I feel they genuinely care about my child and they are very responsive. It is also really wonderful to have a place where kids are encouraged to be themselves. Art+Wine night provides a solution to this dilemma. Show up with your favorite wine and whatever art skills you do (or don't) possess and Natalya will provide all the supplies and knowledge you need to paint something worthy of displaying in your home. The website shows the project that will be taught on each date so you can pick and choose which nights you want to sign up for. The classes are small which allows Natalya to give everyone individualized instruction. I've been to four Art+Wine nights and I see SO much improvement since my first painting! I had never used oil paint and after taking a 2 session oil class I left with a legit fruit bowl painting. Artists of all skill levels come to Art+Wine night and everyone learns something new or improves their technique. It's a great way to spend a Friday night and accomplish something while drinking!

I have been at this school as a freshman back in 2024-2025. That school is not good for me because…read moreafter 10 minutes after you have use the restroom or something you have to do like the nurse for example, they can't let you in the freshman cafeteria unless they just open the doors instantly for you. Instead they just let you starve and the worst part about being on campus is that they have the big caged metal doors closed and they can't open them until lunch is over or they just open them 3 minutes after lunch is over. They used to let you have 7 minutes to get to your class, now you only have 5 minutes and if you walk from a class that is far away from your last class and the last bell just rang, they have you get a tardy and if you got 2, you would go to I.S.S.! Because how are you supposed to get to your next class from K Hall to L Hall for example and if you walk your normal speed, they make you get a tardy pass. your 2nd one will be I.S.S.! Also, I need to talk about the buses. The athletic side is okay, but when you leave the main building to get to the buses, they have the little yellow barriers to prevent you from going on the right side of the road when they are on the left side. They are not gonna be on the right side anyways because they never go there except for when they pull over and they have this sign that says "if you go under the barrier, you will get ISS or OSS (out of school suspension). Like it's just a barrier, they don't need to take it so seriously. My bus was the reason why I got home at 6 one day because the bus in the very very front wouldn't move and we had to wait at the school for nearly half an hour on the buses till the first driver moved after those 30 minutes. About the restrooms: The staff says you can't go during the first and the last 15 minutes of class. If it was an emergency, some teachers won't let you go because they have to follow the policy, which is fine, but students need to use the restroom before the 15 minute mark because they can't hold it in for too long, but guess what. They closed off all of the restrooms, even the ones in L Hall. The school's policies are just pretty depressing and unfair to be honest.

Manor High School gets 5 stars in my book!!! I have twins who will be juniors this new school year…read moreand have been attending Manor High School since 9th grade. Manor High is such a GREAT school for so many reasons but for me as a parent of 3 kids w/ 2 of them being twins the thought of college costs can be very scary!! BUT Manor High School has partnered up with the ACC in Elgin to offer a free early college program which my twins are in the first class of the Early College program & through this program students can earn an Associates degree by the time they graduate from high school & let me repeat.. This program is FREE!!! All tests, books, courses, bus rides to Elgin ACC, ect ALL FREE!! And not to mention the support for the students is awesome!! Manor ISD as a whole is really growing & I just love how the schools bring in programs for the students to be a part of & to be more supported. Now I'm not saying Manor High is perfect but I am saying as a parent my experience w/ Manor High School is that I do feel that during the times I did have an issue or concern I was heard, which means so much! As a parent of 16 year old boy/girl twins who are in 11th grade it really helps to know that if I ever need extra support or have concerns about my kids schooling that I can reach out to someone at MHS to get that support! Anyone with teenagers knows that sometimes us parents need ALL the help we can get to make sure our kids stay on the right path & to let them know that they can reach for the stars!! And to help us parents not lose our minds or strangle, I mean squeeze ;-) our kids! Happy 2016/2017 school year!! Manor High School Rocks!!!

There are no cliques and no bullying and when we have had issues we have raised them with the teachers and they have jumped on them to solve them immediately, and unlike other private schools there's no sense of entitlement from the parents or students. Also, because the school is so good at awarding scholarships not everyone is 'rich'! The school also has a great parent teacher association which offer weekly meet-ups and play dates as well as adult only events. Each class also has a WhatsApp chat group so parents can easily communicate with each other. If it sounds like one big happy family you'd be right, that's exactly what it feels like. In terms of academics my adhd child has thrived. Diagnosed at 4 we thought she would struggle but the school has been amazing at supporting her needs and accommodating her. They also offer many different seating types from a bouncy ball chair, to cushions on the floor and other such. It's very holistic and non political and offers many diverse ways of learning. They have a calming corner, encourage reading and emotional open communication as well many other ways of teaching emotional and academic intelligence. They teach in Spanish from day one and introduce Mandarin from 3rd grade, they also teach following the international Baccalaureate which is amazing. It teaches the children self confidence through weekly presentations and teaches them autonomy. Honestly this school is amazing and now it goes until 12th grade we are obsessed and so you will be too. But, sshh don't tell anyone about our secret slice of heaven.

Hands down, my husband and I feel it is best decision we have made for his education. Although it can be a bit pricey, we have felt that it has been worth every dollar. He is growing up to be a well spoken, well thought, caring little human. I love that he is bilingual, but I really love his open minded views and his eagerness to learn. The teachers... the teachers have all been so amazing. They are loving, caring and really take each student's personalities and abilities into consideration as they grow from year to year. As I said, it's not the cheapest option and we do discuss yearly if we will be renewing his tuition-- and, with each year this answer comes easier and easier with an astounding "YES". We love the school, the community, the parents and look forward to many more years at Magellan!

Second grade was okay . But when third grade hit it was very disappointing, homeroom teacher was always out . There was no consistency. Curriculum changed teacher did know it . It was awful. Fourth grade just put the nail in the coffin, when A. Child needs help and ask, the teachers response is , I have to take care of so and so because of behavior. It's sad . My child used to love school but after his fourth grade experience I couldn't let him be punished because of overcrowding of 30 students . I wish I would have taken him out sooner , but when teacher start leaving year after year that should tell you something . We went to KIPP AUSTIN CONNECTIONS .

This year, '22-'23, we had to pull her out after she was attacked on the bus and in school. NOTHING WAS DONE. She was told that one of the bullies told the admin that SHE wanted to fight the group. Not true. She was told that she would need to document and submit actions against her. She recorded their taunts and other things from her Kindle. One admin would watch it and then say, "It's not enough...". This is a kid with AUTISM. They want HER to submit actions against her??? The bus driver reported the kids as well. Again, aside from giving the group a "warning" nothing was done. Numerous calls went unreturned from the administration- a total of 23! I would leave messages on their answering machine as no one ever answered the phone. This sort of behavior never used to be tolerated at Kipp. Now, it is because of revenue. They are losing students to homeschooling and online school. The social worker there is completely unprofessional, almost laughing when I spoke with her. Never again. We withdrew our daughter and they can keep the problem students. Furthermore, our daughter has an IEP that was not followed. Teachers had resigned and were not replaced. I am a retired educator and understand that there is now a teacher shortage- who could blame them??? However, there was no support for our daughter's learning disabilities. Two of the group who would bully our daughter would go to her 1st-period class just to taunt her. They were not stopped. It is never OK for a child, any child, to be fearful of going to school. It is never OK for the adults at said school to ignore the cries for help from both that child and her parents. These students told our daughter to, 'f-ing kill herself...", they called her awful names, and again, attacked her on the bus and in the hallways of the campus. It took over a WEEK for the bus footage to get pulled. A week. In the meanwhile, these students continued to go after our daughter who was sitting in the front seat of the bus since last year. No more. I would not trust my child in this school system. When numbers and revenue are more important than children, there is a serious problem.

But will your child leave here better off and prepared for the life ahead of them? No chance. The school is a sheltered island that practices borderline cult-esque ideals of religion and tries to indoctrinate students with a perspective of 'how the world should be' but completely fails to prepare them for how the world actually is. For all the heavily religious people out there, consider this. Roughly half of the students I know who attended Hyde Park no longer believe in God and directly point to this school as one of the primary reasons. I've never been religious but if I was that would be a horrifying statistic to me. And for those who are not religious, this isn't because the school promotes open minded thinking but rather is so far down the evangelical black hole that it ruins religion for most. Oh and if you actually care about the education aspect (which most parents at this school do not and are primarily focused on religion), check where their graduates go to college. The majority of them go to small, relatively obscure colleges because the school is not focused on education, but primarily religion. Students who attend a private school and pay for an elite education should not be struggling to get into Texas A&M if they're just outside of the automatic admit percentile. Yikes. Glad I graduated from a different school.
