One star off just for prices that are a bit high ( and no sibling discount like most) and that there is only one car space.

I've been to the Friday night drop in ($17, from 9pm - 1am) a few times now and actually quite liked it as compared to the other indoor volleyball courts in Toronto. HUGE area with super cool post industrial/factory "decor" from the previous operation. A little challenging to get up there if you don't have a car, walking up a dark street from the bus stop..is not for the faint of heart. Getting home from there at night via TTC is another challenge. Best advice: carpool/ taxi, or go for their Sunday (DAY ITME) drop-ins Liked that it's not too cold inside since it wouldn't be nice to freeze the moment you stopped playing/ waiting for the next game. It's usually not too busy when I was there, so it's awesome not to be sitting around and wait. I find that people that play there are friendlier as well. Good mix of people playing 2's, 4's and 6's. Not too hard to find a partner/team if you go alone. Here's how it works when I was there, Winner stay, loser out. You find a partner/team and go to the court you want to play in, call the next game and play the winner. If there's a lineup, then usually peeps would agree on maximum 3 wins per team consecutively. Sometimes there's a flipping score broad laying around, it will be great if you can ask someone along the side to keep score. If not, just keep score and call out every time one serve. Yes, yes, it's just a game, why take it so seriously? Well, nothing is more annoying for people who are called the next game just to found out that NOBODY were keeping score. There are lots of space and showers in the washroom. Go through a maze and then you will find the ladies washroom. A little sign/direction where the washroom is will be much appreciated for the first timers. Beach Blast also offers leagues, clinics and tournaments of which I have never been, but heard good things about. If it's not for the location, I most likely will sign up for more activities at Beach Blast.

Beach Blast is worth a shot if you're looking to get your beach volleyball fix…read more Pros: Lots of courts (including outdoor) Cons: Poor ventilation (leads to very hot temperatures inside) I came here for a tournament on a Monday night. First thing I noticed as soon as I walked in was how hot and humid it was. This places doesn't have very good ventilation at all. There were 16 teams at this tournament so there were a lot of bodies inside which made it worse. It was a hot day temperature wise outside but it was like heaven compared to inside the venue. They need to do something about that. Other than the heat problem, Beach Blast is otherwise not a bad place to play. There are a good number of courts available. They even have some courts dedicated to beach dodge ball. Outside, there are another set of courts available (why weren't we playing there?) as well. There's a little bar at the front that serves cold drinks. I was not able to located a water fountain of any sort so bring your own water unless you're willing to pay for it. Something to note, if you come in the evening, it's very dark when you l;eave as the lighting in the area is not good at all. It's located in an industrial area so plan accordingly, specially if you don't drive. All in all, Beach Blast is pretty much like all the other indoor volleyball courts I've been to. It's not going to wow you at any point but you'll have a great time nonetheless.

The welcoming staff and teachers appear to be caring and competent. It is well organized and the enrollment / registration staff are responsive and attentive. For children's classes, all materials and supplies are included. My child really seems to enjoy the class and the teachers! For adults, materials lists are provided. All instructors I've had are inspiring, caring and kind albeit their fake encouragements and rushed attitudes. They make sure everything is understood and help you develop artistic senses, and find areas where you can improve. What came off as disappointment is that they were not willing to engage in interesting discussions because they have to stick to schedule. Classes are very small but it is perfect for people who have school or work during daytime, and enrolment fees won't break the bank, so might as well take it lightly instead of a serious school where you learn to become artists. I took various painting and drawing classes and photography lessons, with which I am happy as I became knowledgable with those activities but there were some cancelled classes time to time. And sometimes classes are boring as not many people are enrolled and instructors would end early where he would not know what to do with remaining time.

Birthday party review:…read more We went to the gym for a 4-year-old's birthday party. It was one hour of supervised play (2 instructors) followed by snacks in a small party room (the host was in charge of providing the snacks). The play area was a small rectangular space. There was a rope swing, cushioned stairs and mats, a small trampoline and a cushioned swinging column that kids can swing on. My kids are 1- and 3-year-old stayed mostly in the pillow pit and bounced a bit on the trampoline. After a bit of free play, the kids were told to run through the circuit, but my kids didn't quite grasp the concept. The older kids seemed bored. I'm not sure what the optimum age is for this type of party... Maybe 5 year olds? After the circuit, the kids took turns on a harassed aerial swing. This seemed fun and the kids were pulled quite high in the air. The gym does provide tumbling and gymnastic classes. I peered into the large gym area and it looked legit (I don't know anything about gymnastic classes though). There's also parent and tot classes too. The birthday party might be fun for kids around 5-8 years old. I wouldn't host a party there myself as the play area is small and the activities were somewhat limited, but if my kids are invited to a birthday party there, we'll attend.

Sorry I can't say much first hand about this place as a gymnastics school. Our friends' kids went there for years and were really happy. They only "quit" because they moved out of country. The clubhouse is situated at the end of Gordon street and offers a fantastic view of lake Ontario. Amenities are much like those from a well kept small resort with the convenience facilities like the showers, a staffed bar, multiple outdoor patios and communal BBQ for the members and their guests. Since we joined towards the end of this year's boating season, we did not get to experience the regatta and other fun activities like the Octoberfest planned by the club, but we're looking forward to enjoying the full experience next year.

From intro sailing for little kids (called Mosquitos) to more advanced sailing programs (White Sail) to advanced sailing techniques and racing (Broze, Silver, Gold), the WYC is a superb place for smart, active, eager kids who love the water and want to learn many life lessons and skills they will hold onto for the rest of their lives. Our favourite instructor Ian has moved on and now Emma has taken over. My son raves about Emma and the other instructors. Both on water and classroom instruction. The little kids play games too and have fun. Sunscreen required...at least SPF 45, applied at least twice a day. At the end of the year there is a banquet and the kids get their diplomas, have a meal and awards are handed out. Trust me, this is a great summer program. Space is limited.
