It was a last Minute need to cut my hair and I wasn't able to get any appointments (it was the night before when I was looking for salons and everything was closed and I needed the hair cut the next day) I saw that this place take walk-in. I came in the morning and it was busy so I was asked to come back later in the afternoon. Their shampoo smelled like orange cream. They spent over an hour cutting my hair and she did it all with just a comb and scissor. She can keep up a conversation and keep you entertained the whole time. I asked for thinning and long layers. She understood the concept but it was poorly executed. My hair was very choppy and you can see the layers with straight ends in rows. read more

After 26 years, I can finally say I've found my hairdresser! For those who've finally found THE ONE, you know what I mean. I walked in on a Tuesday afternoon after reading the glowing yelp reviews. Before GTS, I've always gone to asian hair salons in flushing just because it was cheap and that's what I'm used to. BUT, I have a family wedding on Saturday and needed my horrible highlights that were growing out and turning into that copper/orange color to go. I wasn't even sure if it was at all fixable but I went in, met Erica (was pretty excited it was her bc of the reviews and she's just so friendly), and she gave me a price. I was honestly thinking at least $200 based on city prices so you can imagine how happy I was when she said it'd be around $150 (Probably less if my hair wasn't a color mess). I was looking for subtle ombre highlights and for my hair to look a little more natural while still keeping some color. Since my highlights were growing out, there was a hint of a demarcation line between my natural hair and the highlights. Throughout the whole process she explained what she was doing and why or how it would help. When, in her honest opinion, it came out to bright, she used a toner to tone down the color just a bit. Never did I feel she was pushing me to do anything or try to sell me extras. Everyone seems to be so friendly here and it's only ten minutes away from me! I have been getting haircuts and highlights from Erica ever since; no one else has touched my hair! She is such a sweetheart, and she is well-versed in her field. Erica will always ask what you want, and she is honest with what to expect. I highly suggest you make an appointment before popping in. They are always accommodating with appointments, but keep in mind that it is a popular salon in the area, so it does get busy. I remember I called in last May before Memorial Day weekend, and Leslie made sure I got in before the holiday. The women who work at the salon are extremely personable, and I feel so comfortable around them. They always have returning customers, which is a testament of how good they are. When I contacted the salon, Leslie immediately got in contact with me with precise communication. She ensured that I got an appointment working around my schedule, which is pretty limited. I told Leslie that I needed to get my hair re-color since the last hair dresser pretty much messed up my hair. I also told her that this was for my wedding, so I had to make sure it was done right. She understood and was able to fit me in with Erica, which I requested for. Erica came in on a day that she was off just to accommodate my needs. Now on to the service. This salon is fantastic. All 3 visits thus far have been nothing less than excellent. They've touched up.my roots, trimmed my hair, and did balayage. Erica and Elizabeth have worked on my hair but all the hair dressers there are fabulous. Elizabeth was the one who worked on my hair recently. She advised me on my next hair venture and was very patient throughout the process, from the consultation to finishing the balayage process. As summer was approaching, I decided to go a little lighter fromthe dark brown base I have. Elizabeth and I discussed what we could do to make it lighter without destroying my hair and doesn't need much maintenance. I was also nervous about winding up with a washed/burned out look because of the sun. We decided to do a red balayage by using a red glaze which would look great even when the color washes out. So many people have complimented my hair (the red has washed out) and my hair doesn't have the washed-out look. Goal accomplished! All of them are friendly, personable, skilled, and just awesome. I'm back! Erica's biggest fan clearly... I went in this past weekend to get my ombre touched up; I wanted to go blonder and start higher up with a trim. She yet again, blew me away with her talent and friendliness. After she had washed my hair, and dried it, Erica examined the color and found it was on the yellow/orangey side. Since I know diddly-squat about hair, I thought she nailed it. I asked to go blonder and I was clearly blonder. But she recommended we use a toner and that I wouldn't regret it but left the decision up to me ultimately, which most stylists do not do. I obviously trusted her decision and can say this is the happiest I've ever been after leaving a salon in all my 25 years. I will definitely be a lifer here! read more

Customer Service: The staff was really friendly, enjoyed conversations with a few of the ladies in the salon. The receptionist was extremely nice, called in advanced and scheduled me in the same day. Environment: It's a cute little hair salon. It might not look that big from the outside but once you enter, you'll see that it's more than what it seems. Hair: I am very stingy when it comes to people touching my hair because they usually tend not to do a really good job or at least to my satisfaction but the ladies who worked on my hair did such an amazing job. I needed curls done for an event I had to go to and since I have really long hair, it usually takes a while for curls but they did it so quickly and nice and helped me clip it so that the curls stayed till my event. They were busy which is a good sign, and organized (which i Love) They were SO friendly, the owner made me feel welcome and was such a sweet heart. I found Guy Thomas Hair Salon via GroupOn but based on what I was looking for since I was coming in with a wedding party, I didn't find the need to use the deal. However, I decided to give them a call. They were accommodating in helping me with figuring out what I wanted to do for myself and the 4 girls (3 are my daughters). We decided to split our visit into 2 separate occasions which will save me time and avoid any stress. Having a lot done in 1 day can be over bearing and cumbersome. Especially if it's the same day of a special event. Day 1 -- One of my girls needed her hair color fixed. As some can relate, teenagers like experimenting with hair color. They were genuine with their recommendation on what would be the best option for my teen child and not cause any further damage to her hair. The option offered was very reasonable and fair in terms of cost. So, a set of highlights were given on the front and top of her head followed by a very trendy burgundy red. Then it was toned down to give a fabulous, shiny, healthy looking lovely hair color. A nice hair cut, blow, and flat iron finished her to look absolutely beautiful ! Since then, she's received countless compliments. Talk about wonderful!! My little daughter was the flower girl so she needed her hair washed and blown out so it can set for curling since she was getting an up do. My other daughter was in dire need of serious hair cut ! She was given long layers which turned into a gorgeous hair cut. This helped give her hair form and shape which it was lacking. Day 2 - They were extremely accommodating to receive us early Saturday morning (the day of the wedding). They were all hands on and started with washing our hairs and blow drying. They took care of 2 of us at one time. We were all getting beachy waves. They took their time and made us feel pampered :) My little daughter has her hair put up into an up do of curls. She looked like a Princess ! They also gave her a fun, complimentary manicure. Who does that ? lol Very sweet ! (You know she felt fabulous !!) My friends daughter is the 4th girl. She has VERY long hair (way passed her lower back) and they took their time with her as well giving her lovely beachy waves too. We were all set and done within a few hours and in time for us to leave and get ready for the wedding. I paid via CC but always tipped with Cash. That's my preference:) I would highly recommend this salon to anyone looking for a place where you feel welcomed,comfortable, and know that you will receive exactly what you are looking for without getting ripped off and/or taken advantage of. They are reasonable with their prices. After reading the raving reviews, I walked in on a Tuesday afternoon and got a hair consultation from Leslie. She was so sweet and very thorough in explaining what the hair process would be like and letting me know that the color I wanted to get might not come out because my hair is so dark. She was very straight forward about pricing as well and it seemed like she knew exactly what she was talking about. So I scheduled an appointment on thurs of that week with Erica. Erica is absolutely amazing and listens to what you want and how you want your hair cut. Because my hair was box dyed, she said it would be hard to achieve the exact color that I wanted but I'm very pleased with the results that I got. I'll be going next month to lighten it up a bit. My visit to Guy Thomas was a complete nightmare. I don't have much experience with perms so I just showed a picture like this: http://cdn04.devote.se/gallery/big/20140801/737b24b3815951a009ee8f76269e29ba.jpg They said that to do waves that loose it would reduce the length of time the perm would stay. I said thats fine and emphasized heavily that I wanted to avoid this look: http://www.xiziwang.net/uploads/allimg/141013/725_141013123014_3.jpg Once we started, they kept putting relatively small curlers on top of my head and on my bangs -- when I questioned this they said they are experts, etc... it came out looking like the second picture but even more of an old lady look. They told me that I could make it look like the first with product and a curling iron...why would I want a perm if I am just going to have to use a curling iron and product anyway? I was very upset when I saw how wrong it was and one of the girls even agreed with me and suggested they wash the perm out -- they told me it would be completely removed and back to normal. I don't have experience with perms so I said fine, and then after it dried it was just extremely frizzy and there were still tight, visible curls around my bangs/on top of my head. Not only do I hate the look, but it was a huge waste of time and could have been avoided if they had just LISTENED TO ME and clearly communicated. Instead they rushed through and ignored my concerns until it was too late. If a perm was the wrong thing for what I wanted, they should not have tried to make me think I would like it. I will never go back to Guy Thomas and recommend anyone reading this review avoid at all costs. read more
