I used to love ordering caesar pita wraps from this place. So hard to find a good chicken caesar wrap in the area and this one was always solid. The chicken was good,the dressing was tasty and it was wrapped well. The last two times I ordered I have been disappointed. The ingredients don't seem as good as they used to be and the service has gone downhill. Last night I gave it another try and ordered something new, the honey mustard chicken wrap. I got home only to find there was zero dressing mixed into the wrap and nothing on the side. So it was just chicken, lettuce tomato and onion. I called to ask if any orders were going out (there were lots of orders being prepared when I picked up) and the girl said no. She didn't offer any solution besides me coming to pick up and that wasn't possible for me. I asked if they could credit me and she offered a credit for the sauce. When I explained I wouldn't eat it without sauce and would appreciate a credit to try this item another day she took down my address and said the sauce would be delivered. It never was. The fries were completely undercooked but I never mind cooking them further at home when a restaurant is slammed with orders. Totally disappointed and will not be returning. read more

My review is based on customer experience not food quality. I find the food tastes good and is well made but overall service is lacking attention to detail time and time again. I understand businesses are trying to survive within the current economic struggles, and while food prices are climbing, the little things from a customer experience are that much more important to keep people happy. In a 2 year timespan (maybe 10x I ordered) I have NEVER been able to try the tomato Orzo that's listed with most dishes. Every single time I select it, within minutes I get a call back that there is no more and to choose another option. At this point I just think its a fake option to make the dishes sound more enticing. I understand that places run out of things sometimes, but EVERY SINGLE TIME in 2 years, come on now. Every order always has something that is left out, its usually a side salad or two. This place doesn't deliver, they want you to drive back and fix their mistake or they offer a $5 credit to your number. Like anyone is going to really remember that next time? Side sauces like tzatziki is never in the bag, its always left out. While all of these things are small in nature, when combined and multiplied over numerous visits, i find my money would be better spent at a place that puts the extra detail into checking the orders or making it right if an error occurred. Not bad..but not great...a decent spot for a quick Greek meal. Falafel: 2.5/5, the falafel didn't really taste that fresh, and it was very dry. The sauce to dip in was a savior otherwise I probably would've tossed this dish. Beef/Lamb Gyro: 4/5, this was pretty good. The seasoning on the meat was decent but it was very salty. Still enjoyed it, but felt like I was consuming a teaspoon of salt with each bite. Still....pretty damn good. Overall this is not a spot I plan on frequenting often, BUT if I'm in the area and in the mood for Greek I'll probably give it another try. read more

We ordered a light dinner consisting of a shared lentil soup, which was delicious and a generous portion, and 2 gyros. The food was tasty and plentiful. When I said that they forgot tomatoes on my sandwich, the server brought it immediately. It wasn't crowded and usually isn't. I think their location is a drawback. There is street parking which doesn't go over well on Long Island. They have the new policy, which is everywhere, of a "discount " for cash. I'm thinking of getting cards which say I've changed my policy as well and there will be a similar reduction in gratuities. read more

Exceptional fresh food and will order from them again. Unusually souvlaki is dried out but theirs was moist and tender. My only beef was the tables. These small square tables are a little uncomfortable for your legs. Replace them and I will dine in more often. read more

Super casual place, looks like most people do take out, but we ate in and had a delicious meal. (Two meals, actually, there was so much left over to take home!) The woman running the place is incredibly friendly, just the right amount of chatter vs leaving us alone to eat in peace. Falafel was super crunchy outside, almost creamy inside. We both did "build your own" gyro platters - hubs had pepperoncini, cucumber, and onion rings, I had tomato orzo, dolmades, feta, and grilled onions - both of us with spicy tzaziki on the side. Really, everything was delicious. I wish I was better at identifying and describing different flavors, so I could tell you about how good the orzo was - like comfort food. The feta was strong and very moist, not just dry salty crumbles. We used to get Greek food at a different place closer to us, but I think from now on we're going to have to drive the extra 10 minutes to Oceanside or use Door Dash. If I could give it 4.5 stars I would, but I reserve 5 stars for places that are really super unique knock your socks off. I went here on a whim on NYE for takeout. The staff was super friendly and the food was delicious! The woman at the counter was very sweet and we talked about how glad we were that 2020 was about to be behind us. As for the food, I had the sweet chili chicken gyro with rice combo. The chili chicken was sweet but not too sweet, spicy but not too spicy, and had a really good tasting sauce that I used to dress the rice on the side. So this just happened: I ordered from GYRO BAR in Oceanside last week: a grilled chicken platter, but what I got was sliced chicken on potatoes. When I called to say that I expected a whole chicken cutlet (which is how other Greek restaurants serve it) the manager said that is how they serve it, cut up. I told her that I didn't like it so she said she would give me a credit next time I ordered. Fine. Well I ordered 2 Greek salads with grilled chicken tonight and when I went to pick it up the manager Karen said she would only give me a credit for $6.50 for the chicken. Well the platter I had ordered last week was $20.99 but she would only give me a credit for $6.50 bc that's the price of the chicken. She said that it came with potatoes and salad and I would have to pay for that. I very rarely write reviews on Yelp, but the awesome experience I had here warrants the review. The only thing as good as the food was the customer service. The staff was so nice to us from the moment we walked in and by the end of the night we had a nice chat with the waitress who was very friendly. The food was super fresh and the quality was second to none. I got the stuffed grape leaves and the beef-gyro platter and even though I was STUFFED, I couldn't stop eating. Didn't apologize didn't try to make it right just tried to make it seem like it's a door dash problem... like door dash just picked it up and drive it here. They didn't make it. Karen kept saying to call door dash to get a refund. Like i wasn't asking for one I was asking for some Tatziki and just to let them know the mistake. Beyond disappointed. Probably the best gyro I've ever had (authentic pork style) Fries cooked to perfection, pork that was plentiful and delicious, thick tzatziki sauce with just the right amount of onions. I went to this restaurant when it was the taste of Greece and was very disappointed when I heard it changed owners. I have taken out from Gyro Bar now and I can honestly tell you that the food here is delicious. Everything is fresh and made-to-order and the owner is very accommodating in making dishes to your specifications. I was a regular when it was Taste of Greece and now I will be a regular at Gyro Bar. I suppose everybody has their own way of preparing foods, but I was a bit disappointed tonight in Gyro Bar. While the portions were generous, the food was bland. The avgolemno soup had barely a trace of lemon, which was a major disappointment. It was warm and tasteless. The hummus was peculiar and had an off flavor. I had ordered the falafel, which was prepared very dark and crisp, with a soft center. However, the problem here was that there was not any flavor whatsoever. There were no herbs inside. There were barely any spices. Very sad. The dinner salad was adequate, the spanakopita was very large for an appetizer, but it also suffered from a lack of taste. The eggplant dip would have benefited from some salt and other spices. The food did look like they took pride in their product, I just wish they would consider using some spices to make the food more interesting. read more
