I went there for dinner, and ordered the HK$230 set dinner for two, which comes with a choice of two starters, main courses, and drinks. Even though the mains look small at first, they are actually super filling with the generous portions of rice / naan and starters. Place wasn't crowded when I went on a weekday night, and the only thing I would say is that service could be a tad slow. But overall, really satisfied with the meal! - STARTERS - They served a thin, chip like appetizer even before the starters came, with side dips of mint and some spicy sauce. Namaste tikki: a fried vegetable patty. I didn't think I'd like it at first (just not super into patties), but I was really impressed. It came out hot and fresh and flavorful. Satay: good, flavorful sauce and tender meat. - MAINS - (Comes with choice of two servings of rice and/ or naan) Mixed Seafood Curry & Lamb Rogan Josh: both super flavorful - I kept coming back for more of the sauce to dribble over the rice. - DRINKS - It comes with the standard drinks (lemon tea, milk tea etc), but you can also upgrade to a variety of drinks for an additional charge, like fresh coconut, mango lassi etc. They all seemed so yummy!

It is a nice date spot Gents! So the food. Samosas are a must for me. Then, Lamb curry with garlic naan bread. I would also recommend the giant prawns. They have a dish that is made up of spinach and cubes of cheese - also one of my favourites. Try their yogurt drink too! I skip the dessert. I never liked indian desserts. Pricing is averaging about 175 per main dish. So I'd say, it's about 350$ per person. They do accept credit cards. Lastly the waitresses are a bit pushy for my taste and seem to be very pressed for time. ( the last time I checked, there were only 2 other tables occupied) In my experience there were 2 waitresses catering to 4 people. We barely sat down and both waitresses asked for our drink order. Come on! Give us some time to settle in.. To make this short, we were served extra drinks and food, and charged for it, because the staff doesn't communicate or they on purposely did this. I'd vouch for the first. Anyway, be VERY CLEAR with your order. Otherwise the food is fantastic.

I went to this restaurant on a Thursday night by bringing a good Indian friend from primary school to test it out. Ista offers an assortment of Indian food that includes soups, salads, appetizers, tapas (chicken, seafood, lamb, vegetarian), and a whole lot more. I find their menu very comprehensive and also indicates the spiciness of the dish and if it's suitable for vegetarians. The majority of the food is Indian but with touches from other Asian cuisines. Ista has a spacious modern interior which surprisingly, doesn't feel Indian, except for the Bollywood house music. Tables are well-spaced, seats are plush, and there's a certain bit of intimacy to be said with the dim lights. We started with a traditional Indian lamb soup, the gosht goli shorba. It was hearty and savory and the lamb was really tender. I skipped the samosas, rotis and naans as I had plenty of that back in high school. The next dish was the murgh tikka chaat, which tasted similar to tandoori chicken and was very aromatic, enhanced by the chaat. For the mains, we spared no expense and went with the classic full tandoori chicken. My friend noted that authentic tandoori chicken has to be marinated for at least 8 hours. The chicken was succulent and smoky and falls right off the bone. If I had to order only one dish from Ista, it would be this. Overall, Ista is a great Indian restaurant and an authentic one at that. For those who want to come only for the shisha, the alfresco terrace is open everyday except Sunday from 5:30 in the afternoon until 11 in the evening.

Yes, not a typo, this Indian restaurant is located inside the Queen Street Cooked Food Market. You will find the escalators across from the 7-11 on the corner of Ko Shing Street to take you up to the dai pai dong. The manager/head guy (might be an owner, not sure) has the nicest friendliest face. He is Nepalese. His nephew was working as a waiter that night. Keep'n it real in the family. Service was friendly, simple, quick. Not forging new ground on customer service here, but staff seemed happy we were there. NAAN! I might have the cheese naan bread from Chautari on final meal list if I knew I were going to die tomorrow. It is that cheesy, piping hot, buttery and delicious. But in addition to my addiction to carbs via naan bread, we enjoyed basmatti rice, fish curry and saagwala paneer (spinach and cheese...love any culture to includes cheese in any dish!) Everything is cooked to order, tastes home made like from some old Indian woman's kitchen and all dishes arrived in good presentation, piping hot, super flavorful and colorful to boot. We will be back.

The cafe itself is very small with two indoor tables, and two outdoor tables. I suspect most people who come here, would use their delivery service or go for takeout. What I like about their free home delivery service, is that they have their own delivery driver, and do not rely on the group websites like Cuisine Courier or Food By Web, who always seem to make a hash of any sort of online delivery anyway. While the cafe/restaurant is not particularly nice to look at, the food is the opposite. It is supposedly traditional village style, and they serve such classics as; tikka, roganjosh, masalla, madras, you get the idea. They also do a good range of breads, rices, speciality drinks, and wine - yep, wine on the take out/delivery menu - sweet! The menu is actually very big, which is surprising given the size of the tiny kitchen on site. It really does rival the take outs we get back home (and we all know the English invented curry). If you do want to give it a go, I would recommend the malai kofta (a vegetable croquette in a rich creamy curry sauce), and the fish tikka, which is grilled to perfection. They are also not too shy on their portions. With regard to delivery, do check out their pricing, as they are very local to Mid Levels, and getting further out, requires a much bigger minimum order.

What I've tried so far: the chicken kathi roll, the dal makhani, chicken makhani, and the butter naan and roti. I wasn't that impressed with the chicken kathi roll as I barely picked up on any of the garlic sauce and it was quite messy, but both the makhani-style dishes delivered. In fact, I think I prefer the dal makhani to the chicken makhani. Rich, creamy, and a bit spicy, the dal makhani is what you order when you're seeking the ultimate comfort food. Dip some of that butter naan in the dal and that's all you need to indulge in the ideal Indian meal. I recommend passing on the roti as it was really dry. Overall though, Indian Village is serving wonderfully complex, traditional Indian flavors. Ambiance is better suited for take-away than dining in, and they also deliver via FoodPanda. I am a fan!
