Found this new gem after a neighbor recommended it. So glad we gave it a try! Chicago Gyros+ offers a nice, clean, new-looking interior in an older strip mall in Hermitage. The owners were lovely and kind and made our food fresh after we ordered it. The gyro meat was really excellent and the chicken salad (greek salad with seasoned, sautéed chicken breast) was delicious. The greek vinaigrette and the tzatziki were both on point. Dolmas and baklava were so tasty, too! You can order everything just the way you like it with many fresh toppings to choose from. They also serve wings, sandwiches and other goodies. I'll admit it: as I go farther and farther south on Murfreesboro, I have less and less idea of where I am. Are there neighborhood names down this way or are there just subdivisions? Am I in Nashville? Antioch? Unincorporated Davidson County? I have no idea. Seriously. Someone (read: me) needs to figure this out because I24 migration doesn't appear to be shutting down anytime soon. My need to define things aside, I enjoyed my trip down here. I get stuck in the same parts of town so it was nice to experience a new-to-me section. I hadn't been this far down Murfreesboro (with a destination in mind) for years. While the drumbeat of new construction isn't as loud out here, it's still evident and more people are beginning to fill in the empty spaces. That's where we find Gyro Plus. It's smack dab in the middle of a strip mall that's seen better days. If other parts of the metro are any indication, it won't be empty for long. But, for now, you come here with a purpose. Mine was to get a mixed grill. The store is bright and a one-man operation. The owner was my cook and cashier (gloves were used and thrown away at all the appropriate times). There's a small dine-in section (with a few teas a bubblin' for drinkin') but during my time there, folks came in and out for take-out. Like I mention above, I was in search of a mixed grill plate to go. I couldn't get the pita but everything else was on the menu: yellow rice, grilled chicken (white meat and grilled/cut in front of me), gyro meat, two types of salad (cucumber and spicy), and a very healthy portion of handmade, fresh tzatziki sauce. I paid my money (I think $7-something) and I had to make a muscle to carry my bag o' food. You get your money's worth here. Once I came home and plated my food, I was pleased to note that in addition to value, you get quality. The fragrance of the food filled my house. The chicken was white meat, tender and seasoned (you know how difficult of a grouping that is). There was a metric ton of gyro meat and the rice was absolutely delicious. I added the salad for texture and mixed in the sauce. I had to take breaks in eating this thing and I have a budding octomom belly.* I wouldn't have found this place but for Yelp. I have closer Greek options but Gyro Plus is one worth traveling for. From what I saw, though, they do a brisk takeout/delivery business so get in where you fit in. *Winter's coming. read more

It doesn't look like much when you drive by but boy was I proven wrong!!! I was craving Greek food & this restaurant definitely hit the spot. I ordered the gyro plate with their spiced salad. The server was friendly and even added larger portions on my plate as it was the end of the night. He also gave me tips on which toppings to add!! The restaurant seems family run, as I saw children running around. I actually loved that because it's always been proven to be a sign of a safe family friendly establishment which cares for quality!! Went there on a late night quest for some good food. Owners were very pleasant and greeted us as we walked in. They handled the customers they were dealing with ahead of me with care and class. As we were waiting, we could see them making everything fresh to order. I ended up getting a shawarma plate. The portion that you receive is good for two servings. The meat is served over the rice with a seasoned salad on one side and triangles of pita bread in another corner. You have the option of adding on ranch dressing, if you choose, however, on its own, the food tasted amazing. Because the portion was too much for me to finish, I requested a container to take the rest of my food with me. So happy I got to experience this food. I'm sorry but I dont leave many reviews. I ordered the mix gyro plate, hummus and grape leaves. Not one thing I tasted was edible. Maybe it was just a bad night but I had to throw everything away. The hummus was the consistency of water, the grape leaves were without a doubt rotten and the chicken and lamb tasted like freezer burned processed cat food.
