This is perfect for little kids but not so much for older kids. There is a lifeguard there at all times, only watching this splashpad, which is very cool. Still must be very watchful as a parent. I wish there was more shade for seated, watching parents, but so be it. There is a shady picnic grassy area adjacent to the splash pad that can easily be used to host a birthday party. The picnic tables are not close enough to the splashpad to be able to watch your kids from here. This whole area is fenced in and only accessible by coming through the front of the Aquatic Center's check in gate. Then only those who purchase additional tickets can enter this area to use the splash pad. My friend brought coolers and had a nice party here. We first noticed the splash pad during swimming lessons here. Since it is inside of the Aquatic Center, it is not very visible from the road. Please note that only bathing suits are allowed; no normal shorts are allowed. They will enforce this! Plenty of parking in the parking lot.

The Monday before the class Hope (the owner) contacted me via text message to see if I would be registering my daughter for the hip-hop class (Which I thought was strange) I responded with I think we're going to do ballet. I think it's on Tuesday... Hope responded with they had a Tuesday class and a Wednesday class I told her I think we will be attending the Tuesday class however my daughter is not feeling well but we will try to make it The owner responded with I will add her to the roster I hope she feels better. I responded with thank you, because that's what you do when someone tells you that they hope your child feels better when they're not well. A few minutes later, she charged my credit card, which I didn't even know until I had looked at my statement did not know that her telling me she was going to add my daughter to the roster meant she was going to register my child for this class. I wasn't even sure if we were going to make it, I had planned on registering my child the night we attended the class. I did not know that "I'm going to add her to the roster" meant that you're going to pay for this class now I'm fighting with the credit card company trying to get a refund for a class that my daughter did not attend and for a class that I did not register my daughter for. I'm the one who should decide if I register my child for a class or not the owner took it upon herself to keep my credit card information on file since June 2024 to then turn around and charge my credit card in August 2024 without my permission. She did not ask me if I wanted my child registered for the class. She simply said I'm going to add her to the roster. When I told her I wanted a refund because we're not going to do the class she told me she couldn't give me a refund. I picked up the phone and tried to call her. She didn't even answer my call. She just simply continued to send me text messages. Then in the same conversation, she told me that she would give me a 50% refund. Honestly, it's not about the money. It's the simple fact that I didn't give this company permission to charge my card. I didn't give permission to register my child for this class.. Going forward, I would hope that they would not conduct business via text messaging and I would hope that next time they charge somebody's credit card that they need to spell out I am adding your child to the roster, which means I am taking it upon myself to register your child for this class. I never thought that I would be going back-and-forth about an extracurricular activity that I never registered for that my child never attended. This whole situation has been completely ridiculous, unnecessary and unprofessional

The armory building that the art center is housed in has quite a history. They converted a former fruit and vegetable stand into an armory in 1939. Around WWII the armory building served a training center for National Guardsman. The building still has a vault for guns and jeeps were repaired behind the building. In the 1950's and 60's the armory was used for proms, dances, and concerts. 1960 Chubby Checkers played a concert at Armory and demonstrate his new dance sensation, The Twist. By the 1980's the Art Deco building had fallen into disrepair and was abandoned. Around this time the Norton Museum closed it's art school. The National Guard building was considered as a new location for the school and attorney and philanthropist Robert Montgomery and his wife Mary donated $100,000 to renovate the building with the Palm Beach County Cultural Council providing additional money. On November 21, 1986, the Armory Art Center, Inc., was incorporated as a Florida non profit and the Armory opened on July 1, 1987, as a community arts organization that provides classes and art exhibitions. Robert and Mary Montgomery donated money allowing for major renovations in 1987 and 1988. On June 11, 1992 was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Famous people who have since graced the armory have included First Lady Hillary Clinton, opera star Luciano Pavarotti, movie stars Burt Reynolds and Lonnie Anderson, Broadway star Carol Channing, actor Leonard Nimoy, and musicians Allman Brothers Band drummer Butch Trucks and Russell Simmons. Today the Armory offers adult and youth classes. I stopped by to see an exhibit called No. 2 Objectified: Still Life Painting and Ceramics Vessels. The exhibit featured pottery students had made which was available for purchase. Outside is an interesting sculpture garden. It make for interesting pictures with the historic building in the background. I love when historic buildings are preserved and re purposed for a use that enriches the community. A building with this much history is worth a visit when you are in the area, especially when it is filled with lovely works of art. Admission is free, although donations are gratefully accepted.

So we made the detour to this historic Art Deco building to see what their gallery had to offer. The building was a WPA project during the depression. It was built in 1939. After many years as a military building, and some years in disrepair, it became an arts school in the the late 80's. It's gone through renovations and expansions. It is now an arts education school with many classes for all ages and in the summer a lot of workshops, etc., for kids from young ages through teens. Attached to the school was a small one room art gallery with an exhibit highlighting mainly clay pieces done by students and teachers. Each ceramic piece was marked with a price and displayed the name (s) of the artist and the teacher's name. Exhibitions change periodically. There was no charge to enter, but donations are accepted. We couldn't see the other (creative) studios as entry was restricted. More interesting to me was their sculpture garden outside with a few appealing items and the manicured grounds that faced the street. They've hosted an art festival for the last few years (in December) outside on these grounds.

Firstly, it is a water camp and no child is officially assessed for their swimming abilities. Next, there are no groups and set daily agenda. There is no one to call/ text to reach your child or their counselor. I would have liked to know who are my kid's counselors and have had a direct contact number for them. Instead you have to call the main office and wait for a call back. I called the main office to see if the campers were going in ocean one day bc water was choppy and camp owner had no idea of campers day schedule. On the second day my daughter went paddle boarding (no life jackets provided) and fell off the board and a counselor had to swim out to get her. Additionally, the children played soccer with flip flops/crocks which obviously can result in a broken toe. Also, the camp is very expensive and I paid so my kids can go snorkeling and found out once camp started that they couldn't bc of COVID. I made a big deal about it and finally they did go which was good. On the rainy days, kids are outside under a pavilion, not sure how safe that is either. The most frightening thing for me was when I picked up my kids from the Late Stay and there was no adult on site with the children. There was a 16 year old only CIT and the kids were in and out of the water. There were many adults around drinking/ BBQing, and I have no idea why the head of staff was not their accompanying these kids. I have gone to and worked camps my whole life and I am pretty shocked by the disorganization here, especially when the kids are in the water/ ocean. When i expressed my feelings the owner just said "come and pick the kids up and ill give you a refund." I didn't however. My kids had a good time here, but kids have fun wherever they are, this is just may opinion as a parent.

My gut feeling SIREN TURNED on as I glanced at my window and saw how hard the rain and lightening was hitting and I immediately told myself I would not have him attend As the weather started turning bad at 8:47 am I send an email stating that my son will not be able to attend for two days due to the severe weather conditions and would like for the days to be made up she had a counselor write back and tell me that they could only give me a voucher for after the summer to use .. also informed me that no child missed camp today only mines I find that extremely had to believe and I find that unacceptable .. I signed my son up for surf camp and due to severe lightening storms he was unable to attend .. Either way I would not trust a women who does n't care about the safety of her students only the $$$$.
