The best boot fitting service in the valley. Convenient location to Bogus so you can pick up your tune on the way up. I have leased equipment here that I have ended up purchasing. I have been able to special order Yakima keys for an ancient rack I bought secondhand. The guy who helped me had to do a little research which was really helpful. Sometimes e-commerce is not the way to go. And fitting ski equipment is one of those times. And even though Greenwoods might not have the big selection and low prices of a big box, they can order anything and the ROI is high because of the superior service you get. They have a great rental shop too. Oh and if you sell equipment at the ski swap you get a boost in funds if you use your check here to buy something new. read more

I originally went to a different local rental shop the day before the long MLK weekend; they didn't have what I wanted. It was 2 hours before our group departure and I had no gear! At the recommendation of a friend, I went to Greenwood's. They not only had what I needed in stock, but they delivered service with a smile. I came in, and three people came in behind me. The main employee was quick to call some back-up help and his teammates made sure all the customers were helped in a timely manner. The gear was in good condition; I rented boots, skis, and poles. I usually have a problem finding comfortable ski boots as my calves are totes ripped; they fitted my boots perfectly! And last but not least, prices. The prices were CRAZY good. This place has been by far one of the best experiences, I've had on my trip so far. I was on a trip visiting my brother for his birthday, We had plans to go skiing. I found this place while comparing ski equipment rental pricing. This place by far has the best prices on rental equipment. They are very knowledgeable about the equipment for the needs of beginners intermediates or advanced skiers. Coming in and getting skis fitted and rented it took about 10 to 15 minutes, they were very attentive, and answered all my questions perfectly. They have a very friendly staff, that really knows their stuff. So we went skiing the next day, unfortunately it was pouring down rain, And it was predicted to rain the following day, that's what I get for coming to try to go skiing at the end of the season. So ended up calling this place back, I was expected to have the skis rented for another day, I explain to them that it has been pouring rain all day, I never got to use the skis, and I explain to them if I'm able to bring him back today if I could get my money back since I never did use the skis. , And they were totally cool about it, They understood that it's been a really bad ski season, and that the snow is melting really fast. They gave me full $37 refund for the two days I was supposed to have the skis for. Next time I come back for next season ski trip, I'll come in the middle of the season, so I know that there's good snow, and I will definitely be coming back here again to re-rent My skis. read more

This place is OK for old school, heavy metal, alpine ski equipment. They have a lot of lease business but it doesn't set them apart. Their location is convenient ... i'll give them that. If you are looking for any of the newer, lightweight, AT gear try someplace else. If you purchase your boots from another retailer (because they don't have anything remotely like what you are looking for at Greenwoods) don't make the mistake of taking them there for a boot fitting / heat mold as you'll probably catch some attitude because you didn't purchase them there and will probably be quoted a pretty high price for the work. I'm thinking many folks go there because it's the oldest in town and their parents took them there. good for them. that's not good enough for me. read more

On a beautiful, blue-sky, day following several days of new snow during the Christmas season we stopped at Greenwood's to rent equipment. We consisted of six adults and two children. We needed skis for the adults, a snow board for an adult and boots and poles for the adults. Of course, with the beautiful weather and plentiful snow there were plenty of other renters competing for the attention of the staff. We were outfitted in a reasonable amount of time and we were on our way to a great day of skiing. The rental prices were reasonable and the equipment was in good condition. As a bonus, Greenwood's sells vouchers for Bogus Basin lift tickets which can be exchanged for lift tickets at the ski area at a discount from the regular price. I called all the shops in town (I'm not from Boise) to help a friend find the right shop where he would get the best deal and most knowledgeable staff. I know its hard to be patient with someone with too many questions on the phone, however they were very patient with all my questions. My friend went in and got exactly what they said he could. I spent about 45 minutes looking over skis and rather than make the quick sell, they instead recommended that I rent several demos types over the winter to see which I like best. They also have no qualms about tuning up my ancient skis and have never given me any grief about thier age.
