Dr. Gurvinder S. Uppal He's an Amazing Surgeon on top of being a Fan~tab~ulous Doctor. He's kind, keeps you in the loop about everything and anything that seems to be happening in whatever situation you and/or your family is dealing with at the time. He's gentle, sweet and a funny man too. If you ever break a limb, he's the Surgeon you want fixing you. He works wonders in the operating room & check's on you daily. This is the worst Dr office we have been in. The wait times with an appointment is almost 3 hours. We have been here 3 times and it keeps getting worse. The scheduling is rediciulous. They all sat and ate lunch while our appointment was 2 hours late. The office help is useless. The doctors bedside manners are also horrible. If it wasn't for our insurance we would have never returned here. I will definatly be tryin to get a refresh elsewhere or doing something else. WARNING!!! I woke up with a serious back problem on January 15th of 2014 which was so bad I could hardly move. Turns out that a couple of my discs where out of whack by 7+ millimeters each. I suffer from Lupus which causes rheumatoid arthritis which in turn caused my back problem. After a series of tests, Dr. Uppal gave me my options....I chose to have the spinal fusion surgery. There was no way I was going to walk around like a cripple for the rest of my life. On June 2, 2014 Dr. Uppal preformed the surgery and the following day, I had no pain or numbness. The reflexes in my left knee returned. It was an incredible relief. During my three day stay at the hospital, the doctor would drop by to see how I was feeling. He even came in late one night after working at his office all day. Within two days I was able to stand and walk on my own. Since then, I've completed my physical therapy and feel pretty damn good. The only issue I have is that I feel the metal hardware on my spine pressing against me which causes pain while sitting for prolonged periods. This is because I am so skinny and don't have much meat to give me padding. I can stand almost two hours with mild pain. For me, the surgery was the best thing I could have ever done to correct my problem. I know I will never be perfect, but the end result was much better than if I didn't do the surgery at all. I can walk on my own two feet without a cane. Very happy. read more

Horrible horrible doctor ! Stay away from him at all costs , please. For your own good. I dislocated my tailbone about a year ago and this guy did absolutely nothing for me. He laid me off work for 6 months and said there could be nothing done to my tailbone, and I just had to give it time. Every time I went into his office, I waited hours to be seen , just for five minutes of his time . I could not deal with the pain. A year later and it hurt like it was raw. I finally went to see another professional, amazing doctor who actually did something for me. I had my tailbone removed yesterday , I'm in recovery now. Had this doctor done something for me sooner , or referred me to someone who could, I wouldn't have been in pain for 365 days thinking there could absolutely be nothing done about this. Please don't waste your time or money with this doctor. Your health is not his priority, I promise you. read more

He must be used to dealing with people that don't want to work. Me being self employed, I'm looking for answers so i can KEEP working. I waited 3 hours, he never once looked at my mri or x rays (which my primary later confirmed its arthritis in my neck) he also never TOUCHED all the paperwork i filled out as it was in my hand the entire time. He told me i couldn't have a cortisone shot because he risks puncturing my lung (really? !) So he said he'd get me a referral for pt. Here we are the night before my next scheduled appointment and i still don't have a referral. Soooooo. This is why I'm a no show tomorrow. Awful awful awful. He thinks he's cute and funny apparently, but no. I'll never ever go to him again. read more

Dr. Uppal was amazing with my son. We had an X-ray with his pediatrician which showed something was wrong with his spine. The office got us in right away. The Doctor took his time with my son every visit he explained everything perfectly to him. He put his mind at ease and answered all his questions and never seemed rushed to leave. I've been going to Dr.Uppal for several months for a neck injury. The wait time with an appointment is always 2-4 hrs every time. When I get to see the Dr he is very short with me, does no tests, and just tells me to come back in a month. He explains I will need surgery in a few years but that I'm too young(age 26) to have a cervical/neck surgery at this time and that I should deal with my pain. I was taken off my medications due to bleeding ulcers from drs over medicating me, so now he tells me I just need to wait it out until my ulcers heal. Waste of time and has literally made my life worse. I would never recommend this Dr to anyone. read more

This doctor understood the pain I am in due to herniated neck discs. I am a busy person ...working fulltime and a mother/maid :)...the pain I have is a CONSTANT aggravating pain ...it was interfering with my livelihood and has taken so much of my personality and happiness away. I could have surgery but it just isn't something that I can do at this point for many reasons. I feel that when I cannot continue to function due to the discs getting worse...then I will have no other choice but have surgery. Dr. Uppal understands this and is working with me on managing it. For now I am doing ok and am able to not "dwell" on the pain...hopefully I can continue many years before needing surgery for sure. He listens to me and is easy to talk to and I hear him to the same with other patients. Everyone in his office seems to be friendly too! I have had two appointments with this doctor. Dr. Uppal has horrible bedside manners. He questioned my disability and made rude comments to me. After waiting two and a half hours to be seen he spent 5 minutes with me. If I had a choice I wouldn't go back to him. I shared how rude he was to the referring doctor. Horrible experience! I wish I could give no stars! Waited almost 2 hours for my husband to be seen. Once we saw the doctor he immediately suggested surgery. He told us to go home think about it and let him know, he also gave my husband a sample of drug that would take care of nerve pain. The doctor states of the sample works and you would like a prescription, just call the office and we will call it in to your pharmacy. So this afternoon, after giving the sample a week, my husband decided that he would like a prescription. We call the office and are told to make an appointment if you want a prescription, and the best part, there is only one specific dedicated to writing prescriptions. Why tell a patient to try something, and then make them come back (another co-pay) wait more just to have a script written!! I called to leave a message for the doctor and was told that he would NOT return my call, and my husband could either make the appointment or do with out. Awful awful awful, plus the gal that I spoke to raised her voice at me. Stay far away from the money hungry knife happy place!! read more

My sister-in-law went to Dr. Uppal for her back after being referred to him by another surgeon. He ridiculed her and literally brought her to tears. While she was crying he told her to "suck it up." Needless to say she is looking for a different surgeon. I would not recommend this doctor to my worst enemy. read more

I didn't want to even give it 1 star. He definitely will be hearing from my lawyer. As he took this tape recorder and announced all my personal information to the entire office walking up and down the halls. He is suited me by asking me and I quote "why don't you think your other doctor likes you? I said oh its not that I don't think he likes me it's, he then cuts me off to complete the sentence "Oh I know, It's that he doesn't like chubby woman. I was so embarrassed as my husband and nurse case manager sat there clueless as what to say. He then said I'm taking you off pain meds and putting you on a patch instead. Although I need back surgery. I then said okay why? He said your not gonna get "High" on this like you do the pills. I gasped and said I don't get high on Nycenta. .He said oh I know I know your the ONLY one cause your special. As he proceeded to say I needed to lose about 40 lbs to make his life easier on him during surgery. All while the door is open and some UEI student stands and listens to the whole thing. All I could do at that point was cry. He then points out how she would recover after surgery faster cause she was smaller in size. This appointment was yesterday and my depression state today is overwhelming. I have NEVER been spoke to that way. He also said you'd be surprised how many calories are I n a GOD DAMN cookie. I did nothing to deserve this. Needless to say I wouldn't have this poor excuse of a human being touch me even if I were dying.wwhy, so I can disrobe and have him mock and ridicule me even more. To hell with that. I waited about 2 hours for a scheduled appointment. My nurse case manager was I believe so shocked she didn't even walk me out and just said she would call me. I have heard nothing from her. I have never felt so horrible in my life. Yes...he disregards feelings, he is mean, rude and outright blurts all private info to the entire office with zero reguard. Whoever says they had a fantastic experience is a blatant liar. Dr Kim is my doctor and is AMAZING. I will be seeing him to let him know the surgery is in fact OFF. That is just a port on of my review. SERIOUSLY...STAY AWAY FROM THIS WACK JOB...He is in the wrong line of work..rates an average of a 3 out of 5.
