My first visit and won't be my last. As I was leaving the gym, I searched Google Maps for a local Mediterranean place and boom this place popped up only .6 miles away. As I walked in I could tell the inside was very clean. You could smell the clean! I ordered takeout: a Greek salad with added gyro meat and a small side of yellow rice. Service was quick and packaged neatly with dressing and tzatziki on the side. The portions are huge. Both dishes are a great value and of outstanding quality. We ate some of it, but threw the rest away because it wasn't to our liking, and since I didn't know what we ate, I couldn't review it. (True story.) The second time we ordered the Gyro Wrap and the Chicken Kabob with rice and it was really good! I ordered the $15 chicken shawarma bowl (it includes a drink) upon my sisters suggestion and the first thing I noticed was the portion size - it was huge. The dish consists of marinated chicken over a rice with garlic sauce, tomaotes, and chopped onions. It was very good and filling. I'd suggest stopping in and giving them a try. All the ingredients were like they should be; Romain lettuce, kalamata olives, purple onion, cucumber, tomato, and feta cheese. Even the chicken was cooked and seasoned better. Now it just seems like the dish has been americanized or cheaply made. The black olives and yellow onion are horrible in this type of salad! The chicken tastes like it's been sautéed in a pan with season-all. The dressing is not the same and the cucumber and onion are sliced too thick. I've tasted many Greek salads from 10 different places and they were all different but good because they stuck with the main ingredients and seasonings. This has to be the worst tasting Greek salad I've ever had. Sorry! I'm really not a complainer of food, but I think if some corrections are made it could be much better. read more

BEST BAKLAVA I EVER HAD!!!! The perfect amount of cinnamon and honey ouu and thick! I literally just finished and want another one 15/10. Besides the baklava I ordered a side of hummus which was very creamy and topped with a great amount of oil and garlic that came with 2 pieces of grilled pita. I wish it came with 1 more pita but it was a 8.5/10 either way. For my main dish I ordered the falafel bowl which I feel was 1 falafel short but the flavor, texture and rice was spot on 8.5/10. My auntie also ordered food she got the chicken plate and added shrimp and enjoyed every bite 10/10. The service was good. The restaurant itself was okay like an average fast food restaurant but clean lol but it was empty so I guess that's why. Not really a restaurant to sit and enjoy your food unless you like awkward silence and clean tables. I LOVEEEE this place. i get the gyro bowl everytime and it's enough to feed 2! So generous in their meat and rice portion, and I always get an extra tzatziki even tho it come with it on top! Something about the rice just hits everytime! Also pictured is the steak and cheese pita which was sooo yummy and also generously loaded w meat! We also got the hummus which was so refreshing and creamy, definitely homemade! This place is like a secret hole in the wall that I wish more ppl knew about! They also offer fish plates and shrimp plates, not just mediterranean food! It's definitely worth a try at least once! I got enough food to feed 3 people for only $33! Our family doesn't eat much fast food in this area other than Chick-fil-a and Cane's because we refuse to eat at places where they treat you poorly and can't seem to ever get your order right. I can't name any other fast-food restaurants other than those that I trust to make our food. Then enters Gyro Grill ... We are so thankful for this delicious place! We have found that calling ahead to place your order for pick-up works best for us. It isn't true 'fast food' as it may take just a few minutes to get your order together but it is so worth it. They treat you with respect over the phone and in person. They get your order right too! Their chicken shawarma and gyro are very good in their combo plate, wraps and loaded fries. Their kibbeh are so good ... in fact the best I have ever had. Their greek salad is so fresh and really good with the shawarma or gyro meat. Even their burger was good. I have not had anything I did not like. The to-go line is always miles deep at the famous taco place next door that doesn't even serve real meat in their food. After hearing about the Gyro Grill from a few non Yelper friends I thought it was time to try it. And yay!! It is almost fast food. There is a drive up but I think its better suited for called in orders? I see my review jumping around some,... Yes on the portion size! In my pics I tried to showcase the big ass gyro. My big dough bellied self couldn't finish it in the parking lot. I eat alone in parking lots because well, remember the feast scene from Dark Crystal? I would be one of them. Not fun to look at. Anyways, the gyro was big and was enough for round two about an hour later and even then I kinda tossed some out because I was over it. The taste? Was really really good. Many of you may not be familiar with Ali Baba in the French Quarter. I think its some of the best gyro I ever had, this place is right up there with it. I only add feta and hot sauce and boom. I have eaten at all the local Med styled places and this and Ali Baba rings in to me just right. The location is a little off the beaten path on Lapalco. In the old KFC building. The price at first I was kinda put off by, until I was handed the heavy ass bag. You get what you pay for here folks. It also fills a Mediterranean void on this part of the Bestbank. Love this spot for a quick and easy lunch. There aren't a bunch of healthy or healthy adjacent eateries in this area, and it's saved me many times when I wanted something not too heavy. My go-to is the shrimp pita or the Greek salad with chicken (the gyro loaded fries are an honorable mention but I try to keep it cute and light when I do come here, lol). The service is always friendly and pretty quick considering there seems to be limited hands on deck. If we wanted disappointment in a tortilla, we would go across the street to Taco Bell. I would assume this explains why the line is no longer wrapped around the building like it used to be. Went there on a Friday for lunch and we all totally enjoyed our food. I had the Gyro Bowl and the portion size was huge. My husband got the Beef Gyro Combo and my daughter got the Chicken Shawarma Gyro Combo meal. Both came with a large portion of fries and a drink. We passed everything around so that we could get a taste of what each of us were "oohing and aahing" over. I plan to go back soon when we have our next girls lunch. Only down side-wish the dining room was not so fast foodish. read more
