I just came back from Studio 107 for a hair cut. It was my first visit and I'm happy to report it…read moredid not disappoint! The style is exposed beam and brick - open concept studio. I was surprised at how many salon chairs there were - about a dozen I think. I spotted a nail salon area in the back as well. The layout is spacious - you hear others around you but never feel in someone else's space or conversation. Reanna gave me a lovely haircut today complete with styled curls. She listened to my hair concerns, offered options, and checked in throughout to see if the cut and style was going as I hoped. I would definitely return here again and recommend to others. Oh and I almost forgot, there's a lovely little complimentary tea and coffee nook when you walk in :-)

Usually, and I mean almost always, letting only these factors dictate my decision end up badly. But surprise, surprise! - it turned out to be one of the most delightful experiences based on an on-a-whim decision! Zeina was skillful, that lovely lady knows her thing! I thought I wasn't even very clear about what cut I wanted, but she knew right away what i was trying to have achieved. She was accommodating, cheerful, and confident with what she was doing. That made me feel assured she knew exactly how to get there. When I asked for a cascading side bangs, she didn't just pull my bangs in front of my face and chop the hair to a cascade and get done with it ( an annoying thing a lot of lazy, less skilled hairdressers do), she skillfully spent time to pull my bangs up, gradually trimming it, and did her thing the way skilled, professional hairdressers do where when they're done and they drop your bangs in place it just falls perfectly in place. Suffice it to say that I walked out of Signore happy and content, the way one does when one has gotten her money's worth. I guess i just found a gem in my neighbourhood! Here's hoping it's a start of a wonderful, long-term relationship!

I've found that if you want…read morereally stellar, bright, mermaid/unicorn hair, it's hard to pin down someone (or even a salon) who can do a great job. Mantra is that place. It doesn't matter what colour you want, they can do it, and your hair will be left un-fried, too. I went straight from purple to teal, and while the process was long and gruelling, my hair was totally fine at the end of it. Colinne knows what she's doing. Her staff are all lovely, the salon is bright and a totally friendly place to be. New places and new people are not my favourite things, having social anxiety, but I feel fine here. It's an Aveda salon, so you know he products and colours are top notch, and their environmental certification is off the charts. I think they even recycle hair clippings! I don't have to drive all the way to Fort Saskatchewan to get my hair done, but when you find quality, you travel to get it.

Nola said she had given a lot of thought to (as she put it) "taking me out of my box but not terrifying me." That statement alone sent my confidence soaring, as it exactly described what I wanted. When I look in a mirror, historically I just see drab and defeated hair. Colorists traditionally add warm highlights to try to brighten it (and my spirits), but I keep pleading that I'm a "Winter" and need cool, not warm. Nola listened and completely agreed, and understood that although I love jewel tones and greatly admire teals and purples and fushias, I'm waaaay too timid to rock a look like she herself has (check her out- it's fabulous!). What she concocted for me is a wonderful maroon/violet base for my dark brown hair, with ash highlights that don't make me look sickly. And, hidden underneath, invisible unless I choose to tuck my hair back and feel more fearless, are two streaks of purple that give me a little kick. The result? I LOVE it! Nola has promised to "push" me a little further over time, and reminded me that the worst that can ever happen is I don't like something and we simply color over it. I do believe she's making me finally get brave about having a little fun - goodbye drab, hello smiles! I want to add that over the two visits, I saw her clients with everything from "senior citizen more-staid" cuts to a very edgy almost-shaved 'do, so she can handle the whole spectrum. Finally, someone intuitive, thoughtful, and talented - please give her a try!

Showed 2 of the girls a picture (of me) asking for the same colour. with some subtle purple streaks instead of the dark ones in my pic. I came out with 4 different colours and severe blisters to my head. When I asked the stylist what we could do to fix it, the other girls in the salon came over and asked what the problem was, not taking responsibility for any action. I was told that they did not have time to fix it and was given a colour stripping shampoo to maybe take some of the colour out. Then I was booked in 5 days later to fix the problem. The cut is horrible as well. 1 side is longer than the other. I will never go back to this establishment.

The salon is located in a large historical building that houses several other businesses. There is no sign indicating where the salon is and with multiple floors and entry points, had my friend not advised me to enter from the outside lower level, I definitely would have been late for my appointment cause I wouldn't have known which entrance to use! The salon is really nice, very bright and clean with huge windows overlooking a river. There are about 4 stations, although there were only 2 stylists in when I went (12:30 on a Thursday). I wasn't really sure what I wanted, other than that I wanted a new colour for summer an something different done with the cut without going super short. I am very easy going with my hair, which stylists usually love- I like them to suggest what they think will work and look good. The stylist took a while to warm up to this concept and even seemed mildly annoyed at first that I didn't know exactly what I wanted. I was starting to have bad feelings about Hair Graphics at this point. After looking at the color swatches and pressing her for ideas some more she did open up a bit and finally got it- I needed her help. We picked out 3 colours and decided on a cute style and 2 hrs later I was walking out looking fabulous!! After we go over our initial hump, the stylist was awesome. She offered me coffee, juice, bottled water at least 3 times during my appointment and she gave a head massage to die for! At the end she wasn't pushy with the product (which I totally appreciate) an when I asked about a shampoo that they carry she totally recommended it but said that I could definitely get it cheaper at a well known beauty supply store - big points for the honesty. And lastly the price. Hang on ladies... Full head of tri colour foils, medium length hair, with a cut - $114 and change. Throw in a $20 tip and I was still out of there for under $150. I think that I have found my new salon. If I could give 4.5 stars I would. Points lost for the terrible lack is signage for finding your way into the place.
