We Hired Simar and Save More roofing to put a new roof on our reno in North Vancouver. The roof was…read morecompleted in May 2017. We had a leak almost immediately. We have been trying to contact Simar for over two months and he refuses to answer or return our calls. Since then we have had an envelope inspector do a report on the roof. He found that the workmanship was very poor, and that standard roofing practices had not been followed, causing major issues with the roof. We have a very long list of all the mistakes that were made. We have had several reputable roofing companies look at the roof, and they all believe that it should be replaced entirely. This will be more expensive than starting with a new roof as the old roof will need to be removed. This repair has majorly delayed the rest of the renovation. It has also added costs in terms of drywalling, general delay and also extended rental at our current home. Additionally, due to a bank error, Simar was overpaid $3200, which he acknowledged and promised to return to us. It is many months later and he has not returned the money, nor has he contacted us. We have a signed contract offering a five year warranty. Dealing with Simar and Save More Roofing has not only been very stressful, but in the end it will have cost us additional tens of thousands. We have been nothing but polite and have tried to resolve this peacefully, but there is no response form Simar.

Arvin answered our removal and pre roof prep questions. The onsite crew was polite and courteous the entire time on site. There was a sudden shower hiccup while installing the new shingles but they followed up and handled it. A longer shingle warranty was chosen and shingled product photos the project mgr took upon finished inspection...speak for them selves, I noted 2 areas where they added extra edge flashing that wasn't in the contract, but no charge. They quoted 3 old layers removal but there was an old 4th layer underneath. That added removal and dump charge weight was detailed & noted. The fellas at Goodvan's do good service work and follow up. I will be referring them for future roofing work.

SEE ADDENDUM AT THE BOTTOM FOR SMALL CLAIMS AND OIPC RULING…read more I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel it's important to share my experience with Cooper Roofing so that others are aware. (See updated addendum at the bottom) Earlier this year, I was the victim of a serious security breach involving Cooper Roofing's email system. As a result, I received fraudulent payment instructions that appeared to come from them. Based on the information available, the breach likely resulted from weak protection measures and inadequate cybersecurity training, although I can't be certain -- Cooper's declined to provide the details I requested to properly assess the situation. The breach went undetected for weeks until I brought it to their attention. Beyond that incident, my experience overall was extremely poor. Despite confusion around the payment instructions, the project manager assured me that work would begin on a specific date, so I moved my wife and small child out of the house in anticipation. But without any warning, no work was ever started. My wife was also treated rudely on the phone when we tried to clarify what had happened with the missing deposit, which added unnecessary stress to an already difficult situation. After the breach, Cooper's remained evasive and never called to offer an apology or explanation for what had happened. In my personal opinion, this company demonstrated a lack of professionalism, poor communication, and a concerning approach to customer service and data security. Based on my experience, I would not recommend them. ADDENDUM: For clarity, the Provincial Court of British Columbia (Small Claims) heard the full evidence on March 11, 2026 and ruled 100% in my favour. The Adjudicator's exact conclusion was: "Because the fraud originated from the Defendant's emails being compromised, the Defendant is responsible to pay the Claimant the amount of the loss." Judgment was awarded for the full $8,435.83 (principal + costs) with immediate payment ordered. The court did not accept the timeline or "warning signs" argument presented by Cooper Roofing. Payment of the remaining balance is still outstanding and enforcement proceedings are now underway. The Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner also substantiated my complaint, finding that Cooper Roofing failed to implement reasonable security measures, including MFA and employee training."

They also sent a follow up email calendar reminder. So was surprised when no one showed up for the appointment. After 10 minutes, I called the representative to see if they were still coming as I had other commitments. No answer. I called Cooper Roofing and the VR receptionist advised that the Project Manager would get back to me shortly. No call. I called back the representative. No answer. I left a VM. No call back. I called back Cooper Roofing. The VR receptionist continued to cycle back to the greeting as they could not find anyone to transfer the call to. Brutal customer service and obviously I would not recommend this roofing company.

I called two companies for quotes and chose Karmic Maintenance as they were less expensive and I liked their vibe. They are very professional from phone calls through to roof care. The only suggestion I have would be for them to take before and after photos of the roof to show the client as I've seen this done with other roof cleaners and it's reassuring. They cleaned up the area around the house, took away the leaves and we were satisfied customers.

I requested quotes from a number of companies and MD Roofing was one of the first to reply. Surprisingly, the prices varied greatly despite everyone saying they would do pretty much the same job. After reviewing them all, I called MD Roofing and arranged an appointment with Chand. He and his father came by, did a thorough inspection and we wrote up the deal right on the spot for exactly what he'd quoted. When I asked how soon he could do the job, he said the following day! He said he had a window of opportunity, it was small job and the weather looked good. Other roofers were saying a minimum of four to six weeks with some suggesting early spring. His crew arrived the following morning and by mid-afternoon, just before it started to rain, they were finished and the site cleaned. My wife really appreciated that Chand took the time to choose a shingle style that matched those on the roof of our house and I was extremely please with a professionally installed new roof for a very reasonable price - before the rains set in. I would highly recommend MD Roofing Ltd. for their straight forward, honest and friendly manner as well as reasonable price and professional workmanship.
