We ate here on our last night at JW Marriott resort in 2024. We had previously eaten here in 2022 and were so impressed that we were really looking forward to our return, and we were not disappointed. The food is great, but let me start with the service, which is exemplary. The servers refer to you by name (Mr. X..) throughout the meal. The service is professional, helpful, and of course friendly. We seemed to have 3 or 4 servers who were constantly giving us attention. One took our order, another served the dishes, another removed dirty plates and dishes immediately after we were done, and another checked in with us. It was a master class in how to provide quality service to customers. Very impressive. The restaurant is gorgeous inside and is formal dining without the need to dress formally. The menu is sophisticated and upscale. There are antipastas, appetizers, salads, pizza, pastas, and main courses. The food is consistently great to excellent. We started with two salads, the Caesar and shrimp with polenta and a sauce. Both were excellent. The wife especially loved the sauce under the polenta. The dressing for the Caesar was one of the best I ever had. For entrees, I had the lasagna with meat and it was hands down the best lasagna I ever tasted. The flavors of the sauce were deep and developed. The pasta was cooked perfectly, and the meat was high quality. The wife had ravioli with vegetables and loved it. It was light and very flavorful. The Cadillac margarita with anejo was out of this world delicious. Overall, it was a phenomenal meal. You leave there feeling as if you just a special experience, not just the function of eating a meal. This is one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at, and I have travelled a lot in my life. Every year we come to Cancun for work we eat at Gustino and when I think it can't get any better - somehow it does. Today is the 2nd time I've eaten here this trip - once with customers (a group of 10) & once by myself. Carlos was my waiter both times and he is so attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. He definitely deserves a promotion! The pasta is fresh, the sauces are to die for, and the ambiance is unmatched. My early birthday dinner was planned at Rosa Negra but after doing a complimentary wine tasting and passing by the kitchen where they were hand making pasta. I told my bf I rather eat here. He asked the host if there was any openings on Tuesday night and there was only 7:45pm available, same exact time we had for Rosa Negra. The food was edible but not memorable except for the complimentary warm rosemary focaccia bread. Even though I love truffles I found their FETTUCCINE CARBONARA AL TARTUFO a little salty, Ragu di carne lasagna a little dry and pollo alla parmigiana dry as well. My pretty in pink drink didn't have fresh cut fruits like the description in the menu mentioned. My bf also mentioned it was a bday celebration to the host, but I didn't get anything. My wife and I enjoyed dinner here while we were staying at the JW Marriott in February 2025. The atmosphere was fantastic. We were seated alongside the lazy river around the hotel pool. The whole room was bathed in a deep blue light...quite nice. Our food from salad to appetizers to entrees was outstanding. I found the service here, at the whole JW Marriott really, to be exemplary. Well after two years of going there I will never be back. Service was horrible, our server avoided us completely. I asked if I could get rose or champagne because I'm allergic to certain wine and he said no so I got a tequila drink... brought it to me and it was rum and he tried to tell me I was wrong and it was tequila. I'm here in Cancun for work, and I decided to take myself on a date to Gustino tonight as a treat. It is located in the JW Marriott, and the quality did not disappoint. Carlos was my server, and he is extremely friendly and personable. I can't remember the last time I had such a genuine server. He even mentioned to me he used to be at management level but he prefers to wait tables instead, as he is able to have more personable interactions and form meaningful connections. He is truly wonderful at his job. I appreciate his kindness, along with all of his wonderful recommendations and attentiveness. Not only did the service excel, the food absolutely did too. They start you off with two kinds of focaccia bread, and olive oil with balsamic vinegar to dip. The bread is crispy yet soft, light, and fresh. For my app, I got the caprese con burrata. Just WOW. The burrata is definitely the best of its kind I've had, if not the best cheese of any kind of had. The tomatoes are fresh. The pesto and olive oil sauce balances out wonderfully, and the presentation is unlike one I've seen before. For my entree, I got the sea bass. It is cooked in a bag, and comes with onions, fennel, carrots, and a Sauvignon Blanc sauce. This fish was cooked perfectly, and judging from the other reviews--I think this is a safe bet yours would be too. It basically melted in my mouth. I would like to come back and try other menu items and/or dessert. Prices are VERY fair for how nice of a place this is, the service standard, atmosphere, and overall quality of food and beverages offered. Wow! This was such a good decision for my birthday dinner. From the violinist, to the decor, this restaurant was really a treat. I started with Caprese con Burrata. The smooth, rich burrata combined with the flavorful pesto was a great way to begin the evening's food journey. We were given an amuse bouche of panna cotta, which definitely left me wanting more. I chose Filetto di Manzo e Risotto di Porcin as my main course, and was not disappointed. As it was my birthday, I was surpised with a dessert, in addition to the Fonduta di Cioccolato that I ordered. I'm not exactly sure what the birthday bonus was, but I do know that it was good! The dessert I ordered involved hot chocolate being poured over a white chocolate shell. I love interactive foods! Before ending dinner, we were given a few small macarons for the table, that came in a keepsake box. Throughout the evening a terrific violinist performed covers of pop songs, and even performed Happy Birthday for me when they brought out the birthday treat. I loved the apps we shared, the calamari and the 4 cheese pizza. I didn't care for my entree at all - the short rib stuffed pasta. The sauce was way too heavy, and the filling inside of the pasta was puréed into a baby food like paste. It had no texture. You wouldn't know it was meat. My sons thought there entrees were ok - chicken parm and a lobster with ravioli. I tasted them, agreed on the chicken parm, but didn't care for the ravioli that came with the lobster. My wife had the mushroom risotto - the flavor was good but the texture was a little too el dente on the rice themselves abs the consistency was very very thick. Cioppino soup- really good, well balanced , flavorful soup. Fish was dry and over cooked. Pear carparccio - fresh, tasty and clean. I liked it better than a traditional meat carpaccio. Meat lasagna - this dish was horrible. Cheese was dry and rubbery. Pasta was mushy. They brought out everything at once to speed up the process, and never took our dessert order. I did not eat yet. But I try to order a gnocchi to go and I request for a red sauce. With was questioned in the beginning (with a host) but she called the kitchen and then YES they could make it. I also ask for parmesão cheese (it state on the menu) just to make sure I will eat my gnocchi with red sauce and parmesiam cheese. The host was completely lost. We felt the hostility right away. Was is more, towards the end of our dinner, he picked up our empty plates and including and unfinished plate who someone was still working on.. The restaurant is pretty pricey , so we would expect the food to match the prices as well. We were never given menus upon sitting down and our waiter was absent during the meal. The shrimp risotto tasted like burnt grill. The chef did come around and ask how the food was which was very much appreciated but it felt like he only came to the table since we were talking about how the food tasted. The lasagna did not taste fresh, we were not able to finish it due to it tasting old. The only dish that was remotely close to being decent was the filet but it was over cooked. We made reservations on open table to celebrate our wedding anniversary while vacationing in Cancun. It is located inside the JW Marriott where we stayed which was super convenient. The restaurant is beautiful with amazing views. The violinist was so talented and the music soft enough that you could still carry on a conversation but loud enough to appreciate the music being played. Really lovely experience. The pasta is house made and there is seating available in an area to watch if so desired. We started with some mock-tails that were really tasty, the house made focaccia was really light and nicely flavored. We couldn't decide on one appetizer so we ordered three! The capreze burrata, beef carpaccio, and chocolate covered foi gras. All were delicious- no regrets; although, the chocolate covering the foi gras overpowered the foi gras so you couldn't really taste it so that was a little disappointing. I absolutely loved the agnolotti stuffed with beef short rib- so creamy, pasta cooked perfectly stuffed with tender beef- so so so good! I didn't care at all for the cod dish, it was a little fishy for me but I'm hoping my husband will be willing to go back for round two here. I really loved it! Holy crap, can I give lower than 1? This is easily the worst tasting food in the entirety of the Marriott + JW Marriott resort. Considering this place had 4.5/5 stars I was hoping for great tasting food since everywhere else in the resort is just plain bad. The pizza was just straight up undercooked, incredibly doughy and the cheese wasn't even thoroughly cooked. The pasta we got was just straight up plain tasting. The texture of the pasta was good, but that's not enough to save it when you've got no flavor. Was disappointed considering how expensive this place was. None of us finished our food. At this point I'd even prefer frozen pizza put in a microwave over this garbage. I also can't imagine if they just straight up gave me plain pasta that it would have any less flavor than the dish they served me. read more

This restaurant was located at the hotel my girlfriend and I were staying at so we decided to check it out on our first night in Cancun. We went for a late swim then showered and changed for this restaurant. We didn't know it was fancy so good thing we changed. As we were walked to our table, we were told the pasta was made in house as we walked past the kitchen. The view inside was beautiful. The restaurant has a beautiful view of the pool and beach at the hotel. Inside, there's a table set up with a bunch of candles and the top is a dome that's painted like the sky. It's so beautiful. My girlfriend and I both ordered chicken Alfredo..I added shrimp to it and my goodness, the food came out very hot and delicious. Our server was very attentive and kind. Five absolute amazing stars for our experience last night at Gustino. This may be our best dinner experience on our month long tour of Mexico yet... and it's Italian ! Gustino is located in The JW Marriott attached to The Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa. Hector was our fabulous waiter and he never missed a beat ! I have a TON of allergies and dining out in foreign countries is a bit of a challenge sometimes with the language barrier ; such as the previous night , the waitress simply ignored my nut allergy ! Tonight , Hector and his chef nailed it without making it a big deal and that is everything. First , Gustino is beautiful! You arrive upstairs and there is a winding stair case that you take down to the dining area. There is glass everywhere! Lit candles in the center and under a fresco .. it's all just stunning! Of course , don't mind the small children who were not being tended to by their parents playing with the lit candles !!!! ( a trend we have seen here two nights in a row --- same children -- same family .. NOT the hotels fault .. in fact , the staff gave the children plastic candles to play with instead .. did the parents take the hint ? NOPE. ) We were met amazing warm fresh olive focaccia bread ; EVOO ; and balsamic . The wine list to start with is extensive- The Mexico wines are surprisingly great! Hector gave us an Amuse Bouche which was a stuffed mushroom delight. Yum! Next we ordered off the 'bar menu ' and to be honest , i though I was ordering a Foie Gras .. BUT it ended up being a small plate of filet with a foie gras melt ! We loved this so much ! Our entrees were the Fruita de Mare : a delectable bowl of the seas delights which consisted of fresh large prawns ; calamari; scallops ; and a large grilled lobster a top linguine. i had the Fettuccine Carbonara with fresh pancetta and a 147 degree farm egg. My husband and I shared all of our entrees and still had lots to take back to our room. Of course , what is time at a resort if one does not splurge on more good champagne and a digestif ?? My husband had a new for him drink called : Xtabentun , an Anise liquor over ice. I had my usual Rose champs! The family and I are vacationing at The JW this week. I generally don't consider Italian, just not what I prefer, but my wife and daughter were in Gustino for a wine tasting and she was really impressed with the staff and wanted to stay for dinner. Our server was Milton and he could not have been better. He was attentive and made outstanding recommendations. My special needs son is a very picky eater, so he had breadsticks and specially prepared (plain) meatballs and loved it. The calamari appetizer, with two sauces, was outstanding. I took Milton's recommendation and had the Costata Brasata Al Barolo (braised short ribs). It was incredibly tender and tasted delicious. The wife and daughter split chicken Parmesan fettuccine. They said it was very. We have had a wonderful time this week, so many experiences. One of the managers, Gilberto Hernandez, even stopped by to check on us. I can't wait to come back. read more
