Having occasion to go out for a celebratory dinner, the hubby and I headed to Hombre at the Mango…read moreHill Marketplace because I had seen their Instagram and wanted to sample their fare. Their tagline is "Mexican Street Food". Much like GYG, the ordering system entails building your meal from an array of choices. I was impressed by the five or so types of filling and variety of salsas on offer. The prices are as to be expected - about $12 for a large enchilada, plus add-ons. We ended up spending $50 on meals, drinks and a side. It seems to be a pretty popular place, we waited at least 10-15mins for our order and people were going in and out with takeaways. The wait gave us a chance to admire the Mexican Hipster decor anyway. Our meals were great - my chipotle chicken was shredded and stuffed into an enchilada with black beans then smothered in salsa, sour cream & guac. My husband's chilli con care soft tacos looked fab and he described the habanero chilli salsa as "burny good". His nose was running by the end so must have been hot enough for his taste! They're licensed too, with the requisite frozen margaritas spinning in their dispensers for your enjoyment. I noted they also take pride in their tequila menu, and even do a Shot Plate of you want to sample some different types of Jose Cuervo. We'll be back, and will probably have a drink next time!

Hombre is a nice change of pace from the myriad of other "Mexican" places that have popped up…read more They now include a Breakfast menu which they didn't have when we first came here ages ago, and they have more than Just burritos, nachos and enchiladas! You can get Acai bowls, burgers, hot dogs, fries (the clean and dirty variety), and Smoothies and Milkshakes galore. The food is always full of flavour and I was really impressed with my Dragon Fruit Bowl (pitaya) blended with acai, banana, apple & strawberries topped with granola & seasonal fruits. It was pretty tasty. I also love that they have non-hot salsa to have, I love the mango and avocado when I have a chipotle chicken burrito. Average lunch is about $40 for 2 people. All in all its a good spot to go to and I love that its away from the Westfield shopping centre!

The food was the only redeeming factor for this review. We ordered 2 boxes, one was correct & the…read moreother was a completely different order. We walked back up to the counter with our food to correct our order and waited for someone to acknowledge us. There was about 6 teenagers working, one girl locked eyes with us and continued to wipe down the counter in the same spot over and over again until another one of her coworkers decided to mosey over and help us out. He said "oh yeah, that's not your order" and corrected it, which was nice. I'm just not sure what everyone else was doing. They all looked at each other and laughed when we let them know our order was wrong so I wasn't sure if we missed something funny or if this had happened a lot today. As we were eating, another lady came in from the drive through to correct her order too. As we were leaving, I wasn't sure where to put my trash - see attached picture. With 6 people on shift I'm surprised nobody found time to take out the trash all day, it made the place seem super dirty. I wanted to try Taco Bell in Australia to compare it to America, needless to say with all the trash laying around the store & rude customer service, I can see why absolutely nobody has said it's good over here. Oh well.

Good atmosphere, friendly service, reasonably priced. My favourite so far is the warm tortilla…read morechips and the cheesy Gordita crunch. I'm not a huge fan of the seasoned chips as they just have way too much seasoning for me. The churros and the chocadilla are quite yuummy. I'm not a huge spice fan so I get mild everything because the first time there I didn't specify mild and ended up with hot and had a burning mouth for an hour, but great if you love the spicy. Before you go get the app and after you do your first order you'll get a voucher for a free crunchy taco and every $ spent gets you closer to more free goodies. I'd highly recommend this place if you have a hankering for tacos at reasonable price just don't expect a massive menu.

Looking for authentic Mexican food? You need to track these guys down…read more Serving up soft tacos - four different types. Do opt for the queso (cheese, handmade!) Tacos are $6 each, or grab two for $10. Trust me, you can't just have one... they might have other 'especials' so look at what the board says. My husband and I shared two tacos between us (I know, I said you can't have just one... I still mean it), and an agua fresca. He had the Beef Juan/Beef Barbacoa, and I had the Tacos de Calabacitas/Veggie taco. Oh my goodness, the veggie taco was NOM-nom! It takes a lot to impress me with vegetarian Mexican stuff, but these guys were genius having those roasted peptides in the mix -- it gave it the whooop! Out front of the ordering/pick up window is a shelf of bottled hot sauces. Yes they have Tabasco, but please, please, don't pick that up. Try the Cholula, ok? Seriously, give them a go...

Since moving here I've been searching for a place that makes legit tacos. I am so happy that I found this place, and they have amazing prices (for Australia that is, I'm still getting used to the difference). AND they have Horchata, which is a delicious cinnamon rice water, and Jacaima, which is super refreshing. I ordered the Beef Juan, which originally came with pico de gallo and salsa verde, but substituted that for white onion, cilantro, and salsa roja (my favorite). The best part is that they even include a lime! You really can't have too much lime. After eating one taco I went for another. Can't wait to eat here again! I really really recommend this place. Best tacos around.
