I had a recent upper and lower blepharoplasty, and correction of ptosis of one eye. Not to get too technical , but my eyes did not appear level , and one opened more than the other . I drove to hours in the pouring rain on the 405 fwy, in eye pain, to keep my appointment, I was told it would be impossible to reschedule for anything this year... He didn't look at it or touch me, he had an assistant talk and touch before he came in... She tapped around my swollen eye, causing further inflammation and pain...??? Then he sad he could not help me. He wanted to medicate me with pain pills, rather than truly examine me and perhaps solve my problem. Paid $5,235 to later find out HIS ethics prevented him from proceeding with surgery unless I agreed to have overnight nursing staying with me. I had arranged for day help. His concern (last minute since no post surgery info stated this requirement) was if I fell going to the bathroom. If this was a requirement he should have listed it in the paperwork like the alcohol restriction not being negotiable. So I paid heavily for his ethics since I was not comfortable with someone sleeping at my house. Guess he has no problem taking that much money from a 80-year old person. This man is a genius and I would not see any other oculoplastic surgeon in the world. He does a lot of pro bono work in China and is an intelligent human being. I had a neurological reaction to a cosmetic device that was promoted as 100% natural and was put in critical condition and suffered a severe brain injury and lost 90% of my face as a result. the burns are coming from my brain and electrical in nature and were funneling through the face mask and eye ball sockets, excetera. I didn't know how to verbalize it was happening to me just that I knew I was going to have no eyelids pretty soon as everything was cooking off in time was not on my side I couldn't explain the millions of things that were stabbing me in the face in the eyes and the head. I told him about all the electricity and he said the nerves are attacking my tissues and that I went to all the wrong doctors, thought it was all neurological. My wife saw Dr. Massry after she had upper and lower blepharoplasty by a "reputable" plastic surgeon in San Francisco. The initial surgery caused ptosis (drooping) in one eye. We consulted several oculoplastic surgeons, and none were willing to try and correct the issue, as revisional surgeries are much more complicated. Dr. Massry is known to take challenging cases and is 1 of 2 physicians who do the most revisional eye surgeries in the United States. He took on the case and was more than incredible. He explained that this could not be fixed with one surgery and it would be a process. This has been true, and we are still in the process, but there has already been a remarkable improvement. As a physician, he truly cares and has been patient and concerned along the journey. We had to call his cell phone in the middle of the night with a concern, and he took the time to diagnose the issue and reassure us. He has facetimed multiple times to check up on my wife's progress (unlike the initial surgeon, who never reached out and stopped responding to our messages). My wife has been through a lot and Dr. Massry has given her hope. Dr. Massry is also heavily involved in teaching oculoplastic surgeries and has written textbooks on his techniques. I suffered with Ptosis. I had my eyes done in the Desert and the result was terrible. I had one eye wide open and the other eye dropping. My eyes were always my best feature and I refused to live with my eyes looking like they did. I was referred to Dr. Massry by Dr. Paul Nassif. He said that he was a specialist and could correct my eyes. Well, I cannot tell you how pleased I am with my result. My eyes are symmetrical and look so much better. Dr. Massry is an unethical physician whose interest is to squeeze his patients from every penny they have. When we met he couldn't tell why my eyelids were outward, so he made a few guesses but they were all wrong (he just did the same thing my grandmother could have done for free or just for a cup of coffee). Believe it or not he still pressure me to schedule a date for a surgical procedure. As other Yelpers have pointed out, Guy Massry lacks the basic knowledge and ethic codes you would expect from a surgeon. He is just good at billing his patients at light speed rate, if you use his services then expect him to invoice you even for breathing (he'll make you pay for the time he spends making wrong diagnosis and then for the time he spends trying to set up a date for a surgical procedure you do not need). More or less, Guy Massry is the master of medical malpractice, deception and misdiagnosis. If you want to keep your eyes please look elsewhere and avoid this scoundrel. read more

Thanks for your reply, I emailed you on July 3. No response. On September 10th I posted the negative review and the following day you responded publicly. On November 3rd I sent you an email which had the information you needed to find the email in question. The original email dated 7/3 was in my sent folder, so I I knew I sent it and worst case it should have gone to your spam folder. At this point, I wasn't even asking for a reply addressing the questions the email had, but at least I expected something like "sorry, I still can't find it so I can't help you". You did not reply. On 11/14 I decided to emailed you again and pointed out that I had emailed you through Yelp which sends notifications (no escape here). Surprisingly, that day you replied for the first time. It took over four months to get your response. On November 29th you sent me an email kindly asking to remove the Yelp review as you pointed out that you were very dilligent at responding emails and it was really uncommon for you to miss an email. Besides, I think it's totally fine for a professional or for a business to to ask someone to remove a review). Two days later you emailed me to make sure I had got your previous email. I explained I could not reply earlier but I was going to look into it. On December 5th you emailed me again asking to remove the review, and you based your request on the fact that THE DIAGNOSIS WAS MADE BASED ON WHAT I TOLD YOU. Please keep reading. I am not stupid, I know what it takes/how to to remove or edit a review. If I did not do it it's because either I did not have time or because I did not plan to do it. In this case, I said I was going to look into it, and I really meant it. The review was heading right to the trash. The day we met I pointed out that I had a filler placed on my cheeks a few years ago and 2 years later I noticed permanent puffiness under one of my eyes. Later on, I found several photos from over 5 years ago and I could notice that the puffiness was there. I accept that I did not provide you with the right details. That was my fault, not yours. That being said before meeting you I had a consultation with a cosmetic surgeon in Beverly Hills and despite receiving the wrong information he insisted over and over that he did not think it was a filler. After our meeting I also met an ophthalmologist in Tijuana who got the same information as you did. Despite that she did not believe it was a filler. She asked me to get a CAT scan and other exams and as soon as she got the result she was able to confirm that there was no filler. They were right, you were wrong. You all had the same information. During our 15 minute consultation you wanted to set up a date for a $9k surgery. You stated that the surgery I needed wasn't a big thing and that it was going to be a quick and small procedure. I reached the person in charge regarding costs and she replied "unfortunately I don't think we will be able to reduce the fee, your case is not just a simple eyelid surgery, and as such, has a degree of complexity which does require the expertise of someone only with Dr. Massry's knowledge and skill" I emailed her on at 4:37 pm and the following day by 8 am her answer was patiently sitting in my inbox. Unlike the first emails I sent you, this time the response was $uper $peedy. You might have made the diagnosis based on wrong information, but what really bothers me is that it took you four months and half to get you to respond emails regarding my eye whereas it took less than a week for you to send me 3 different emails asking to remove the review. And it took just a few hours for the person who handles payments (Anna M.) to reply to my message. Our email interaction (or lack thereof) left me with the impression that if Yelp did not exist, I would have never heard back from you. I am so grateful to have had Dr. Massry fix my ptosis (droopy eyelid). He is a true master! My case was somewhat complex because my ptosis was due to Horner syndrome which I got from a traumatic neck injury. So rather than just having one eyelid that was always lower than the other, my left eyelid would actually fluctuate throughout the day from looking almost normal to substantially lower than my other eye. This led to some really bad blurred vision in the evening because of the differential between my eyes. (I was actually referred to Dr. Massry by my Neuro-ophthalmologist). Dr. Massry is the best eye surgeon on the west coast. After 5 surgeries on my left eye (decompression & 4 blepharoplasties by other surgeons), Dr. Massry was able to restore my eye in one surgery! In early December 2019 I had surgery on my lower right eye lid. (Canthoplasty Right lower lid, Conjunctivoplasty right lower lid). Dr. Massry and his office prepared me for the procedure and reassured me it was a simple procedure. He was right. Dr. Massry explained exactly what he was going to do and discussed the procedure and the recovery. He gave me a prescription for pain and I had it filled and was ready to use it. The surgery center, West Hills Surgical Center, was great, Dr. Massry was on time and reminded me exactly what was going to happen and the surgery started on time. I selected partial anesthesia so I was awake during the procedure. That helped me recover faster and get home sooner into my own bed. The procedure took 15-20 minutes and recovery was 30-45 minutes and I was released. I never needed the pain killers and the swelling was minimal. I couldn't believe how little discomfort there was. Fast forward to today and my eye looks great. The eyelid is repaired and looks great. I will see Dr. Massry again, if needed, and will pass his name on to anyone who needs eye surgery. About five years ago, I was looking for an oculoplastic surgeon to fix a disfiguring web that had appeared on my eye after an unsuccessful (i.e., disastrous) plastic surgery. I consulted with several surgeons and kept getting the same response: "I can't help you with this problem. I suggest you see Guy Massry." I figured that since Dr. Massry's name kept coming up - not just from "regular" people but from top oculoplastic surgeons - Massry was the guy I had to see. And so I did. From the moment I first met Dr. Massry, I knew he was different from other doctors. He was super friendly, and yet totally professional. He listened to my concerns with laser focus, responded to my questions with thoughtful, clear answers, was sensitive to my feelings and concerns and was totally honest about what I could expect if I elected to have surgery. By the end of the consult, I knew I had found my one and only hope of restoring my face to that of a normal-looking person and so I booked the surgery. Dr. Massry did a phenomenal job and my surgical results exceeded my wildest hopes. To think, tif I weren't for him, I would have spent the rest of my life walking around looking like one of the aliens from the movie, Avatar! I wish physical appearance didn't matter so much. Went in to see Dr Massry because I want to stay looking as young as I can, as long as I can (if you know what I mean) and my eyes have been bothering me and I have been super conscientious. I wanted to see if there's was anything I could do to help. Dr. Massry is a very gifted surgeon and I'm ecstatic with my results. I'm a very active and athletic 48-year old woman. Unfortunately I saw my face change drastically when I had a stressful divorce at the age of 30. Just 3 years later I didn't recognize my own eyes. I was adamant on having an oculoplastic surgeon do my eyelid surgery, and Dr. Massry took great care to explain the entire procedure. I went into his office only wanting eyelid surgery. To say this man is a miracle worker is an understatement. I made an appointment for some Botox between the eyes for the frown lines . Never had it before so I was nervous about the experience. While I was excited I never in my life thought I'd be leaving there over the moon and beyond about the work he did . Nothing makes me happier than to write this review of my experience with Dr. Guy Massry. Years ago I made the terrible mistake of getting an outdated lower bleph that left my under eyes looking hollow. I then made my second mistake - having a poorly skilled cosmetic surgeon not specialized in ocular procedures inject my own fat in my tear trough area. It looked like 2 prominent ridges l and when I pointed this out, he injected steroids which left the fat lumpy, uneven, and distorted. I lived with this for a long time until I recently opted to have filler injected to try to even things out- this was a disaster that resulted in dissolution of the filler. By this time my face looked tired and particularly in overhead light the lumps were very visible, and I looked crazy when I smiled. I found Dr. Massry online after an exhaustive search and a parade of naysaying surgeons not capable of performing this procedure. From the start, Dr. Massry's office staff was unbelievably gracious and professional. I scheduled a skype consult with Dr. Massry a few months out, well worth the wait. When we first spoke he was so kind and reassuring and did not make me feel shameful and stupid for my earlier choices. His focus was revision to make me look like myself again and restore my confidence. He subsequently had me come to his office for a live consult- again, well worth the wait and the cross country flight. Dr. Massry is in my estimation the finest oculoplastic surgeon in the world, and I would have flown twice as far and waited twice as long! Upon examination, Dr. Massry was direct and gave me the caveat that though he could go in with his unique and brilliant technique to remove the fat, revision surgeries are tricky and the outcome would depend on what he found when he opened things up. He urged me to manage my expectations. I left with a surgery for the fat removal and an outer brow lift scheduled a couple of months later. Well, best laid plans... I became extremely ill and was in and out of the hospital, during which time Dr. Massry and Anna were supportive, sympathetic, and so flexible and generous with their time and the schedule- Anna had to push back my date several times but always did so perfectly and pleasantly. Then COVID caused further delay, but we persisted. I finally got to have my surgery 3 weeks ago and have emerged a new person. I can smile again because i am happy and because I no longer look like the Joker! Dr. Massry far exceeded the expectations he established, using some native fat to create a smooth under eye area and enhancing my brows so beautifully with an outer lift. Before, going into , and after the surgery Dr. Massry was so warm, so kind, so professional- I trusted him completely. Not only is his skill unmatched by anyone, but also his ability to instill confidence and create comfort are extraordinary. I also want to mention that his fellow, Dr. Wang, has been endlessly supportive, accessible, and reassuring, answering my every question and reassuring me despite my redundancy! When I saw Dr. Massry for a follow up last week he was so genuinely happy for me, humble as ever and sincere. We agreed he hit a home run! I feel like I finally have my own face back. I plan to continue working with Dr. Massry on all future enhancement endeavors as I trust him beyond measure and know I will attain additional remarkable results. Simply the best oculoplastic surgeon! Thank you, Dr. Massry! Dr. Guy Massry is an exceptional, knowledgeable, oculoplastic surgeon, renowned for his corrective revisional surgery skills. Surgery is a huge deal. In addition to being professionally accomplished, he's also a brilliant, compassionate, kind and genuinely amazing person that truly cares about his patients! Dr. Massry is direct, thoughtful and takes the time to explain and answer questions on considered procedures, so you'll be comfortable and happy with realistic outcomes. A sinus surgery mishap with a different surgeon, resulted in a constant watering eye, so I feel fortunate to have been referred by a respected opthalmalogist to Dr. Massry for my first surgery, which was a tear duct reconstructive surgery. Any surgery is frightening to me and just the graphic description of a surgery makes me queasy. Dr. Massry's expert and considerate explanation made me feel very comfortable with the procedure. Tear duct reconstruction can be complicated and is often not successful, so I had the surgery with this in mind. During and after surgery, I didn't experience any pain, had minimal swelling and the new tear duct worked perfectly, so I was extremely pleased and relieved with my results! I attribute the success to Dr. Massry's masterful skill. I recently had my second successful surgery with Dr. Massry four months ago. I naturally have double lids and my 62 year old Asian eyelids had gotten quite heavy but didn't want to change the shape or have that surprised look. I merely wanted a very natural looking "refresh". Dr. Massry recommended how I would benefit from an upper eyelid blepharoplasty; brow lift on both eyes and ptosis repair in one eye. After the success of the first surgery, I trust Dr. Massry explicitly and am so grateful his honesty and thoughtful expertise and precision. I love that Dr. Massry takes the time to educates his patients on the options available and expectations. Surgery day went perfectly! I had very little discomfort, minimal swelling and NO bruising after surgery and throughout the recovery. After a week, I looked and felt fairly normal with minimal swelling. After the first month, there weren't visible signs of having had surgery at all, including the incisions at the temples in the hairline. At four months now, my results are such a fantastic improvement and my overall expectations have been exceeded! I feel much more confident, younger and my eyesight has improved. My second experience was perfect, like the first one and I won't trust anyone, but Dr. Massry with my eyes! I have since seen a family friend who had upper lid blepharoplasty with another surgeon and her experience was unfortunately, completely the opposite. At seven months, her eye area was still red and swollen and she wished she knew about Dr. Massry prior to having her surgery. Skill and knowledge ARE important in a surgeon, to which Dr. Massry has both. I can't emphasis enough, how highly I recommend Dr. Massry for all oculoplastic surgeries, simple or complicated. Firstly, I should mention that I very rarely write reviews unless a provider or service is absolutely exceptional. Secondly, I'm a physician and because of my specialty, I've been exposed first hand to dozens of plastic surgeons, including many highly specialized surgeons, like Dr. Massry. So when I say that Dr. Massry is beyond exceptional, it is based on my personal experience with him as well as my experience comparatively through my professional exposure. Dr. Massry did an upper and lower blepharoplasty on me as well as a brow lift. The recovery was easy and quick and I had minimal pain/discomfort after the surgery. I could not be happier with my result. I truly feel transformed. Aside from the enormous improvement in my entire upper face, the best part is that it looks so natural that most people can't even tell I had surgery, yet everyone has commented on how much brighter and younger I look.
