friends with them, rather than just tourists dropping by for a quick bite. We enjoyed the personalized touches. The owner told us that all the goat cheese used in their menu items come from the highest mountains in Portugal. With all the great options available to us it was tough to pick. Revolto de Ovos Farinheira left you craving for more. You can't go wrong with any item on their simple yet tasty menu. Thankfully the wife who was also the chef was happy to offer suggestions which we ultimately devoured within minutes.

Small restaurant owned by a lovely couple who provided excellent service. I say excellent because that's the best service we have received in Lisbon compared to other places. However, we weren't a fan of the food. I think it was a bit let down given all the raving reviews. We tried two items and they both lacked a bit of flavor. Basic toast, cheese, and choice of toppings. We found the food to be bland (beef) and salty (mushroom).

Sonia, who learned to cook from her grandmothers, and Pedro serve an amazing spread of simple home cooking. We had the shrimp cooked in a broth of olive oil and garlic and served with croutons. Then mushrooms served with toast. Then Blood sausage served on toast with homemade tomato sauce. All delicious.

What a wonderful family-run restaurants. Simple food, but SO delicious. I haven't stopped talking about the Portuguese sausages and cured meat-- truly like no other! We can't get meats like that in the U.S.. The taste is unique, unlike any Italian sausage or cured meat. This small restaurant is run by husband and wife. The wife does all the cooking, and the husband explains the menu and recommends. We each got a meal, clams, and a bottle of good wine, and the total came to less than $30 euro! Incredibly cheap and so tasty. We loved this place, despite it being off the beaten path and a bit outside of the center. Highly recommend, but make sure you make a reservation! Cash only.

Traditional locally sourced food, fair prices on food and drinks, extremely accommodating owner who will explain the menu to you in detail. Overall great dining experience, the opposite of a tourist trap, highly recommend.

This place is perfect for a nice brunch in the sun, beautiful selection of cheese and meat for the perfect tapas with a wonderful selection of wine to pair with your meal! Would highly recommend, the hospitality is also unforgettable! Everyone was so nice!

Amazing food. Mushrooms and carrot soup were absolutely divine. Service was a 10/10, could not recommend higher.

Having experienced fado outside of Portugal I didn't feel strongly that it was a must-do, but when I found myself at night on the street that is known for fado I prioritized it. For the best fado experience I recommend an intimate space, hopefully crowded with people but also with a view to the performers. Tasca do Chico is exactly that place. The doorman told us that space was standing room only, at the (tiny) bar. From there we could see and hear the performers while ordering food and drink. We'd not been there long before we were offered an available seat at a table which caused us to order more food and drink and stay a little longer. The fado here is quite good, made even more enjoyable as the artists change quite frequently; a song or two and a new artist steps forward, all very talented and enjoyable to watch and hear. The fado places tend to have lines out the door and a doorman managing entry. A place across the street looked much bigger but the intimacy is, in my opinion, what makes the experience both unique and special. Even if you have to start at the bar, Tasca do Chico is a great place to experience fado.

On the bright side, I met some new friends in line, and honestly, it was worth it even though I hoped the wait was shorter. The drinks and performances were incredible and exceeded my expectations. It's a small place so the performances felt very intimate, what a memorable night! Just a heads up: they only take cash, so don't make the same mistake I did. Cheers!

After seeing the photos and menu my husband and I came here for lunch on our last day in Lisbon. This cute little tapas restaurant was located only 8 minute walk from our hotel. We ordered swordfish ceviche, tuna tartare, cheese board and seared foie gras on a toast. Our server explained the details of each dish that sounded so delicious. And every dish tasted great, especially we didn't expect to have such delicious foie gras in Lisbon. It's one of our favorite dishes but unfortunately we can't get it in California. We started eating swordfish ceviche and tuna tartare before taking photos. They also had Monkey 47 gin which is my husband's favorite gin. My sangria tasted perfect for me. Excellent service. We were glad that we had a chance to dine here before heading home.

The entrance is roped out - when you try to get in, one of the staff members comes out to explain the 'rule'...basically two food items per person is required (requested), so you cannot come here just for beverages. There were lots of yummy tapas dishes described on the blackboard, but I definitely enjoyed my selection - well, thanks to the helpful staff to make my decision. Both seared tuna and boiled shrimp were excellent, and perfect afternoon snack for me!

Watching the chefs in their element preparing the dishes was so cool; for such a tight space, they were a well-oiled machine. Here were my favorites: 1. The tomato soup with egg. So, so simple, with only two main ingredients, but perfectly executed. I'll need to try making this at home with the immersion blender. 2. Pan con tomato with jamón ibérico. I'm sitting here writing this review and crying a little on the inside that we in the States don't have such easy access to quality ingredients to make such a stand-out dish. Grilled bread, tomato spread, and the best jamón I've ever tasted. This was an order we added at the very end and I'm glad we did. 3. The sweet rice pudding with cinnamon ice cream and toasted rice krispies on top. I was almost too full to function by this point but still made room to demolish this dessert. We also got the grouper stew, which was pretty good, but at that point, I had basically gotten the same dish multiple times and this one didn't particularly stand out. Definitely make reservations! There are two seats on the street but I personally wouldn't want to sit there as there's a ton of foot traffic in the area (plus the cars drive pretty close too so you're also breathing in fumes and exhaust). A perfect dinner in Lisbon: oysters at Rosamar one street over and then some tapas and drinks at Tapisco.

The tapas are innovative, flavorful but true to both Spanish and Portuguese cuisine. Our favorites tonight were the tuna tartare, mussels, roasted pork with purred eggplant and veggies. The sauce on the mussels was excellent and we enjoyed it on the simple bread. Nice wine list. Impeccable spice profile and friendly responsive staff.

This was our first stop on a food tour in downtown Lisbon. We started with a small beer. Our tour guide ordered everything and she said the sausage is paired well with the cheese and indeed was really good! The bifana sandwich is pork but called bifana because of the cut of meat. It looks plain but when it's fresh on soft bread goes well with honey mustard and Peri peri sauce for spice. We were staying close by and came back to order sandwiches but came during a time the workers were taking a break and eating. I later came back and the bifana alone for take out was super cheap. We wish we could have gotten it every day. There's little seating inside and there's typical outdoor dining where you can people watch while enjoying your refreshing beer and feeling the breeze and seeing the blue skies. I would recommend this place if you're in the area just for a quick snack!
