RATING FOR DESSERTS ONLY:
Went to Starbucks for coffee and dessert but left because it was too crowded (Sunday afternoon): so ended up at Gustav Cafe.
Restaurant is named after the designer of the Eiffel Tower: Alexandre Gustav Eiffel. There's a model of the Eiffel Tower out front: makes for a great photo op. On their wall, you can read an interesting story about how the Eiffel Tower came to be.
It's a cozy and elegant place decorated in beautiful wood tones, with comfy tufted armchairs (even the baby high chairs have tufted backs), and dark glass tables that beautifully reflect the wall art. Nothing much to say about the servers; they just take your order and deliver the food. They're not very warm nor helpful; they couldn't even answer simple questions about their desserts.
We ordered a chocolate cake and a choco mint frappe. The cake was rich and decadent but on the stale side. The shake tasted awful! I usually love the combination of chocolate and mint, but this tasted like minty toothpaste UGH!
The only reason I would give them a second chance is because it's a nice place to escape the crowded mall and hang out. Next time we'll try out the food.
FYI: There's no toilet paper in the bathroom, instead there is a bidet sprayer and paper towels to dry up with. The sink and soap to wash your hands is outside of the bathroom. read more
