Myself and a group of friends are on a softball team, and I have been in need of a glove. One of the gals on my team recommended I come here to look for one, so here we are! As soon as I walked in, I saw everything recreational you could think of--bikes, bats, gloves, helmets--name it, they probably have it. It didn't take me long to find the gloves as they were right by the door. They were all clearly labeled for what type of ball you were playing - fast pitch, softball, etc. I looked through the softball gloves and found a lot of brand new ones (some of them were a pretty penny), and very few used gloves. Lucky for me, I came across a glove that fit my hand just right, was used and only cost $20! As I was checking out, I asked the girl at the register if she thought the glove looked like it fit me (I've clearly never played the sport before, lolz). She said yes and then asked me if I was going to be a first baseman. Errrr...I do not know. She went in to explaining the different kinds of gloves there are and that she could show me what other options they had. I respectfully declined, I was trying to ball on a budget. (Pun intended.) I asked her a little bit more about their business and she shared with me that they are a sister company of Plato's Closet and run in a similar fashion. You can sell your old stuff to them and get cash/store credit in exchange for your items. She also shared that this specific location (they have another one in Nampa) mostly has new items and only some used. Something to keep in mind when coming here - you might strike gold and find a solid deal like I did, but you also might end up with only brand new options available.

I opted for the repair and when they left, they assured me they would put the other bike aside in case this one malfunctioned again. It ended up malfunctioning again a few weeks later and I contacted the owners. Again, a very fast response and then delivered the other bike to me. They even helped my get the old bike downstairs and the new one upstairs! Excellent customer service! The second bike is even better than the first one! Great price, great service, great owners! It wasn't bad, but I wanted some kind of a knee stabilizer, so I went to Dick's. This was at the beginning of the holiday shopping rush. I was not having a good day... besides knee pain and my lower back hurting I have foot problems, and so I kind of hobbled into the store. I was promptly greeted and directed to the correct aisle, where I found a nice selection of knee braces. I chose two that looked promising, and I asked a nearby employee if I could take them out of the box and try them on, and he encouraged me to do so. And then he did something that absolutely astounded me. He got me a camp chair so that I could sit down right there in the aisle and try them on. They both fit, and I wasn't sure which was best, and he told me I could try them both out and return the one I didn't want. That small act of kindness, getting the chair for me, was really appreciated, and I will never forget that. And I had no problem returning the unchosen brace after the holiday season was over (to avoid the traffic around the mall).

The huge corporate stores love to do that to the smaller stores like Big 5. Big 5 is a better store, but of course they don't carry as much. Their prices are certainly better and makes happy this location hasn't been forced out because of the giant Dicks (lol) right next to it. There's a Big 5 minutes from my house too, so I go there more. Dicks is across from the mall so if I am In that area I may think of going in, but like I said, this was the 2nd time in 6 years that I've been in that store. I have also rented skis here for my kids several times and I appreciate that you can trade in equipment as your kid grows during the season. There is a charm about this location. The vibes this store gives off is happy. As soon as my husband and I walked in, we were instantly greeted. And no matter what department we were in, everyone was so kind! A sweet gal help me locate a shirt at another store. A gentleman in the gun department was doing a really good job at helping me husband. Some of the employees at the Glenwood location are nice but these folks here are niccccccceeeee!!
