We went on a Thursday night around 9pm and miraculously got a table for two. I would recommend reservations though. Seating is tight and you can definitely feel on top of others but the food is incredible. There's multiple kinds of chaats. I went with the palak paneer and it was probably the best I've ever had. Cocktails are interesting and with Indian influences but My hibiscus margarita was too sweet for me. I would definitely go back. We asked for water and never got it though after we left, I realized we paid for it- check your bill, they are super busy. read more

Bombay Dreams is the first of Dining Concept's restaurants. It's been almost two years since our move to the might Kong and it was time I paid it a visit. The husband insisted on an Indian meal after our drinks sesh and we found our way to Bombay Dreams, being in the 'hood. After we placed our orders, they got us Indian amuse bouche - mini dahi vada bites. Prettily plated, very soft vadas. I thought I tasted a bit of oil in the vadas - the kind when the batter is a bit too airy and hence it absorbs more oil when being fried. The husband didn't and thought they were fine. We ordered the aalu meetha aalu chaat - Indian street food version of sweet potato, potato topped with chutneys and the likes. When it arrived, it didn't quite visually appeal. Bite-sized chunks that were probably boiled, then fried - per my husband. Given how dry and a tad bit undercooked they felt to me, I thought they were fried straight off. It was topped with onions, tomatoes and a wee bit of cilantro. While the tamarind chutney tasted quite nice, ome green coriander chutney and sev would've added to it, but given how dry and underwhelming they were, I chose to speak up. The husband rarely does, but when I told him I would, he chose to do it himself. The kind host / manager / server who took our order asked for our feedback on why we didn't like it. He later came to apologize and mentioned that it doesn't usually look like that and he thought it seemed dry too. Next up were Amritsari kulcha - stuffed Indian style flatbread with onions, potatoes, coriander and Kashmiri chilli, paneer khatta pyaaz - cottage cheese cooked with tomatoes, ginger, garlic and pickled onions, and bhindi pyaaz masala - okra tossed with fresh green onions, tomatoes and ginger. While I was happy with the kulcha, the husband found it under-seasoned. So was the butter roti that we ordered later. Both the vegetable dishes were your average ones - both on the presentation and taste. Having eaten paneer dishes and bhindi masala plenty, I have high expectations from when I eat at restaurants. And they rarely keep up. Sadly for me, that was the case here as well. They didn't cater on the looks for the husband either, but he enjoyed the taste on both of those. A couple of other observations that I made this past Saturday evening while here. It was past 8:45, the place wasn't all packed, yet, when we asked a lady server for spoons, she placed both of them by the husband. I, my placemat and my side of the table were as accessible to her as my husband's. Was she generous and gave two to the husband? Did she expect the husband to pass on the second one to me? Was she having a bad day? Whatever the reason was, it certainly wasn't good hospitality. That's one Michelin bib gourmand recommendation disappointment! Came with a large group last month. The courses came very slow and they were very small. The quality of food was high and everything was prepared well. Getting a drink is a hassle and asking for a refill seems like an inconvenience. Maybe they were just having a bad day. read more

My favorite Indian restaurant to go to in Hong Kong from now on. They have an extensive menu serving variety of Indian food. Chicken Tikka is my favorite and their nan bread is simply the best you can find in the area. You can tell it is authentic as they have a glass window showing the cooking process and how their nan or roti were made. We came here at 830pm on a weekday. The restaurant isnt too packed as people are about to leave for work tomorrow. It might be a bit nosy and loud if you came earlier. read more

The lunch buffet @ Bombay Dreams has a bit more variety than the buffets at some of the other Indian restaurants. The lunch buffet is pretty packed most of the time on weekends (and on most weekdays too).... so if you go without booking in advance.... it would be at your own peril. Actually, we also went there without a booking (that too, for a Saturday lunch buffet).... and could NOT see a single table free Luckily for us, after 5 mins a large table became free and we could be seated....phewww The STANDOUTS for me were (Among STARTERS) 1) Seekh Kebab (lamb) - AN ABSOLUTE MUST-HAVE 2) Reshmi Kebab (Chicken) - a CLOSE SECOND after the lamb kebab The STANDOUTS for me were (Among MAINS) 1) Fish Curry (Meen Curry) - The flavor of the CURRY LEAVES is a bit dominant in this dish. So it has a unique taste/flavor.... better take a little bit first for tasting.... BEFORE GOING .... ALL IN 2) Paneer Curry (cottage cheese) - Very rich and literally melts in your mouth. Can you feel FULL in just 1 serving (as for me.... I can still have this Curry more than once..... after years of experience 3) Corn, Spinach and cream curry - Another of my favorites. Also quite rich and and has a similar "melt in your mouth" quality just like the paneer curry above..... totally different taste though It was kinda hot there and I had to wipe the sweat from my brow a few times (even while it was cold outside). We went to two Indian restaurants while we were in Hong Kong and both made it impossible to consider eating Indian any time soon now that I'm back in NY. Bombay Dreams was one of those spots. We walked to Bombay Dreams for dinner after hanging out in Sheung Wan and let our Indian friend order for the table. It was spectacular. The chicken curry, tandoori prawns, dal, chana masala, etc. was bold, flavorful, and complex. Service was relaxed but attentive. It had a really nice ambiance, too. very stylish and well designed and our table of 5 fit right in. I could see that it would also be a very nice date spot. It's going to be a long time before I eat Indian, I'm afraid. This place ruined New York Indian for me! read more

My favorite Indian food in HK. Extensive menu list and great service. Really love the samosas (light and flaky) and chicken tikka (sweet with a hint of spicy) Was there on Saturday night around 7:30pm and was able to get a table right away. But it gets crowded and loud after that with the open floor plan, but at least you can see the chefs through the glass working the oven and grills. read more

Bombay Dreams is, in my opinion, the best Indian restaurant in Hong Kong. Located on Wyndham Street, it is a little bit further away from the distractions of Soho, But nonetheless incredibly easy to find. What makes this restaurant so good is the food, staff, and the ambience. Pretty much the three key ingredients of a good restaurant, and Bombay Dreams has succeeded in all of this. All of the dishes are incredibly well-prepared and very tasty. There is in fact nothing I can fault about their food. I thoroughly recommend the chicken tikka, which along with the other grilled meats and fish, is made fresh in the on-site tandoor. Their breads are also made in the traditional manner, so they are ovened to perfection and fresh baked when they reach your table. In particular, as I suppose with most Indian restaurants, the vegetarian selection is very good. This certainly pleases Mrs L, who is never short of a tasty dish to eat in this restaurant. The staff are all incredibly friendly courteous and quite quick to serve. I say quite quick, because they can sometimes be a little blinkered, which means that you do have to do the frustrating dance of waving your arms about to get their attention. This is particularly noticeable during their brunch service. The brunch that they offer on Sunday is probably the best value brunch in Hong Kong. At only HK$188 per person, and an additional HK$108 for free flow wines, beers and sparkly, you can see that this is an incredibly good value meal. They do offer a lunch buffet throughout the week, Monday to Saturday, for HK$138 per person, and this includes one standard drink. The brunch selections are good, with a reasonable (but not too many) number of dishes at the buffet table. Again there are plenty vegetarian options on the buffet, and some excellent deserts. Remember to book, especially in the evenings, as it can get quite busy. However if you're a couple, you will probably find that they can squeeze you in somewhere. read more

I love Bombay Dreams. Came around 6 months ago when working in HK then came back when I was again in the city for work. Great range of curries. If you are gluten free they are very accommodating and have even made me gluten free chick pea bread which was delicious. I love the pakora too! Been twice now and no slip in standards. Took a work colleague and he pronounced it as doing the best biryani ever. Great portion sizes too so best to go hungry. Booking advised as there were loads of people queuing for a table the Saturday night we were in. Online booking is easy peasy! read more

Bombay Dreams, another gem provided to us by Dining Concepts. It's one of those places that I've only been to during lunch hours. The fact that they have a $140 buffet running at the same time probably has something do to with it. Definitely. You can always judge the elegance of a place, I find, by inspecting the way the table is laid out. A glass of water and an empty wine glass as well as a beautiful plate and cutlery set tells me that Bombay Dreams isn't shy when it comes to paying for details. The place itself is well designed and easy on the eyes, a hint of fancy and subtly chic. From all this one would imagine the food to be on par. And one, whoever that may be, would not be disappointed. A quick riddle, what's better than a great Indian dish? Two great Indian dishes, and so the buffet begins until the food runs out or I'm stuck in a food coma. To this day I've never beaten a buffet at it's own game but that doesn't stop me from trying! Samosas, curries, rice, naan, tandoori chicken... and repeat. I've never been a fan of Indian desserts, I find they take up room in my stomach otherwise needed for more important food... like a samosa, or butter chicken enveloped by a garlic naan, which I highly recommend if you decide to heed my advice and eat here. Of the other dishes I couldn't put them into a hierarchy of tastefulness as they all meet my requirements of goodness. I can't comment on the vegetarian food but there is a section for you healthy and/or animal friendly people. Needless to say it is hard to leave a buffet with an empty stomach or dissatisfied when such a range of food is available. Whenever I'm on the lookout for indian food and I'm in central Bombay Dreams is my first choice, just make sure that if you do go don't plan any strenuous activities for the next 24 hours! read more

Wish I could give them negative stars Not sure I can comment on the food that people have been craving about on the other reviews since I did not even get to being seated! - Worst service I have ever seen - No one tending or receiving the people who were waiting - The place was clearly short staffed as no one was clearing up the tables that were emptying up - The waiters completely biased and would give away tables to people who showed up after us if they acted as 'buddies' - Would never even walk around this location to save myself relieving the worst dinner experience ever read more

I've been to the restaurant a few times and the food has always been outstanding. Last night I tried the Paneer in spinach and it was wonderful. Tasty, just the right level of spice and a decent portion size. Roti with spices was OK but their plain roti is better. Service was OK, nothing special but friendly enough. I had a really excellent time at this restaurant. I had been traveling through China and Hong Kong for about 3 weeks and was really craving something other than Chinese food. This Indian food really hit the spot. I love spicy and my food came spicy and extremely flavorful! I thought the service was great and overall my experience was great. The food is excellent here and they have a wide range of curries to choose from. We had the paneer tikka, tandoori roti and laccha paratha and loved it all. However, the mushroom starter that we ordered was not too good. They also have buffet lunch on weekends where one can have a several course meal. In addition to the regular curries and bread they serve you dosa, pav bhaji and chaat. Although one can get to taste a lot of variety I may not go back for the buffet because the chaat and the desserts weren't too great but I ll definitely be back for a la carte here. Also, remember to book before hand as there service can be a bit slow and very often they don't have anyone to attend to you at the entrance. read more
