My daughters first day and she was very shy. Miss Wes was very kind and gentle with her and she warmed up quickly. So far I love it!

My first impression with Gymworks did not go well. I was told that although my child was three, she was not considered three and would therefore need to be enrolled in the 18-36 month class. The Location: There is an undeniable animal type of smell when you walk in. Almost as if there is a stable nearby. Instructor: Ms. Wes, the owner/instructor is difficult. She is a bit brash and short. There is a previous review that stated she doesn't work with young ones well... I agree. She isn't mean per se, her personality is just not for everyone. She scolds adults for using their cell phones... Mind you, this is not in the gym area... Rules: There are several neon paper signs posted everywhere regarding dress code.... I understand that a certain attire is needed, but only the little girls are in 'dress code'. There are several little boys in the class that wear regular T-shirts and sweat pants. All in all Gymworks is not completely horrible, but it isn't great either. My daughter lets off steam for 45 minutes and it was a Groupon purchase. I won't be going back though. read more

Last night, I read the review of this facility. I will say, If I had read the reviews I would not have sent my son to this camp.So I would like to share my thoughts. Our experience has been great! My little boy has a hard time being left in new situations. I walked him into the classroom on the first day of camp. The teacher was kind and helped him get situated. When I told him I was leaving, he looked at me and said "bye mom." No tears!!! I have an outspoken little boy. Each day he says that he has fun. I asked him if the teachers were nice and he said "yes." He keeps singing this welcome song each day and dancing. He talks about the stories and activities. I am like all parents worried when we leave our kids in new situations. I also know that if my son were not enjoying himself he would tell me. This camp has been a good experience for my son. read more

My son loves this place. Ms. Wes and Ms. amanda really care. They do lots of activities with the children and are constantly doing something new & fun. My son didn't want to leave. He's never been anywhere without me so this was a great introduction to some fun time without mom.. the other reviews are ridiculous! Honestly the review about the parents/grandparents just wanting to say bye and them not letting them is very hard to believe. I was always able say goodbye. There is also a window where you can look in and I was never asked to leave. However I did understand this was a camp for my children.. not a mommy & me! If you're looking for a fun place to build your children's independence and just a fun, safe, environment to meet friends. I highly recommend! Also, they do something different everyday. They do face painting, cooking, water play day- it's super cute. And you can't beat the price for all the fun activities they do and the money that goes into supplying them! I loved it so much I signed him up for additional camps and went ahead and signed my son up for gymnastics! Again, I highly recommend! read more

Gymworks Gymnastics - Gymnastics Near Me - Suwanee, Georgia

I am shocked to see some of the negative reviews here. I originally found Gymworks from Groupon and my daughter loved the class! I signed my son up for a few of the summer camps to try out because the prices were again so great compared to other day camps. I was very impressed with the activities that Miss Wes came up with for the kids and my son came home so excited every day afterwards. Give this place a chance, I think you'll be glad you did. read more

First, I want to state that I am not a person who spends time writing bad reviews; I think all of my other reviews are 5 stars. But this is NOT a professional business. I started with a Groupon because my son wanted to try gymnastics. He loved it (so I will say that- there's the reason for the one star), so I decided to pay the year membership and have his father take him one night a week. The owner, Mrs. Wes, does not communicate via email, or at all for that matter. One night my child and his father showed up for class and no one was there. They waited 30 minutes, no sign, no call, no email, nothing- they left and there was never an explanation as to why there was no class that night. Also, no refund for that missed class. We skipped the following month due to money issues, and at the end of the month, I tried MULTIPLE times (at least 5) to call Mrs. Wes to make the payment for the following month (it's $64 if you pay before the 1st and I think $69 if you pay on or after? - again, there is no online pay) and she never answers the phone (I called during the specified window of time the recording states), and only ONCE did she call me back. I was working and couldn't answer the phone, tried her back twice to no answer and no returned call. I wake up Sunday morning, June 30th, and I have an email from Square stating that GymWorks has charged me $74. I am beyond upset because I never signed anything giving her permission to charge my card, and when I called to leave a voicemail, the new recording states that there is no class the week of July 4th, and calls will be returned on Monday, July 8th!!! Not only did she take my money without my consent, but she took MORE than the stated monthly amount, BEFORE July 1st, AND she is completely unreachable for over a week. These are corrupt business practices and I am beyond livid. read more

Why is this place still in business?? I drove an hour in traffic to check this place out with my 5 year old who by the way was soooo excited to go that she had her leotard underneath her clothes ALL DAY waiting for this moment. We walk in, it's HOT AF, and there's one little girl in there looking like she's about to pass out from heat exhaustion. I asked to do a tour of the place and she didn't let us go inside to even see the gym area. Told us to look through the window. Also told my daughter that her leotard wasn't acceptable because it had a few rhinestones on it. She then proceeded to try and sell hers to us. It was A LOT going on that I didn't appreciate.. Long story short, I ended up going to Metro Gymnastics down the street. I'd rather pay full price for a great experience than to pay a discounted rate for half ass service. read more

We found gymworks on Groupon and now I can confidently say, "No wonder! " There is no way the instructor, Ms.Wes, could get and KEEP business otherwise. She offers 5 classes for about $30. My preschooler was on her 4th class when the instructor thought it would be a good idea to firmly grip my baby, which only made her even more afraid to join the class during, what she calls, Awards Week, where family members are allowed into the gym to watch the kids perform. Needless to say, my daughter was too emotional and taken a back to participate in the class. The instructor has a rude personality, which wouldn't too much bother me, if her facility, and everything else were in tip top shape. In addition to that, she's really picky about the girls leotards. She claimed that the leotard that I had purchased, was loose fitting and could get caught on the equipment BUT the little boys in class were wearing basketball ball shorts and t-shirts. For the sake of keeping peace and wanting my baby girl to participate, I ordered one of her leotards for $18. Mind you, Ms.Wes got the design order WRONG! Had it not been for the fact that Ms. Wes manhandled my daughter and my daughter refusing to go back, we would have gone to her last class, but I absolutely would not recommend gymworks to anyone ever! After her 3rd class, I dreaded the fact that my daughter had two more to go. Don't waste your time or money! read more

Terrible. There's a reason why they are on Groupon. The teacher herself needs to hire a staff that can teach the kids gymnastics instead. The teacher is rude, constantly yells at the parents about phone even if you are just holding it. She's not fit to be teaching a gymnastics class and has no patience with kids. I came to two class and didn't even want to bring my 2 year old daughter back here. Please save your money and go elsewhere where your child will actually learn something. read more

Sadly, I don't feel that the owner/ instructor is suited to work with small children. Being stern is one thing but alienating a toddler is another. Me and some of the other parents remarked that even WE felt "scolded" by her for the smallest things. I think her demeanor may be due to her lack of other employees/coaches. I'm really disappointed with my experience. My child refused to go back in the class after the owner man-handled her one day. It's really disheartening to see your child break down any time someone asks her about gymnastics. After only 2 classes, we will not be returning. I'll just take the loss on the Groupon. read more

I got a deal off of Groupon to see if my 4 year old would like gymnastics before enrolling her. We showed up at 4:19 and there were no cars in the parking lot. The door was locked. On the phone I was told to show up early, so I called to make sure the gym wasn't closed. The owner answered and I reminded her I was a newbie with the Groupon and asked if it was open. The owner told me the gym would open in a few minutes at 4:20. So I sat in the parking lot for a few more minutes--past 4:20. I thought it was rude I was new and was asked to show up early and yet, I was told to wait and waited I did--past the time the doors were to open. So after that was happened, I had my 4 year old in a cute little tumbling outfit that I thought was a proper leotard (what did I know). She had her hands on my child, as the demonstrator, in front of a room of parents, demonstrating how her leotard was not okay for gymnastics. Meanwhile I can see the face of my poor 4 year old drop. It was not right to humiliate her like that or put her hands on my child. If that wasn't enough, I was corrected about trying to take pictures and my husband was corrected about being too close to the observation window. The gym itself is not fully equipped as it does not have bars or a foam pit. The kids stretched for a solid part of their time. Not worth the deal on Groupon or the embarrassment. I e-mailed the owner to tell her she needs to talk to me in private and not use my child as a prop if she had a problem with what she was wearing. I never received a response. Not a way to run a business. Very sad because she won't grow if she doesn't have better etiquette. read more

I gave Ms. Wes more chances that I should have. She has an attitude with the kids that I feel is not appropriate. I took my daughter here for almost 2 years. At first I felt like she was alway mad or annoyed at the kids but I still gave her a chance. I got her through Groupon but since my daughter enjoyed it I kept her in. She still does Groupon which I feel affects the class because at least every other month she does her Groupon class where she goes back to teaching very very basic. And this last for 5 weeks. So my daughter was basically taking repetitive classes. The latest thing she did which was my breaking point was combing classes. Her classes were already kinda big. Maybe 8-10 a class. But after she combined 3yr - 5yr in one class. It was too much. She had 12-15 kids. And then she hired Ms. Amanda which I'm not sure if she has a lot of experience in gymnastics. But it was basically a class of 15 kids to 1 teacher. And I say 1 because Ms.Amanda only helps out in the back, not teaching anything. The other thing that pushed me to leave is during the summer she opens the garage doors in the gym. Letting mosquitos come in. My daughter would leave the gym cover in mosquito bites. Her arms and legs. I feel like I shouldn't have to worry about this. Anyways we left. I found a much better place. I also feel like after a year +, my daughter should know how to do simple tumble moves. She didn't. We came to this new place where we've been here for almost 2 months and she has learned so much more than at Gymworks. For Groupon, it's okay to do the trial. To see if your kid likes it. After looking around for other places. Most keep similar prices. My daughter was 3 when we started there and left at 5 years old. read more

I hope my review will help some parents make informed decisions regarding this business. With so many options in our area, I am quite surprised this place manages to stay open with how many parents seem disappointed in the service. Here's my story... I signed up my boys for summer camp last year & after going several weeks I did not make them attend the last week they were scheduled to go, due to feeling like the establishment was just not for us. I had prepaid and of course, never got a phone call back about any kind of reimbursement. But I figured that would be the case. Nothing is worth my child going through an awful experience like this place. I witnessed quite a few alarming things there. But I will start off with the positive -- the younger women who assist the owner were all very nice to the kids from what I could see when I dropped them off & picked up. But I have on video the last day of each week where the kids show their parents what they've learned -- the owner yelling commands at the kids and not once did she have a smile on her face. Come on! This is supposed to be fun, this isn't the Olympics and this woman is certainly NOT a gymnast herself so I'm not sure why she has to be so brash! I find it a little bit funny that another parent said she has very strict rules about cell phones...the owner walks around with her ear piece in and a few times when I thought I could ask her a question she stopped me while talking on her cell phone. I guess she doesn't have to follow her own rules. I also witnessed her scolding several children for not doing what they were supposed to be doing after being checked in for the morning. Her lack of patience 5 minutes literally after kids were arriving was simply stunning! She did tell me several times how old school she is and how she had family (I think it was an aunt/uncle) who would pull the car over and spank her when she acted up. I really don't think she realized how that sounds to a parent that is about to leave her kids in her care!! But the most alarming situation was when I walked in early one afternoon for pickup and everyone was in the back in the gym, but my child was alone in the front attempting to use the restroom with the door half open. Seriously, that's a hazard and they should know that ANY number of things could have happened with the front door totally unlocked -- wow, am I glad it was me walking in right then!!!! He also told me he spent a considerable amount of time sitting in time out. Really - it's only a 3 hour camp, you should be able to keep the kids busy enough for that amount of time without putting them in lengthy time outs!! Parents, there are so many other wonderful places to send your kids for gymnastics and camp around here! We've gone to Metro Gymnastics in Sugar Hill for years taking classes and doing parents night out. They are STELLAR, loving, always smiling and having fun with the kids. I highly recommend them! My youngest has also attended a summer camp at Georgia Gymnastics Academy, which is huge. They are prob more of a competitive gymnastics place than I care for my children to be in so we haven't taken classes there (and I was a gymnast growing up in 2 different countries overseas so I do understand the schedule & commitment of a hardcore gymnastics academy), but their summer camp looked awesome and I know he had a lot of fun. Unfortunately, I just can't recommend this business. My kids didn't seem to learn anything they didn't already know how to do - which was fine, I only wanted them to have fun somewhere new. I just didn't expect to witness so many unprofessional moments -- by the way, the owner also complained to me about several families that didn't like her "style" of teaching classes and I guess she supposedly kicked one little girl out. Just very tacky to be griping to a paying customer about other paying customers! read more

While some parents are complaining how strict Ms Wes is, I find her very helpful in teaching a child to listen to instructions, focus, and patience. All things they need to do well in school. She wants kids to listen to her and follow instructions because she doesn't want them to get hurt. My niece loves Ms Wes and knows she needs to listen and follow her teachers instructions. She is better prepared for school as well as learning the SAFE ways to do gymnastics. I rather she have an instructor who cares about keeping the kids safe than babying them and ignoring safety issues. read more

I consider this place a filthy garage with very old and smelly equipment. The Instructor/Owner, Ms. Wes can smile at you only when you have your credit card in your hand. Other then that, I consider that this person is not suitable to work with people. read more

Do not send your child to this place! We made the mistake of sending my grandson here for the Safari camp. The lady that runs the program was very rude and aggressive. At first my grandson was excited to go and willingly went into the classroom. When we tried to go into the room we were told we were not allowed to. The reason we were given was that parents stayed to long and this made it harder for the staff. The teacher literally blocked the doorway with her body! My grandson always gives goodbye hugs and he ran back out from the room to give us a hug and that is when the director jumped up and snatched him away from us. We left feeling very ill at ease but chalked it up to first day craziness. When my daughter returned to pickup my grandson he ran out to give her a hug but was stopped in his tracks when the director grabbed him by both arms and told him to do as she had told him and to go back in the room and get his lunch check box! On the drive home he complained of being hungry. When my daughter asked him about lunch he told her they wouldn't let him eat his lunch because it was a peanut butter and jelly sandwich!! This was mentioned in an email that would not open. This was never mentioned during sign in. My 4 year old grandson sat and watched all the other kids eat their lunch! He was not taken into the hallway or into a other area he was just not allowed to eat! None of this was mentioned at pickup! He also told us that the director yelled at him. Please do not send any kid to this place. They do not need to be around children ever! read more

My son went to the safari camp for one day. The instructor has a gruff/grouchy personality and seems to just yell at the kids. I was filling out paperwork when she began to take him into the classroom, which parents weren't allowed to go into and look around because it makes it harder for the children she said. When he didn't have a chance to say goodbye to me he became upset and she physically put her hands on him and tried to force him into the room. At the time I thought it might still be okay because he had calmed down and began to color so I left him. Then to find out He was not allowed to eat his peanut butter and jelly sandwich at lunch even though no sign was posted at drop off which she didn't mention when I picked him up either. Again during pickup she put her hands on his upper arms and physically stopped him when he ran to me and turned him around to go get his lunchbox. Do not send your children here!! read more

Unfortunately, I do not feel the owner/instructor is experienced or professional enough to teach the children. After our first 45 minute session, she proceeded to diagnosis my child as slow to catch-on to her commands. This was the first time my child had any gymnastics experience and was not aware of any type of 'commands'. She later pulled me aside and in front of my child asked if she had learning disabilities, I told her she had no disabilities and her doctor has asked to stay away from making quick diagnosis in the early stages of development. I decided to take her back one more time to monitor the owner/instructors behavior with my child. She intentionally, drew attention to her by repeating commands and repeatedly calling her name in front of the other parents and student, which was humiliating and isolating. I would not recommend this gymnastic group to anyone. Additionally, the gym did not appear well kept or safe, as it was in the back of a warehouse/garage with very open access to the outside for anyone to come in. The front door was not managed or locked; which is concerning since the gym is in an isolated area. read more

I was a child who absolutely loved gymnastics. I honestly wasn't that good at it, but Ms. Wes always encouraged me and gave me positive reinforcement for how hard I tried. She was strict and wouldn't allow me to chicken out. Once she had to get a second spotting coach to coax me into doing my vault that I was petrified to do. I guess these days, parents would rather have their kids chicken out, but when I soared over that vault, it proved to me that my fear was only in my head. I learned courage from that experience. Ms. Wes also allowed me to work at the gym every Saturday morning for a few hours cleaning in order to pay for some of the cost of my monthly team tuition because my parents couldn't afford it. She was very generous and having to work for something I wanted taught me a valuable lesson. I don't think the reviews on this site are very fair to Ms. Wes. She has 30+ years experience as a gymnastics coach and grew up doing the sport herself. Her rules have a reason, and frankly kids have to learn how to cope with silly things like embarrassing moments. Stop complaining and coddling your children. Not every word said has to be said with a smile, and discipline such as "time-out" teaches kids responsibility and respect for the rules. Hands down, Ms. Wes was one of the most positive influences in my life growing up. read more
