This school, however has absolutely failed my children academically. If you have a child that is neurodiverse, this school cannot meet their needs. If you have a child that is gifted, they will not be able to meet their full potential. The class sizes are at 30-33 in 1st and 2nd grade! My child's teacher assured us multiple times that my child would get the help they need. In the end my child's teacher, who had been his teacher for 1.5 years "strongly encouraged" us to find a new school midyear, with no warning. All of the previous reassurance, that they had resources for his learning needs, from her swept away. Now the same teacher is asking for parent volunteers to go in and teach children, not their own, to read. She cannot meet the needs of these children, yet you will not hear this, when the class size concern is brought up at parent meetings. You will be reassured over and over until your child has fallen so far behind, they need multiple interventions to catch up to where they should be or where they were before they started this school. My daughter was advanced for her age before this school. She requested to go back to homeschooling. She would sit in class, at AWS, with her hand raised and never get any help. She was quiet and not one of the louder children yelling out for help. She said she could not focus and would get pushed around by the boys on the playground. The school purposely holds children back from progressing "too fast." They have reasons for this. The issue is the class sizes hinder the children from moving as quickly as they need to, given the Waldorf methods, when they reach the appropriate age/grade level to do so; and they refuse to change. You will hear promises of expanding the grades to have fewer children in the classroom. This has been a promise for years. They have yet to follow through and deny any issues, even though there are many. The teachers do not fight for their students. The office staff is sweet, but when you get down to the people truly in charge, they only care about money.

She forced the kids in our family to read material that was disturbing and inappropriate. They should have had a better principal, or HR team, that could have prevented this. The science teachers, Stephanie Jenkins and Anne Donovan, were also lousy, and they seemed to resent the very attractive students. Perhaps, this was because they were not attractive, themselves. The Dell Performing Arts Center is a small, cozy theater with great views of the stage from every seat. The intimate setting made for a wonderful experience. Parking was convenient, with a lot right in front of the theater and overflow parking available. Check-in for the show was smooth and hassle-free, and there's even a concession stand before you enter. The audio quality was excellent, making every performance clear and engaging. Overall, a fantastic venue for performances--well-organized, comfortable, and a great addition to Austin's arts scene!

That school is not good for me because…read moreafter 10 minutes after you have use the restroom or something you have to do like the nurse for example, they can't let you in the freshman cafeteria unless they just open the doors instantly for you. Instead they just let you starve and the worst part about being on campus is that they have the big caged metal doors closed and they can't open them until lunch is over or they just open them 3 minutes after lunch is over. They used to let you have 7 minutes to get to your class, now you only have 5 minutes and if you walk from a class that is far away from your last class and the last bell just rang, they have you get a tardy and if you got 2, you would go to I.S.S.! Because how are you supposed to get to your next class from K Hall to L Hall for example and if you walk your normal speed, they make you get a tardy pass. your 2nd one will be I.S.S.! Also, I need to talk about the buses. The athletic side is okay, but when you leave the main building to get to the buses, they have the little yellow barriers to prevent you from going on the right side of the road when they are on the left side. They are not gonna be on the right side anyways because they never go there except for when they pull over and they have this sign that says "if you go under the barrier, you will get ISS or OSS (out of school suspension). Like it's just a barrier, they don't need to take it so seriously. My bus was the reason why I got home at 6 one day because the bus in the very very front wouldn't move and we had to wait at the school for nearly half an hour on the buses till the first driver moved after those 30 minutes. About the restrooms: The staff says you can't go during the first and the last 15 minutes of class. If it was an emergency, some teachers won't let you go because they have to follow the policy, which is fine, but students need to use the restroom before the 15 minute mark because they can't hold it in for too long, but guess what. They closed off all of the restrooms, even the ones in L Hall. The school's policies are just pretty depressing and unfair to be honest.

There is an amazing view of the downtown skyline from the track and it's right next to the river. What a neat place for a high school. The track is standard and enough surrounding light at night that you can see where you're going. Ample parking along the street and parking lot so it's all very convenient.

The tennis courts are all in great condition and include a nice wall area with half courts behind it for individual practice. The courts are popular after work hours, but there is an hour limit on play if there is a line of other players waiting. They can also be reserved in advance for private events or tournaments. My one complaint about the track and courts is that there aren't waterfountains or restrooms that are easily accessible. The johnson creek restrooms under the mopac bridge are close but still a bit of a walk. Be sure to bring plenty of your own water during the summer.

St. Stephens also fosters an environment that teaches children about service to others and community, they have zero tolerance for behaviors that would be ignored at other private and public schools in Austin. This is an Episcopalian school that does a beautiful job of making students of diverse religious backgrounds feel welcome and accepted to include students from non-religious families. They offer multiple sports, clubs, and fine arts programs. The tuition is not for the faint of heart, it is costly when compared to other private schools however, it is worth the expense. Most private schools are just like public schools minus the larger classes. St. Stephens not only sets high expectations for their students, they set high standards for their teachers. This in my opinion is what sets them apart from other private schools and public schools. If you have a child who is less academic or perhaps more into athletics you may want to send them to another private school or public school. If you have a child that is hungry for knowledge or wants to be challenged St. Stephens is the school for you. Down side here is the high cost and though it pains me to say it, the cafeteria food is mediocre but hey you can always pack a lunch!
