These guys took out a tree for us. The tree was tall and more dead than alive. It also overhung ours as well as our neighbors house. The guys from Gutierrez Tree care came out, hooked up safety equipment and took the tree out completely, without dropping a single branch on anyone's house! The work was precise and controlled. From Pedro's very fair and reasonable estimate to Ramon and the trimming crew's completion, all performed a thorough, timely and professional job reducing my overgrown Lemon Tree, Windmill Palm and Japanese Maple. They do a great job, a great clean up when they are finished, are always on time, and if for some reason they cannot make the scheduled time we always get a call or text explaining why and we reschedule immediately. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Gutierrez Tree Service to family, neighbors and Friends, unless you have the time to do a lot of cleanup and repairs for the mess they leave behind. I spent thousands of dollars to have Gutierrez Tree Service and its owner Pedro to remove several large queen palm trees. One worker allowed falling segments of one stump to smash into my swimming pool fence, causing one of the panels to come loose and partially open. When I raised the issue with Pedro, he asked the undocumented worker about it and the worker said the fence was already that way (false). That was good enough for Pedro. I asked Pedro: Why would I spend thousands of dollars on having palm trees removed and not spend a penny on having my fence repaired, when the primary reason I paid thousands of dollars to have that fence installed in the first place was to save the lives of my toddler children. Pedro said he would have his guys re-attach the partially loose and open fence panel, but he needed to buy some self-tapping screws because he did not find any in his truck. He told me that he would stop by later that evening to get it done but he needed to be paid (thousands of dollars) which I paid him based upon his commitment to make the repair. This was at the end of the project, when the crew was getting ready to leave. He never came back, totally flaking on his word. When he left I also noticed that many Palm seeds had fallen into the swimming pool during the tree work, and stained the in-ground pool. See the pictures which I have uploaded. I subsequently had to have the pool resurfaced, which cost thousands more. If you are looking for flakey and sloppy work, this is who to hire. read more

PG&E contracted with Gutierrez Tree Care to take down a large tree on our property. After two no shows, they finally showed up and when they had cut the tree down and not cleaned up anything, we talked to a couple of guys in their truck as they were sitting on the road. We asked them if they were going to remove the slash they left. They lied straight to our faces and said that they were waiting for another truck to come remove the big mess they left. They didn't remove anything. Not one thing. They left a big fire hazard on our property and now we're going to have to hire someone else to remove it all. If we could give them negative stars, we would. They're unreliable, do a sloppy job and are dishonest. read more

Gutierrez Tree service was very responsive and offered a competitive price - and after reading a couple of reviews we decided to use them. They provided me advance copies of everything I needed with my permit application with the city including copies of their business & contractors licenses and insurance info. They arrived on time with and the crew worked efficiently and carefully to avoid disrupting traffic, our neighbors, etc. The job took 1 1/2 days due to the size of the oaks - but once completed the trees look great. He got backed to me quickly. Agreed to meet me for a quote ended up canceling. We rescheduled he failed to show and asked for a picture. I sent him a picture and he gave me a quote. And we made another to see the tree first hand. Again a no show. I figured if he can't make an appointment i wasn't gonna be able to trust him to show up on time and do a good job. If you need your trees trimmed or removed, don't bother calling anyone other than Pedro at Gutierrez Tree Service. This guy is legit. We needed to have one palm tree removed and two others trimmed. I called to get a quote and he came right over and gave me a better quote than two other local companies. I asked if he was licensed and insured and without hesitation he gave me a copy of his contractors license and a copy of his insurance and liability. The crew that came over was A+. The guy climbing the tree took safety seriously with helmet, harness and tree spikes. Tree trimming services that I have used in the past were questionable in safety. Not these guys. Also the trimming that was done was next to our pool and I looked in the backyard when they were done and they were cleaning out my pool with pool nets.
