We were in the area and decided to stop by on 16 May 2026 at 1:30pm. The restaurant was very busy but the hostess was able to quickly clear a two top and get us seated. Our server, Gary, quickly arrived and cheerfully greeted us. We knew what we wanted and were able to go ahead and order. Even with a full establishment, the kitchen moved quickly. The spicy lamb ragu hummus was a hit and of course, the warm pita bread with its amazing crust brought the best out of the dish. I could eat this combo for a meal. My wife ordered the green salad with chicken. As expected this was a great dish and one to definitely try. I ordered a lamb burger and found the sauce a bit overpowering but the patty itself was great. We were too full to have dessert and will better pace ourselves next time. My wife had a size-able take home portion and Gary expertly packed the leftovers on some ice for us as we had another stop to make and a long drive home. Stunning atmosphere, beautiful drinks, and delicious food! We tried the fries, salmon, Brussel sprout hummus with pita, and pickled veggies - literally everything was incredible. The flavors worked together so well and the ingredients were so fresh. We left feeling so satisfied and happy! Service was nice and the decor inside is so cute. Came here for a third time now! Pita always slaps! I never really find the entrees worth the price, but the dips and hummus with pita is def a must have. Was seated inside in about 30 minutes on a weekday at 7:30p. Could have made a reservation but didn't want to risk a cancellation fee. Saba was one of the best places to celebrate a birthday. The space is huge, with outdoor seating, a dining room, and a cool lounge room with high ceilings. We had an 8pm reservation and sat in the dining room. Our server was Cam who was so nice and comped my dessert for my birthday. I also got a card when I sat down, and we each got glasses of champagne. For the three of us, we ordered way too much food, but it was all delicious: Lutenitsa (5/5) Sooooo good! Delicious with the pita. Labneh (4/5) Not bad, but not as good as the lutenitsa. Note the portion sizes for this and the lutenitsa are small. Tunisian tomato hummus (3/5) Good sized portion, but I still liked the other dips more. Green salad (4/5) Generous amount of avocado in this salad which was awesome, and the portion size was large. Harissa roasted chicken (4/5) Delicious! It's a half chicken so it's a good sized portion. Smashed golden potatoes (3/5) These tasted good, but "smashed" is not really accurate in my opinion. When I think of smashed potatoes, I think of actual smashed, crunchy potatoes. Seasoned fries (5/5) These were SOOOO GOOD!!!! The dip was meh but the fries were crispy and perfectly seasoned. I'm a vegetarian. There are lots of delicious items on the menu I can eat. I love the salatim and the hummus with their delicious homemade pita. The cocktails are always delicious as well. Service is friendly and attentive. Make a reservation - even if you plan to go on a weeknight when you think it won't be crowded. Only four stars because it is a bit pricey. I have warm feelings towards Alon Shaya, so I have mixed feelings about writing this review. I LOVE a good Patty Melt, so when I saw Saba had a Lamb Patty Melt on the menu, I knew I was going to stop by when I had an appointment in the area recently. And while the lamb and other fillings were tasty (albeit a bit salty) the bread wasn't grilled. Excuse me, but isn't that an essential element of a Patty Melt? And it sat on the plate with only a few slices of pickle on the side. For $21, it would have been nice to have a small salad accompanying it. But the worst was when the bill came. There were 5 line charges beneath the food and drink - a kitchen appreciation fee (4%), a local tax, a state tax, NOEHA tax ( I looked it up - it's a N.O. tourism tax) and a "Hemp" tax (I also looked it up - hemp tax in Louisiana is a 3% EXCISE tax on consumable hemp products). I don't think my Patty Melt or glass of wine included hemp, so why should diners be paying for that? I've eaten out a lot in New Orleans, and have never encountered all these extra fees and charges before. And look, maybe in the scheme of things, it's not that much, but no one likes being nickled and dimed to death. Kitchen appreciation fee- add it into the cost of your food and pay your kitchen staff more - but please, have them grill the bread next time. And a hemp tax - Come on!! read more

I was attending a private party here and everything was top notch, from the customer service to the cocktails, buffet of various hummus, pickled veg, red pepper tapenade, bread, mediterranean salad, falafel, and grilled chicken. I'm sure I'm forgetting some other dishes, but it was all delicious. Everything was seasoned well and nothing was overcooked. The staff was always making sure the food items were refreshed/refilled and that the drinks (alcoholic or not) were constantly flowing. We came on a Friday around noon (brunch) and it was pretty packed, but we were able to get seated immediately at the bar. The vibe was great- guests were slightly dressed up and the restaurant had lots of natural light with beautiful decor! My last review for Saba indicated that it was worthy of a birthday dinner. So worthy that five years later, I wanted to relive that experience for my (21st... JK) birthday. Sure, it was just as five star-great and I could have left it at that, but a review in 2020 is not terribly recent and... there has been a pandemic and so many changes in the restaurant world since then. So it's an achievement to be just as good as I remembered. The hummus with Brussels, good lord, it's so heavenly (with flatbread that still makes me weep and they are so generous with it). Falafel that's crispy and light and flavorful rather than too dense to enjoy (if you're vegan, mention it because they use an egg wash that they will leave off). This time around there were a few of us down to split more small plates, so I also enjoyed the Moroccan carrots (vegan w/o the labneh) and jeweled rice (truth in a name). I wouldn't have even bothered to order the humble carrot but I would have been so so wrong. They are sweet and the perfect side to the very rich hummus, decadent bread and za'atar oil. Our server was so nice and asked about dietary restrictions, noting if she wasn't sure on something that they have a list of dishes with detailed allergens on it. Really helpful for those of us who are veg/GF/nut-free, etc! My goal for next visit (which will not be five years from now, I promise) is to take advantage of the pretty patio seating. We recently went to saba for brunch and really enjoyed it. The restaurant was very cute inside. The service was a little slow initially but our waitress was very nice. The food was tasty and the drink was amazing! Super refreshing and loved the presentation. The classic hummus and pita bread was very good! I definitely want to try other flavors. My boyfriend got the za'atar fried chicken and it was really fresh and flavorful. If you get this- make sure to squeeze the lemon on the chicken. It takes it up a notch! Amazing meal! Saba has definitely been added to our must do when we go to New Orleans. Everything was beyond delicious and the ambience and service was top notch too. For drinks, I got the Consistency Was Key and my husband got the seasonal gazoz, burnt orange. Both were fantastic. To start we got the blue crab hummus which was a 10/10, nice big pieces of crab with a perfectly creamy hummus and a nice hit of lemon to break through the richness. We also got the ikra which also was super creamy, and it was a perfect salt bomb (in the best way) and the nice pops of the smoked trout roe was a welcome surprise. Entree wise the harissa chicken was perfectly cooked, moist, and had the most delicious charred exterior. We went to Saba for Hanukkah this year and it was such a special experience. Mediterranean cuisine isn't usually my first choice, so I'll admit it wasn't my absolute favorite flavor profile--but honestly, I'm really glad we went. It pushed me to be more adventurous with my palate, and that alone made it worth it. Everything felt thoughtfully done for the holiday, and the atmosphere was warm and celebratory without feeling over-the-top. The service was top tier from start to finish--attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. It made the whole evening feel elevated and relaxed at the same time. And the champagne? Delicious. The perfect pairing and a great way to toast the holiday. I'd absolutely go back, and next time I want to lean in even more and try dishes that are outside of my comfort zone. First off, this is delicious. We scored a spot for a larger group on a weekend brunch day. They have a great wine list and some fun cocktails. I would give this spot a 4.5/5 stars simply because two reasons: the portions are pretty small if you plan on sharing and the server forgot to put in my meal order. I did fill up on their delicious bread and got an extra dip, so it was fine but I was the only person at the table without an entree. Mediterranean food is my favorite and Saba does it right. They do a pre fixe menu if you have a group of 8 or more - it's about $50 per person with a bunch of food. read more

I was married years ago in New Orleans, I have a forever love for New Orleans, Have loved the food in New Orleans, But being dairy-free in recent years is a challenge in New Orleans, Thankful that Saba exists in New Orleans. We came to dinner for the first time for our last night of our wedding anniversary dinner. The restaurant asked if we had a special occasion and I was like, "well yes, it's our wedding anniversary" and they really made our evening memorable. With our appetizers I enjoyed a "Dionysius Revival" which the server recommended and it was very good. My husband tried a beer from Greece called "Mythos". And the appetizers were very good; "Matzoh Ball Soup" with duck confit was so delicious (especially with the chilled weather). We also shared a "Classic Tahini Hummus" with fresh, warm pita. For my main, I had a "Harissa Roasted Chicken"; it was very good but in hind-sight wish I had tried their one of the other dishes (like Shakshuka or Bright Green Falafel). Husband went with the "Lamb Kofta". And when we were done with our meals, my husband said he couldn't resist ordering a "Pistachio Baklava" (he loved it). *4 stars for service, because food is subjective I'll start with the good, the restaurant is super cute and quaint. The service was kind and accommodating from the moment we walked in the door. I was super excited about trying this place so we started ordering away. We started with mocktails that were a wapping $15 each...insane! Next was the $26 blue crab hummus. I was expecting some wowing flavor combo, but it was basically simple hummus with lump crab. Lol. Finally there were entrees, $32 shakshuka and $43 red snapper. The shakshuka was the most interesting thing I had ever experienced. It has an overwhelming tomato taste and seemed to be drowned in something that tasted like 13 bunches of cilantro. It was very hard to eat, even just the shrimp. The red snapper was decent. Not the best piece of snapper I've had, but also not the worst. It seemed to be a bit over cooked and dry. There was also the $12 seasoned fries which were seasoned and fried to perfection. Funny how the most inexpensive thing ended up being the best thing we had. Amazing restaurant on Magazine Street in NoLa!!! The restaurant is beautiful: decor is clean and warm at the same time, perfect amount of light/brightness and beautiful table sets. Food was fantastic! We had the babaganoush, tabbouleh, pickled vegetables, heirloom tomato salad, blue crab hummus and the lamb. Everything was absolutely delicious!
