Seriously the most helpful group in the Puget Sound for tenders and davit systems; absolutely fantastic service! As the story goes, my partner and I decided to add a dinghy to our 2003 SeaRay 340 Sundancer. Easier said than done as is most things go in the boat world. Our cruiser has a high swim deck which made things a bit more difficult. But we knew what we wanted and began making phone calls and shop visits. First stop was an Inflatable shop in Ballard. I liked the owner even if he is a bit curmudgeonly. Only problem was, he didn't seem very interested in selling me a boat. I walked in there twice with my checkbook in hand and was told to come back so he could check his inventory. Second stop was located just before the Ballard Locks on the freshwater side; almost like a Waypoint. I dropped in there once but was told It was Sean's day off who must be their only sales person. I called the shop multiple times after and was even given Sean's cell phone with no returned calls. I couldn't give my money away. Finally after looking around the Sound, I was referred to Steve and Brad at Guyer Boatworks. From first call to install, they were amazing! The custom SeaWise davit system they designed fit perfectly; Guyer even worked around my design requirements and understood exactly what we wanted from the beginning. Steve drove down to take measurements and verify. Brad communicated weekly and delivered the boat to Seattle - the handoff and install was without issue. Guyer's 40+ years in this business shows through every aspect of the RIB shopping and buying process. It is increasingly rare for folks to do business on a handshake and then actually live up to the promise. In our case we recently purchased a used RIB. Guyer did a great job of reconditioning the boat, delivering, and commissioning (including measuring and creating the lifting cables for our davit). They gave me a thorough briefing on all the systems and made sure that I could and should call if I had further questions. Then something not so good happened on my way from Anacortes to Lake Union. Blame? What blame? The guys took time from their stint at the boat show and scooted over to Lake Union to "rescue" the now not-whole RIB. They took it back to their shop and now they are working with me to make a more appropriate selection. With full credit towards whatever we choose as the replacement. Never happens.
